  • your are ignorant and you know nothing about being punk you are dumb as hell and stop making something so simple complex learn something by doing something don't hate off of my people because you think your better because your not congratulations on being a failure punk bands cant sell out because then they never would have been punk Greenday is a bunch of fags and are posers please know what your talking about

  • How does modern punk not exist? There's plenty were I'm from.

  • Another funny thing to know about Marx is that he already claims he was not Marxist. It was quite a individualist but people dont actually read him but only those assholes who interpret him and called themselves marxist.

  • If you really think that's all that punk is now you need to listen to some DIY. Honestly, just because people don't care enough to look past Green Day punk doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • butt other than that, your completley right about the change in what has been popular in punk over the years. reguardless of punk genrea..

but mostly its the new styles that got popular.. some bands have made their marks though.. like NOFX, bad religion, sex pistols, the ramones, the clash, the stooges, and so on.. DIY is common of them all.. the "DO IT YOURSELF" style ;-)

i like videos that make me think, so i`m giving you a thumbs up and a subscribtion ;-)

  • and i kinda think that greenday started out as fundamental punk, and went more in to softcore punk later.. take bad religion.. they have probably played every punk genrea there is..

  • punkbands dont have to be political, punk is also a style of music. it has clearly instrumental and musical style. the cultures around it varies alot. you got skate punk, thrash punk, ska punk.. aso.. but as of the old original bands it has changed a bit.. but one have to understand that punk isn`t defined only by culture.. it`s also defined as bands who didn`t have any musical background.. and started in a garage somewhere.. but punk is a big suporter of anarky..

  • Original punk had one rule:

    You do not define punk

    The rule was broken.

    Punk died.

  • The ideologies of punk have been obscured, and seems to only remain as an image/music genre. As you say things change with the times, but I think this is only really true for the meaning of the WORD "punk". The ideology of punk still exists, but we label it differently and no longer seem to associate it with the music.

For the likes of Flogging Molly I'd think it still appropriate to call it punk even though it has culture mixed in with it. Things change as dictated by the zeitgeist.

  • The culturally subversive elements of punk are alive and well, they are just where they have always been.Buried in the sub culture. The new generation of punk has 2 faces, much like hip-hop, a toned down and less confrontational version has been callously produced to cash in on the surrounding culture.Punk does not contain only one ideology, there are Marxist, social libertarian, anarchist, etc. strains of the meme. These are real people expressing the rejection of tradition and ideologies. contd-
