I bet they practiced more than any of us when they were super young. I bet they practiced more before they turned 12 than i have since i've turned 12 and i'm 20 now.

Cafiso is a great technician but the teen saxophonist that most impresses me is Grace Kelly. Its almost incomprehensible that someone so young is able to conjure such maturity on the horn. I used to think that in order to sound like the legends you had to pay your dues in jam sessions, practice 6 hours a day and live a somewhat seedy lifestyle. Kelly and Cafiso prove that prodigious talent will every now and then trump experience. Sadly, most of us must get there the old fashioned way!

tayoung- what are you talking about...? Cafiso is a total beast (plus this is 6 yrs ago. 15 years old) and Kelly is good, but just not in the same category at all. I think it's ridiculous how you could come the that opinion. Hopefully you are not a teacher.

How do you ensure you always have your mouth in the same position on the mouthpiece? I went to a very good teacher(ex session) who got me to cut a groove into the mp where my teeth normally placed. It worked but its difficult to "deface" a mp when they cost so much. I think he has his teeth too far forward? Great musician !
