  • It's like Craftmine: Tomb Raider Anniversary mod ;P

  • @egemen3555 tr ann is a remake

  • @SSX12345ify I know, I played both of them. I thought graphics of the first TR was awesome back in the day... But, now I feel like it's like craftmine (bad graphics with enjoyable playing). Do you know what I mean?

  • @egemen3555 what ever is great for its time i dont say it sucks

  • Oh god too much nostalgia! When I used to play this, I had a recurring dream going over two golden (even though they're not really meant to be golden) bridges and falling in everytime to be devoured by wolves.

  • Aww I miss these graphics D:

  • Back when games took more than 5 hours to complete...

  • @videogamenostalgia LOL IKR!!!

  • I'm having a retro buzz and planning to buy a Saturn or a Dreamcast, not sure yet. Probably Saturn for a gigantic amount of titles. Do they sell any adapters which allow you to play on an HD screen? They have a VGA adapter for Dreamcast but I can't really find any info on Saturn quite yet. Anyone..?

  • Is it true the Sega Saturn has better graphics?I have the PS1 version and I don't know.I don't care for graphics and TR 1 is awesome anyway but I just wanna know...

  • @flamesdemon19 PS1 has better graphics. But they seem to be more blurry than on Saturn. And there's a bunch of other small nyances in Saturn version which makes me prefer that over PS1 version.

But I suppose it's up to one's personal taste. I got the Saturn version as a kid, so that's why I guess I'm more attached to the Saturn version.

  • @karri2 Well.Makes sence.I love TR1 anyway.And I don't care much for graphics.I mean,its the same game after all...Btw,have TR2 and 3 been made for the Sega Saturn?

  • @flamesdemon19 sega saturn has better graphics than ps1 on 2d games

  • ahhhhh the memories :)

  • It looks a little choppy at times. It appears that the PS1 version was the superior version, as was almost always the case. However it still looks good and very playable.

  • nice only yesterday i got a copy of this game havent tryed it out yet tho i cant wait :)

  • 4:45 what the hell are u running from or something? the theme tells me that somethings happening but what?

  • @DanNZ4 First the wolves, then timed door.

  • man some themes from this i noticed are also in the sequel of tomb raider but i perfer 2 and 3 over 1st tomb raider

  • 4:06 love the theme

  • This game use to be the shit!!! Ahhhh childhood memories you will never be forgotten.

  • @karri2 I know you ran through the level completely and saved at the end, but I am just starting this game lol, and I was wondering if that is "save crystal" @2:43 , above the bear? Nice walkthrough! I will definitely come back to it when I get stuck. THANKS

  • @m15granger Yes, it is a save crystal :) Thanks. Be aware though that, this guide does not (yet) include the last 3 levels.

  • @karri2 Thanks! I'll have to go solo on the last 3 levels :]. I picked this up for my Saturn recently. Cool game you can actually find complete for pretty inexpensive online compared to other "popular" or colt classic titles! I really am liking the Saturn version, I played the PS1 back in the day.

  • I love how the wolves clearly run in perfectly straight lines, judging by the pawprints at the start...

  • I beat your time by 4 seconds :) Shame it's the only level where I do :P

  • Takes patience but boy was it worth it. So many times I felt like crying and quitting but persevered. Immense satisfaction upon completion and still remains by far the best of all the games, and one of my favourites ever.

Some people just didn't take to TR

  • I REMEBER PLAYING THIS AS A KIS -CRIES-

  • Looks boring, couldnt even beat level 1 on this game.

  • @steve5123456789 I had this game in my childhood and loved it. Some people see what the game has that makes it brilliant, others don't.

  • @steve5123456789 i was like that everytime i tried it but today i got to level two and the jumping missing a platform and falling in the water did my head in so bad after an hour or two on the same bit i turned it off possibly forever

  • Also, she seems to be a little bit too skinny on the PS1 version, I'm used to her legs (for instance) of the Saturn and when I played the Sony version, it was weird to notice that.

