IMO Porsche GT3 and NSX -R are best option for track days, even EVO RS. 380RS sounds little lazy, but probably have lot's of torque at whole rpm range
I don't know why people are claiming this to be biased. This is a different type of course. If you saw a Porsche loose in a rally race would you still complain??? It's the same thing here. Touge is way different than actual race tracks. And you are absolutely ignorant if you think they are always letting jap cars win on this show. There is a ton of races where they show jap cars losing to german ones.
Porsche 911 GT3 would spank any of these cars on a real track.
Laguna Seca, etc. Classic RWD with manual gear box and best power to weight ratio than all these cars. Fastest acceleration, best handling, and the most skills required.
you cant say the japanese are biased cuz they chose a japanese car because three out of four of them were japanese in the first place! your all just butt-hurt your favorite car didnt win! i wanted the 380 to be the best but im not gonna bitch about it and make dumb shit up the evo is a great car and im going to trust a professional driver that ACTUALLY drove all the cars rather than myself.
@crzygutrsnobrdr : The 370Z is revamped modern day Z car... new headlights and tailights design manifest the latest model design for the car... and an increase in power as well (i.e. Z34 chassis code). The Z car you're seeing on this video is based on a 350Z (i.e. Z33 chassis code) -- Give a good look at the headlights and tailights... Except that, being the 380RS it's given some aerodynamic treatment and power increase by Nismo. =]
Of course he is not comfortable in the GT3, it doesn't have TC-SST and S-AWC comprising of ACD, AYC, ASC, S-ABS and in the future maybe also ASS and RCS.
But most important of all, he is not German, he is Japanese!
He stayed around 4-5k rpm in the porsche in the bends. Its meant to be driven near the redline in tight winding roads like that. Does not seem he was comfortable pushing it in the GT3.
@porschturb : Maybe it's because of the gear ratios (?) I believe the GT3's got quite some tall gear ratios and may not fit that particular corner of the gunsai touge (?)
go fuck ur japanese cars , the porsche still the best even if u look threw ur in car camera u ll see that the porsche was the fastest and the best handeling and looking car , so go dig a hole in the ground and berried ur self
@boujouj : Porsche's heritage and lineage has always been racing. Japanese cars are, well, performance wise they are there, but not necessarily racing-wise. Making them fit for racing would require tuning. Although even Porsche's need tuning too... but there's always something about this legendary brand that's a track performer right out of the factory! I love Porsche too... but if I am asked if I love any Japanese sports cars -- it has to be a tuned version to compete thereof.

i didn't mean that as a dis to the driver at all. haha i get these thumbs down why? i just think it would be scary because he pushes the limits and i would be on the edge of my seat. i guess people just took my meaning out of context.
Before watching this video I had a feeling the 350z will win, and guess what, it did win. Why did I expect it to win? Because GTChannel is bias for Nissan.
@scarfaceXtc Its not the fact of the car being Japanese, it is how well they drive on the course they are on. With the GT3's Autobahn tuned dampening and Autobahn tuned gear ratios, its not suited for this Tougue course. That is why its in last. Also typically all Japanese tuned cars are tuned with super close gear ratios because of the limited racing courses and back roads in Japan. One more thing is that nobody really cares about your opinion. Thats why we're watching this video.
Genius, probably out of the couple of hundred people that read your comment I'm the only one that replied. Like I said before. No one really cares about your opinion. I'm telling you so because someone has to.
@e2emceesquared The fact is, we are watching a japanese made test. i have watched many of them, and all the times the porsches come behind the jap cars . . .
@e2emceesquaredI know its a late respond, but do you reallize why the GT3 was built?well, for sure not to be driven on autobahn.that place is reserved for the Carrera and Turbo.GT3is a pure track car.one of the best of its kind, and these japanese simply discriminating it.to think that they compare a 20yrs old NSX to a new 997 GT3...btw.why don't they take acceleration, steering, torque etc.into account instead of balancing and fun factor???is that a test for children?where are the lap times anyway?
@e2emceesquared one thing about your comment thats incorrect . the gt3's drivetrain and suspension are not tuned for the autobahn(highway). its the most track tuned out of all the 911's and is made to be driven hard. everything about the gt3 is focused on pure performance driving on the track, not cruising on the highway. the 911 gt3 is one of the best race-able cars you can buy, thats why so many private race companies use them, with minimal tuning. the other cars are just easier to drive.
@danelio You are correct. But just to add on that, the GT3 is designed for high speed tracks (thus the rear wing for high speed cornering downforce) such as the nordschleife, not touge course. Cheers.
@hadabenz the nurburgring has several touge like sections, it is the toughest track in the world. i think these cars are pretty even, but a different kinda of driving was needed for the porsche , and it wasn't applied. its the harder car to drive but it could have been driven much faster. they even use gt3s in rally and hillclimb races and it does very well. its basicly a race car. put race tires on all those cars and it would be a different story.
@danelio I agree with what you're saying. A 911 requires a completely different approach to driving technique indeed. Break before turns, steady throttle while turning, and hard throttle to exit the turns with utmost traction due to rear bias. However the touge course is relatively short as well, with a lot of Low Speed "Ss" and/or "chicanes". But again, every cars in the hands of Tsuchiya will fly at their best at Touge.
riiiggghhttt and when a euro show test the cars there is no bias at all right? stfu and accept that on those roads the 911 gt3 is not as at home as it would be on a track. and really, who gives a fvck about your book and what wins in it.
The thing is I think that it was a GT3, a track car, up against three cars that were not so tightly measured for track duty. If it were a GT2 or Carrera S, then the only reason why it would be on the bottom of the list is that he's biased.
Also the 380Z-RS looked like it was not as solidly built as the other cars. You could see stuff bowing and flexing in the cockpit. The Shifter looked like it was flapping a bit, too.

@sdlausen You forgot to add the decreasing CO2 emissions, increasing HP and MPG even after government mandating all these safety regulations. Very few or maybe less than 5% of cars built in 2000 would pass 2012 regulations.
ironic... ''how would these cars feel on the streets and in the real world'' well i would want to see someone driving in real life on the roads like that...
I am right handed, and I could never imagine shifting with my left! It's a right/left brain thing. Weird I can ride a bike one-handed with my left, but crash if I used my right. I have to wipe with my right. Eat with my right...
