  • I LOVE how he says it comes from the heart, how you can't take a class, or go to a school that teaches you!

  • So, wait, what's the point of practicing if you won't ever be a "good" storyteller because you weren't blessed by the literary muses at birth?

  • I agree that college helps, because journalism helps you learn what NOT to write as much as what. However, from an artistic point of view, I don't believe education is a prerequisite. 

  • Other writers online who tell you that your only qualification for being a writer is the desire to become one are basically lying to you.

    Depending on what kind of writing you do, qualifications vary. As a freelancer, i can tell you that a lot of publications won't even consider you if you don't have a degree plus experience.

    My advice; Prepare as much as possible. College is the best route-not just for the degree but the writing time.

    This is a tip from a smartass.