  • There's a place on the Colosseum wherein the Saturn version, if you don't think of pushing one block (just for the whatever), you won't find a key, and you'll push the lever to the biig door on Caesar. On the PS1 version, the key is in plain sight, so there is not "Oh, damn, this door isn't anything.. what did I miss?" - That, right there, is the worst console transfer thing...

  • this takes me back too when i had my frist sega satrun

  • This was easily my favorite game on the Saturn (other than Residen Evil). I would spend hours on it. The gameplay was just so unique, challenging, and fun!

  • This game bored me sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

  • saturn version seems like playstation version ,are you agree? if there are differences? where are theses differences? between ps one and saturn version?

  • @sfourne2 Saturn: Worse graphics but sharper than PS, faster framerate, some different sound effects, more small bugs, some different item placements, one secret does not exist (a bug in PAL version only), Uzi Guy says his lines when he's dying instead right after shooting him the first time, longer loading times, different loading screens... I'm sure there's more but can't think of anything else right now.

  • Really? I've heard in gaming magazines that the Saturn had inferior looking games despite being more powerful. Also it was mentioned that the way the Saturn rendered polygons made them look worse than the Playstation. What were they talking about in that article?

  • It was too hard to code games for Saturn that would utilize the console's full power (using the two RISC processors). I like the Saturn version graphics more (clearer and faster) than PS (blurry and slow framerate), although PS version's polygon edges "stay together" better than on Saturn, where they kind of "move" or "shake", you know.

  • @karri2

    Very good desription :)

  • @technoat0m

Technically, the Saturn was a more powerful console because it had a dual processor. Unfortunately though most (if not ALL) 3rd party developers were somewhat unfamiliar with how to get the most out of this technology, thus they weren't capable of making full use of it.

  • @Forzaabruzzo to be correct, the Saturn had 9 individual processors. :)

  • @technoat0m they actually used quadrileteral rendering instead of the normal tri render which the ps1 and the n64 used as well, thus , in fact digged poor saturns own graveyard...+ what karri said is exactly reversed...the ps version polygons didnt stay together, and the saturns did....plus the saturn could not render formal object, such as a triangle...thats why u cant see any object referring to it in any saturn game!

  • @TheSpyChecker Quad-based 3d hardware was hardly a major reason for the Saturn's failure. As for rendering a triangle on the saturn, it is possible, but only as an approximation of the shape (2 vertexes of a quad placed as close together), not suitable for textures designed for a triangle, and of course, it is a waste of a vertex for anything other than a pure triangle shape. I don't really believe that quads are inferior to triangles, they just need to be used differently to be effective.

  • @technoat0m Well, the saturn could only render quadrilateral primitives rather than the triangles, which have almost always been the standard. Quads aren't necessarily worse, but they're not the standard, and have fewer tools to work with, thus, worse graphics :P.

  • @karri2 Saturn has much faster loading times and doesn't look as grainy, only the Greek levels have different screens, better audio, blue save crystals over purple,no overwrite option because the Saturn has a battery. No loading bar on loading screens

Also does PS1 have other controls options than the default?

Did you use a Model Controller or the Launch Controller to beat it? I used the theLaunch controller

  • I dont know if this is just me but I think this game looks more realistic with blocky textures as in the saturn version. It gives everything a more mysterious look at a distance.

  • thank u for this vid. its make me crying... so many unsleee days at my saturn andu TR... hmmm me at 10years old and ny console...... nostalgia!!!!!

  • why is she jumping like that? is having a great time? lolz

  • this game is so slow that it ain't funny.i have it for saturn and i quit bothering damn it is slow.

  • Hmm, hasn't slowed my playing down, it doesn't bother me. And it's still faster than on PS.

  • okay but i see you have a certain method of playing run/jump method wich makes it faster.i'm just pretty impatient most of the time.

  • I think its youtube that makes it slow I have this game on both systems and its not slow.

