  • i love 90's song

  • For some reason this song makes me feel like waking up in a dream where I'm a kid in 2nd grade again, and the room is dark but theres a big illuminated glittery earth that's made of balls of paper and paint.

  • love the instrumental parts of this song. Definitely my fav Smashing Pumpkin tune!

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • lindo perfeito

    beatiful perfect

  • 12 people wouldn't know good music if it walked up to them and ripped their jaw off.

  • Now I know how they got Scott PIlgrim and the Infinitie Sadness XD

I love the orchestra at the beguinning. : )

  • Every time I hea this song it reminds me of my friend that passed away 4 years ago. She was the biggest Smashing Pumpkins fan in the world. I miss you and love you.

  • 90s, I miss you.

  • When I was 16 my boyfriend copied this onto a tape and gave it to me. I'm 31 and everytime I listen to it I just think about my first love and of how good that time was...

  • nice and melancholic , that magic thing when the music stays in time with our memories

  • To be hailed as one of the great anthems of OUR time.

  • i love this song soooo much reminds me of my teenage years

  • I love the entire song, but 3:11 - 3:51 is just plain musical perfection! It's Chaotic, Beautiful, Soothing, and Cathartic. It still gives me chills 15 years later.

I feel like, if I were to die during that crescendo, I could feel good about my life and feel a small part of God and Heaven before I were re-routed to where I'm really going.

  • that sounds like a little Chris Colfer o-o.

  • This song always makes me feel lonely but hopeful.

  • reminds me of a sweet autemn night with beautiful girls, good times and many laughs, a cool breeze to put your hairs on end, a mellow/ party atmosphere.. me and my band playing at britt britts party, everyone watching as we play the pumpkins, halloween 09, this was by far one of the biggest crowd pleasers, this and cherub rock.

hope you guys enjoy and experience & same good memories when listening to the pumpkins, i would say this band has made me who i am(thx mom for putting me to bed w/ this)

  • this is hockey baby.

  • things have never been better than today. The past is always covered in a fluffy-pink-sugar-coat. Times are always good and bad. Love to be alive and kicking and love to remember.

  • I miss the 90s so bad!!!!

  • :_____)

  • @leonieKiesow was that a bed ?

  • @TheXfirexxx you have no idea

  • I miss this band so much, anyone else miss them?

  • Reminds me of the NHL playoffs!

  • Eh, not bad.

  • This is such an epic album. One of my favorites from the 90s.

  • @ishkarleighbish There's no difference between Owl City and Linkin Park! They're both gay shit. Nirvana is awesome. Greenday is alright. Slipknot is awesome. Queen is alright. and guns and roses suck.

  • @Mrnausty They still make more money than you, lol. loser

  • @Mrnausty no no, queen is awesome!

  • @ishkarleighbish And? i really dont care lol.i was just posting that shit.

  • Listen you guys, don't be mad at the haters. You see they are actually confused. They think they are watching a a rick rolled video. You are all welcome.

  • Has anyone ever wondered why Billy Corgan always says "the urgency of now"?

Off the top of my head, I recall: "In the resolute urgency of now"

    and

"Street heat's the urgency of now"

  • @rockwellumrocks2 I'm guessing it goes with the theme of living in the moment, which is a recurrent motif in a lot of Pumpkins song. In particular, Mellon Collie is a very reflective album that deals with various struggles of youth, love and life in general.

  • This song reminds me of a fantastic Cold Case episode. Also I'm from Chicago and I've always loved this band and it also gives me a piece of my past. I get lost in the music and lyrics. "The city by the lake" that's where I live!

  • longest orgasm i ever had

  • This song reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. Last spring (before we dated), my dad and I were driving to Raleigh, and this came on the radio. I was texting her and told her to change to that station, and we both listened to it, and I always remembered that moment. A beautiful girl listening to beautiful song, does not get any better :)

  • @ZachIsARuhtard let it go brah.

  • @ZachIsARuhtard: Aww. I love memories like that. The stuff dreams are made of. :)

  • I was texting, so I wasn't fully listening to the song at the moment, and at 3:34 I heard "Scratch my balls". lolll

  • @ZachIsARuhtard Same here.

  • @ZachIsARuhtard

    Ahahhaahahhahahahhhaahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhahaha

  • How many times i've posted this on my facebook wall in the last year is not even funny! haha Beyond Amazing. We cover these guys with a passion. Check us out! THE RISING DESIGN!! New album coming out to HMV stores, and itunes soon. 50% of all proceeds go towards Cancer Research. Peace and Love

  • i dunno how there can possibly any bad feedback on this masterpiece of a song if idiots wanna say something bad about it just ignore them you know you are right that this is brilliant and that they are wrong they dont deserve to be spoken to!!!!!!!

  • I love this, bullet w/butterfly wings and some others. For some reason I just really don't like 1979... It seems like with all their songs I either love them or just don't get the appeal...

  • i love it i love the artwork on this cover too its so amazing and beautiful.

