Mesapotamia first became assyria by the uniting of cities in Mesopotamia. The persians (Achaemenid Empire) then came in from the far east about 550BC and then the violent arabs came in from the arab peninsula. and more recently the turks came in from the north.
So you see the assyrians are not the same people.