  • no i played this on my saturn, and for me it was a drag trought.maybe i'll need to give it a shot aggain to like it.i think so ;).

  • doesn't look so bad actually

  • what version are you using ? (EU/US/JP)

ive got the EU version(also on the saturn), and for some reason it seems like this runs faster and with no slowdown (we had plenty of slowdowns)

  • It's the PAL version (EU).

  • I was addicted beyond belief to this game as a kid! Was without a doubt one of the best titles to ever come out for the Saturn!

  • Oh, my gosh! You were almost out of health! What were you thinking??

  • Going through the level as fast as I could.

  • Oh. So it's a speedrun. You didn't mention that in the description.

  • It's not so flawless as a speedrun, so I rather wrote "Complete Run" rather than the even longer "complete speedrun" or something :P

  • I got through this level without losing any health.

  • Of course it's entirely possible, but not in a speedrun.

  • I say the graphics where better on the Saturn then the PS1 Version and the pc one I have never played.

  • Wow! I didn't know tomb raider came on the saturn! It seems the graphics were better on the PC, though.

  • El mejor tomb raider de la historia.

  • This game would scare the crap out of me and plus they dont make classics like this anymore

  • @WinstonMovies i was just about to say that lol it was the silence and the darkness, loved it!

  • @WinstonMovies i agree when i had it on ps1 i nearlly shit my self but i own the saturn version now

  • oh man i love this game oh but when you open a door and your hear a sound clip or music starts playing something bads gonna happen thats how i always knew how to be ready

  • damn i miss the classic's =D

  • muy buen juego aunque mejor el anniversary de graficos. alguien sabe donde puedo bajarle?

  • WHY ALL THE JUMPING

  • It's a lot faster than just running, don't you know..

  • yeah, but its annoying to watch.

  • Well that's what you do in a speedrun.

  • You mean speedjump

  • Aww, love it!

Anniversary is great too but this one has a nostalgia bonus for me. Currently playing the second one but am not enjoying it as much as this one.

  • I hate the new Tomb Raiders (Anniversary and Legend). The level designs are too "clean". Everything is at right angles, with ledges and handholds clearly visible. It is way too easy to discern where you need to go.

Compare that to the original Tomb Raider. All the levels designs are irregular with weird angles, just like a real cave or tomb, and its harder to determine where you need to go. Even though the graphics are generations behind, it is more organic and natural.

  • u raise a point but other then that i do dis agree with the hateing of thows games there still got a good feature and atleats it isn't going into a difarent storie it's still continuing from the other games

  • It does go into a different story. When Crystal Dynamic's took over Lara, they completely re-vamped the entire thing, and all of Core's games were to be ignored. They even changed her biography, so it doesn't continue from the old TR games, it wipes the slate clean and gives birth to a new TR series.

  • well fuck Crystal Dynamics how dare they ruin a good game i hate it when that happens to games they all ways change companies and the nw compeny witch now owns it complelty fucks every thing up

  • @RocinanteSWS

    Right on man!

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

  • @RocinanteSWS In AOD they had improved the graphics and their gameplay was more realistic.Too bad it had those bugs though...It was a sign they could make TR games with both graphics and good gameplay...

  • This game was amazing. Yeah, some of it was a bit wrong (St. Francis Folly takes place in Greece, but they used some of the Roman Gods such as Thor and Neptune). I like this game better than Anniversary ... they kind of overdid it. It was a great re-imagining, but it was a little overkill.

  • Thor is a Norse God. =P

  • My game!!!!!!!!!

  • the sega saturn version is way better! playstation version takes too long to load i think

  • On the ps1 Version I never could get her up there to the 2nd secret

  • Awesome game. I'd still take the original TR over most Xbox360 or PS3 action/adventure games.

  • Haha! 5:44, the result of constant jumping.

  • :D haha

  • Good for playstation version because she moves so slowly , excellent

  • well done!
