This sounds like a very early rough mix, but not a demo. Most of the keys and the bass (and maybe some of the other tracks) sound like they may be the actual keeper tracks that made it to the album. either way, its cool to hear this.
Not only the album "Notorious", but for their entire career they've always been underrated as a band. Even in their heyday from 82-85, they were known as a "pin-up girly mag" band. Most people assumed they were a manufactured, no- talent band, who had music writers and computer generated music, etc... No - they are an actual rock band with heavy synths. See them live and you'll know. They've never had the recognition they deserve (not even close). Check out my Duran Videos on my Channel.
it's great to hear this as it's ultimately surprising. you can hear the lyrics are not ready but at the same the basic rhythm as known from the album is already there. what is most striking to me is the presence of the horns at the end at this stage... they sound perfect, not different from "notorious" version which gives you a nice insight into their work. brilliant stuff.
Great song. Completely agree with other posters about this and the album it came from. Great stuff, don't remember it being as big as it should have been!
Long nights listening to this album back then when I was programming my C64. And this was my favourite song. Cool demo version! I like Simon's voice on this. Sings a bit like Robert Smith.
This is my favorite notorious song. For a virtuoso like John Taylor this bass line is incredibly simple but so elegantly tasteful. Ahead of its time; many people didn´t get this album. I certainly enjoy it more now than back then.
This is good to hear i loved this album :)

C64 and Duran Duran, what a combination. Did you program in assembly and if so, what assembler? I am thinking of trying some C64 or Amiga assembly.

This was actually their first release from the album until the band begged Simon to write a song called Notorious.

I actually think that Notorious is a great album in which you can find experience and great humanity.... maybe for their very first time!
