  • I heard about open baffles but I already built a lowther horn so what to do.Then it hit me....what better way to match an open baffle lowther than with a lowther horn 500hz down to 100.And then a subwoofer down to 30 hz.

Oh yeah, now I see the open baffle excitement,no box colorations.

But u need triode amps......300b for open baffle,.Save the tripath amps for the computer.

  • good video and audio, I plan to do similar with my t-amp with Pioneer 8" fullranger B20 and try econowave horn.

  • @gychang00

Pioneer BOFU is a very good fullrange driver, but you will need a very wide baffle in order to have decent bass extension (below 300Hz). Otherwise you can use a subwoofer crossed at 300 hz.

I suggest you to simulate your baffle using "Edge" software and see what you can get.

    regards.

  • @gychang00

you can dowload "Edge" software at (tolvan.com)

  • Great work. They are very, very clean and great dynamic range. Have you considered lowering the woofers down on the baffle to reduce the high bass rolloff?

This is a classic technique for shaping bass response more towards "normal" without clouding the sound.

  • @Emeth1000

You are wright about the bass response, this is the reason I added a dedicated woofer with u-frame, watch my other videos.

  • Believe it or not, what is needed is a sealed box using very high pressure methane ( fart gas) to achieve greater db output and tonal clarity, of course a fairly large box is necessary to achieve this, and of course a pump that can produce between 600 to 700 PSI and the reliable source of good methane, cheers!

  • what is the point of open baffles? Based on what I can find it just reduces bass response.

  • @Imprezaman555

Open baffles completely eliminate the coloration comes from boxes – cabinets, plus you have much better sound dispersion and room acoustics.

Yes you are correct, bass response is reduced by 6 db in open baffle speakers, but if you listen -watch at youtube, my 3 way open baffles using U-frame for bass reinforcement , then you will see that dip and Crystal Clear bass response is achievable.

  • @zakman35 hmm, that makes sense, I'm just getting in to audio but based on what I heard, and for my listening preferences I think I'd still prefer my speakers in boxes. How is that amp by the way? I was thinking of getting one (actually that was the reason I clicked on this video, part of the reason I like youtube, now I know the point of open baffles even though I was only interested in an amp at first)

  • @Imprezaman555 Tripath amps in general have put in same a lot of expensive and highly advertised amps, but as always they do have some disadvantages also.

Since the have only 8-10 watts of power they need to paired with speakers at least 90 db sensitivity and they tend to sound best with a good preamp.

  • @zakman35 There are plenty of high-power Tripath amps. Look at 41 hz audio. I have 2 amps from there myself.. Exellent audio quality. I have both the Truepath and AMP7. Now, i want some open baffles.. they should sound nice..

  • @Anima87 Yes you are wright. 41hz audio is famous about their Tripath amps. I will definitely try them in near future. Thanks.

  • I must say sounds good even for being on youtube, bravo.

    Is that a Trends T-amp?

  • Thank you.

    Yes this is Trends T-amp.

I also test the Trends tube preamp, but didn't like it, (too harsh for my taste).

    Regards.