  • This song always reminded me of going to sleep late at night .Waking up in the middle of the night, still not in that fully awake state. Then all of a sudden I'm flying over the city lights, with a warm summer wind in my face, and the stars glow on my back from up above. I don't know where I'm going, but I don't care I just can't wait to get there. Lol. Sorry. It's weird.

  • @mrjackolanterns thank you i,m not the only one

  • @mrjackolanterns dude, whatever you're smoking, I want some

  • @mrjackolanterns i want to know what the fuck you were smoking before that night

  • @whaazam57 Hahahhahahahahahahaha loooooooooooooooool

  • @whaazam57 agreed

  • @mrjackolanterns

i want that drug u take :DDD

  • somewhere in heaven mozart approves

  • love the strings

  • Chicago Blackhawks man...

  • Amazing song. Did they do any similar ones to this? Going to buy their greatest hits. :)

  • @casper123

Their greatest hits is really solid! They have a few songs like this one (My personal fav being Today and 1979)

  • one of the 2 best albums of 1995 this and natalie merchants carnival.

  • You've never heard this song unless you've heard the acoustic version of The Smashing Pumpkins "Tonight, Tonight." I heard the acoustic version of The Smashing Pumpkins "Tonight, Tonight." live on the 20th Anniversary Tour and it blew me away.

  • how about everyone calms down and sucks my balls

  • @MrClarkson1 Are they chocolate salty balls?

  • Huh, I never noticed the planets in the background.

  • this song fucking gets to me <3

  • @bts100 your a dick get bent this guy is awesome

  • believe in my as I believe in youu!!

  • The impossible is possible tonight...

  • @bts100 LOL

  • @bts100 Thats funny because theres a million people who love his voice. Id like to hear you try and sing as bad ass as he does.

  • @bts100 i respect your opinion. that said, you are fucking retarded.

  • @cdudeNYR How can you respect someone's opinion, and then proceed to call them retarded for it? Contradiction much?

  • @IAmPlaysWithSquirrel Not really. You'll find in life that some opinions are just true, and some just aren't. One I've found that's true: Billy Corgan can play those vocal cords.

  • @bts100 lol decent songwriter? are you kidding? he's a genius

  • Going to see them live tonight, tonight, tooonight in Albuquerque, New Mexico! Woot woot!

  • Just saw this at How the Edge Stole Christmas. Front row. There are no words. Billy Corgan is a genius.

  • Ok lets start over again and relate to music. Thumbs up or the Greatest Album all times

  • damm i miss the 90's hell i miss the whole 1960-1999

its was music's prime, sum of the greatest minds came out of there.

  • @Tasteysheds47 i couldn't agree more!

  • This is my song. It explains exactly how I feel right now

  • @pablorubiolugo i just got dumped and yea i agree with you right now

  • this is my parents song to each other!!!! i love this song!!!

  • 8 people weren't born in a city by the lake.

  • @mcflypants @mcflypants ugly retarded loser without ideas

  • one of my favs

  • Mmmm, I love it when music gives me chills. Love SP. Have a concert shirt from this tour.

  • @rianelacretia66 Man that's awesome. I gather you saw them live? They were in Australia last month and i missed them :( I had to choose them or Korn...yes i love Korn haha. But yeah i hope they come around again in a year or so.

  • Anybody ever notice the font on the cover is the same as the font for The Nightmare Before Christmas? :)

  • @hissymcrlovezten omg yea! thats cool

  • @samdavampslyr indeed it is ^_^ always makes me smile

  • REAL FUCKIN' MUSIC

  • you niggers need to shut the fuck up and just listen to the fucking music

  • @lolindeedful did u really have to go that far with it?

  • @beserker1912 yes i did have to go that fucking far with it they need to just shut the fucking nigger asses up and just listen to the fucking music

  • what a good song

  • @JessicaMcCauley11 Wow. The Clash is nothing in comparison to this band. But seriously? Not even Hendrix,The Beatles, or Zeppelin?

  • Def. one of my fav. SP songs! <3

  • Yep

  • I love HNIC chose this for their closing montage to the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year.

  • My greatest memory of this song was when Billy Corgan, in concert at Virgin Fest, said with a straight and completely honest face, that he wrote this song when he was really, really high and if anyone ever gets stoned off of mushrooms, this would be a great song to listen to.

  • @Dizinsightful I belive it. He's really honest with his fans. They just need to watch the video. And they'd be trippin balls. lol

  • @JessicaMcCauley11

Why do you listen to rap? Like, I'm being serious. I can't really see a reason why anyone would listen to it...

  • ...believe in me, cuz i believe in you....still gets me.

  • i first heard this song on a montage of the 2010 stanley cup playoffs and cant stop listening to it now, it's probably the most well put together song i've ever heard

  • @agwideout19 dude hockey sucks my ass

  • @Dltn97 you suck my ass

  • im 10 and this song shreds all music.XD

  • i heard this song two days ago.....sweet lol

  • i play metal, but i still think this is a beautiful song

  • Stop arguing about who's gay and who's stupid and just enjoy the god-damn music. :)

  • Im glad my Aunt played this when I was a baby.

  • Absolutely gorgeous song - the lyrics, the instrumentation, the video. The ninties was the last great cultural era before technology and the interent diluted it into the cesspool it is now.

