just need some perspective here, i dont understand why this move is "claimed" by someone else when it has been done since 2006/2007 by Jenyne Butterfly. is there something different with the mount from Jenyne's?
Hi, VVhartamas. Thanks for your input and correction. Voelle never claimed to invernt this move...It was ME that slapped that name on it. I was not aware that Jenyne had done the move first. I will let your comment stand here as a correction. Jennyne is one of my pole idols, a friend on Facebook, and I would give anything to take one of her workshops. If I have inadvertantly "stolen" credit from her for the move, then I will gladly accept a "smack" on the bum from her when and if we do meet!
yeh im hoping to get my own pole sometime soon so i dont have to go to a studio and will endup being cheaper aswell. you should check out felixpoledancing if you havent already she is crazy, she used to be my teacher but she has moved to the states now but you might be able to pick something up off her
Hi, Bec! Thank You for leaving a comment. You-Tube just fixed its comment counter...and I just saw this message from you. I always try to answer every comment timely. Yes, Felix is AWESOME..one of my favorite pole performers and aerial artists. I just watched her spatchcock video a few days ago...one of the most incredible tricks inpoling. You are lucky to have had her for classes! Thanks for the nice comment and please accept my apologies for answering you so late!
Hi, Bec! This move is a basic way to get inverted on the pole to get into the Brass MOnkey move...which is where the poler is hooked onthe pole by one knee and hanging with the pole down the back. Starting from the ground...instead of with both hands on the pole in what's called the "half bracket" is a little easier. Thanks for watching! Are you a poler or interested in pole dance or fitness? --Joel
ok i have never seen it dont that way before...i get confused with all the names of the moves because everyone calls them something different...i used to do pole dancing i did it for 2/3 years
Cool! Well, if you get back into poling, definitely post a video. I noticed you do make-up art. Quite few of the polers on You-Tube are into M.A.C. products and every once in a while they will post some of their color palette work in a tutorial. Can't say I know much about it, LOL!--but there is an interesting cross-over between the two hobbies. Maybe because many of the lady polers also do a lot of performance work, too!
OMG Joel you did the advanced plank!!! Your on the right track with inverting from a handstand position first, that exactly how I learned the forearm mount into brass monkey! That handstand is a scary move very very good.
Thank You, Veena! I'm really encouraged by your compliment. It's been a problem holding onto progress and maintaining skills. Easter sure didn't help, with all that chocolate and unecessary indulgence that seems to come with the holidays! But I got back on the pole yesterday, trying to consolidate the gemini--clean it up, make it a more reliable move for me. Inch by inch, LOL! By the way, the Forum is really hoppin! Can't believe how much activity you've got going on--Fantastic!
Greetings fellow basement dweller! I am so prod of you. When you pulled off the first couple of no hands inverts I held my breath for you. That endurance hold was fantastic!
LOL! Thanks--basements are kind of cozy for poling--at least after things warm up a little bit. I didn't realize your set-up was "downstairs" also--you actually have a nice sound system and decent curtains. I'm a little tired of my black sheets, I may go in for a change of color scheme this summer! Thanks for the nice compliment--I do like holding the moves for a long time just for the fitness aspect of it...
I bought all five DVD's because it wasn't that much more in American dollars to get all five than just the three. She starts at the very basics. I'm just working with parts I and II, I haven't even opened up II, IV and V yet....
I was just wondering, what volume did you get from Jamilla's dvds? I really don't know if I'm either intermediate or advanced so if you could let me know that'd be great. <3
It's CLOSE...but not quite there. I need to bend the knee, and stick the arms out backwards. I think I am about 80-90% of the way there. I need to practice hanging longer to get comfortable, then I'm going to bend those knees back. Then, eventually, I want to be able to invert from the 1/2 bracket--both hands on the pole...!
LOL, I wish I was as good as you--YOU are kicking MY butt!
