My life was never endangered by an Iraqi or an Afghan. Our American soldiers were fired up with false promises that they would be toppling a dictator who had something to do with 911, and that the Iraqis would cover them with roses. Maybe not so obvious, but yes, that is the similarity. As I recall, Manson wound up his gang with crazy political plans to set off a "race war," and probably thought he could not be convicted since he didn't participate in the murders.
