I love this band despite not being christian and all, but I'm curious: Doesn't the bible forbid tattoos? The singer's entire back is filled with them. (check out My Will be a Dead Man. They're clearly visible there)

@elshotaru: In Leviticus, God tells the Israelites not to tattoo themselves. Without getting into intricate detail or a doctrinal debate, Christians sometimes have to take a more objective/historical view on the laws of Moses. Case in point, God also forbade the Jewish people to eat pork, rabbit, deer. Why? Because they didn't have the knowledge to properly clean and cook the animals -- they all would have gotten food poisoning and died.

@elshotaru: Back then, tattoos consisted of cutting or pricking your skin and rubbing lead, blood, and other dyes into the wound and then letting it heal back over. It was incredibly dangerous -- if their immune system didn't kick back hard enough, they were poisoned and died. Nowadays, the process is significantly safer than it used to be. So, the original purpose of the law is void and thus the law is no longer required. That's just my take on it; I'd be interested to hear what others think.