  • @gavvvvvinrocks Dude. Buckethead's A Real Diamond In The Rough... Electric Tears... Colma... SHADOWS BETWEEN THE SKY! The Homing Beacon. Just LOOK for alternative modern Music. Tenacious D is epic as well, even though they are hard rock. But yeah, too many Super-heavy metal bands and autotuners with only a simple backing. Alternative music LIKE THIS is the best. And Experimental... And yeah.

  • If I were signing off of life, I would probably use this song.

  • @Colerosity im 13...two weeks ago i bought this set of the smashing pumpkins and i can not stop listening to it

  • Great song, Great Band, Great Era

  • wow you people need a life, arguing through youtube? seriously? it's been 2 weeks, let it go

  • @minniemadyrocks im doing it now because its funny to me. i mean, i know its technically trolling, but if i say the smallest thing i know he'll respond, its funny to me.

  • Arguing on internet is like a paraolympic games - even if you win you are still retardet ;-)

  • Holy shit people, I looked through the comments page to see what all the replies are about and it's pretty sad. You guys need to calm down. Tybangy's trolling you guys hard and you're just giving him what he wants, so ignore his comments and move on. Not that hard.

  • @JasonSFSD sorry for all that on the page. i decided to counter-troll. twas fun for me. sorry i did that here tho. If it helps i listened to the song in full everytime i came here lol.

  • @JasonSFSD so true

  • @JasonSFSD yea dude oshit this is 2 months

  • @JasonSFSD Holy shit people, I love this song.

  • *that'd be an idiotic thing to say. My bad.

  • this is massive rip off of manic street preachers Just The End Of Love

  • @mateyboy07 That's funny, because this was released 15 years earlier than that song. Cretin.

  • @ozena52 no shit

  • @mateyboy07

This was first buddy. By uh, 15 years actually. Now, I could go the dumbfuck route and say Manic Street Preachers ripped off the Pumpkins, but that be an idiotic thing to say too seeing that there's only the slightest of similarities.

  • @JasonSFSD Thanks for pointing that out to me, I had absolutely no idea. You see I thought that the Manic's new single came out 15 years ago and that this well-known classic came out only last week. My mistake.

  • @mateyboy07 Hilarious. Why say this was a rip off then?

  • @JasonSFSD i've fallen into the asperger's zone

  • @JasonSFSD btw listen to the verse of the Manics song, the guitar and drums were clearly inspired by this.

  • @JasonSFSD about 20 years old and this song still rocks even 20 yrs after!

  • @mateyboy07

yaaaaa... it's not similar at all... and as already pointed out, SP's Tonight tonight came out first. So your post was all around fail.

  • @Tyler47167yo as already pointed out, i know it came out first. and the guitar and drums are the same, check your ears.

  • @mateyboy07

    nope

  • Either second or first favorite smashing pumpkins song.

  • Either second or first smashing pumpkins song.

  • a great band i miss bands like this

  • love this song.

  • @allex2nv WHAT THE HELL!! YOU GO TO HELL!! YOU DON"T HAVE ANY SPECTACLES YOU PIECE OF SHIT OF PATHETIC OF HUMAN!?

  • @ElKevin2011 I don't see what's so funny "ROFL." Billy Corgan is a whinny little bitch and if you have a boner for him, that means you must be a whinny little bitch as well. The only sad bitter loser here is you, someone disagrees with you so you try and engage them. You must be new to the interwebs because you never engage a troll. This song is TERRIBLE.

  • @Tybangy lol, for someone who thinks this song is terrible, you surely do spend a shit load of time here dont ya?

  • @beserker1912 Spend a lot of time responding to faggots like you who keep messaging me. lol

  • @Tybangy i spend alot of time here to. Responding back to ass smashed dicks like urself.

  • @beserker1912 *too. Nice try faggot.

  • @Tybangy check ur grammar before trying to correct mine, ya ass.

  • @beserker1912 *your, *you. Try again faggot.

  • @Tybangy hahaha. How about this then. I'll be the logical fellow here, and leave. Good day sir. Hahaha wow, I can't believe how big of an ass you are. But I'm getting a kick out of this.

  • @beserker1912 How about this, fuck off and stop messaging me faggot.

  • @Tybangy thats actually a good idea so i dont have to see your shitty posts.

  • @beserker1912 Try taking your own advice and stop messaging me you little faggot.

  • @Tybangy say what now??

  • @beserker1912 you're are a pole smoking emo teen, that's what I'll say now.

  • @Tybangy say what now???? come up with something better.

  • @Tybangy I don't want to divulge into an argument, as I'm sure you don't want to either, so I will not contradict how you feel about billy. I will tell you something he said at a concert I saw him at in dallas last month. "you guys want to hear a sad song? Hey don't laugh, i live in a real big fucking house b/c of sad songs."

  • Billy Corgan is a whinny little bitch.

  • @allex2nv CAPS LOCK

  • Tonight...

  • this song makes you sad but you also feel...complete

you cant put it in words. just great

  • i looooooove this song

  • And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
