Yeah, you will most likely end up putting another two coats on. You could start by putting a white primer on. Make sure you mix the primer 50/50 white mineral spirits just as you would with the paint.

If you have a darker color underneath like Black Cherry and i want to put white over it. Would it be more coats than normal?