I have actually attempted and worked this move on my outdoor pole last summer in a smaller how to clip.....I will send it to you. You did outstanding though, this is a very tough one!!!! I hear BOB!!!!! XOXO
Thanks! This was a great move to get comfortable inverting in a handstand type move to the pole. It's sort of half of a handstand and half of a half bracket, LOL! I'm looking to expand it into the Brass Monkey...well, eventually, anyway!
Thanks...it's actually easier to flip up on the pole from the floorstand position because you can move that floor hand around to a good spot that helps you get your feet up where you want them... Thanks for the nice compliment!
yeah it's like a handspring/ brass monkey type of learning move. very strong to get so far with it joel. you are blowin all of our minds the past couple weeks honey..WTG! xoxo ps- you kick up so high..you'll be doin the brass monkey soon, i kid you not:)
That's exactly what I'm thinking...it's a gateway move straight into the Brass! Basically, I 've got to feel more stable with the legs hooked back. I could practice that by supporting myself in a handstand from the "Voelle" and just squeeze the knee hook until I feel safe and comfortable with it. Then, all I gotta do is let go off the floor and put the hands BACK instead of forward...and I'll have it! Thanks for the encouragement...couldn't do any of this without the moral support of everyone..
Yay well done, you was flipping right up into it at then end! nice!! congrats on the keeping up the stretchin eve day,,, i keep promisin myself i will but often 4get 2.... great job! ;)
your progression is so impressive! congrats on the first hooked-leg invert, and i loved your robot dance!! and not only did you do the plank, but you were also perfectly parallel to the floor! i bet next practice you'll be able to hold it longer.. great video! xx
Thank you! I'm hoping I can eventually do this invert directly from BOTH hands on the pole (half bracket) and maybe get a Brass Monkey. I'm studying other polers' videos who do it this way...I think it's possible, even at my weight and lower flexibility. And I am stretching..every day!
wow joel u held that for a good while!! and that plank was hot ^^ goodjob!!! im too chickenshit to even try from the floor.. i think im terrified of kicking the pole LOL more power to you ^^
Good job Joel! I was laughing so hard at the robot part! That is an interesting hook of the foot on the pole there! I think you've made up a new move! I saw you let go on the plank for a second! good job!!! keep thinking hips up, feet down !
I can't remember who put that on their profile--that they were a "self trained" robot dancer, but it was so funny..and I thought about it during practice...and the music was right, LOL! So anyway, Mich PM'd me to say that they already call the half bracket version of this move the "Voelle" (both hands on the pole)..so I updated the title per her request to reflect proper credit. Mich has 2 vids of it--one with the proper 1/2 bracket-- the other, the floorstand/forearm version like I did here.
Thanks! It was a fun move to learn. And I went back and looked at your channel and noticed that you had also done the full half bracket version of the move in a much earlier video--and called it the Voelle. I want to do it that way also eventually. But the floor version was safer and more comfortable for me--I am very heavy, LOL! Thanks for passinjg on this move--it made for a great practice session for me!
Yes, I just put that one up recently, have been practicing with hand on the floor, and got the guts to try the other hand on the pole. I gotta agree, hand to floor, feels much safer....then again, nothing ventured, nothing gained. LOLx.
OMG I cannot believe you were able to lift your hands with your leg like that! Joel doesn't that hurt with your leg like that? Be careful. That was not a plank fail! You did it! Very nice! The robot dance cracked me up.
Actually, the grip is pretty good in that position, although I rubbed the pole until it was really hot with a rag and a tiny spritz of Windex. That's why the leather golf shoes were squeaking! It is kind of twity on the knee joint...but it's close to the Brass Monkey. Now, if I can just put the arms pointing backwards....and curl the legs a little...BINGO! Brass Monkey. Thanks for watching!...oh yes, the plank...just half a second really...but I want to hold it for a little longer!
Hi! Thank you for clearing that up =)
Yes Jenyne was wonderful to meet in person and fun! ;P
Happy Poling there!
