  • This song always makes me think of Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island, like if Mary Ann ever got killed on the island, during her funeral, Ginger,by herself, or everybody all together would sing it as she was lowered into her grave...Cause Mary Ann and Ginger were usually the people who would clean, and it says in the song, "Mary stayed behind and starts, cleaning up the place..." And the person singing in the background sounds like her singing,too...100 likes:Sing it 4 sch.talent.show! (me!) :D

  • @isafe99 ikr???? o btw hi me!!!! :D lol

  • Serisoley? Pretty everyone of u pplz came to tis song cuz of a movie? god.. I have been listening to this since i was 1! (11 yrs. ago, im 12 yrs.old 7th grade) I dont think i want to know what Sons of Anarchy is.... Xp

  • Thank's Sons Of Anarchy :D

  • The Ground Truth.

  • Sons of Anarchy - Season 2 - Episode 10

Gemma tells jax and clay that she's been raped..

I almost cried when i watched that episode!

    SOA FOR LIFE <3

  • @xiTaLeNTzxHD Yeah seriously. Though I didnt cry when the credits rolled it took me a while to collect my thoughts after the credits rolled cause that scene COMPLETELY sucked me in with its performances and music. I TRULY believed that these fantastic actors were all related and honestly felt their pain as Gemma told them her horrific ordeal. An absolutely heartbreaking but also beautiful scene that was, in my personal opinion, one of the best I have ever seen on television.

  • @jediknightgeo indeed!

the actors is really living in their characters :)

  • I thought that was a beautiful song. I am surprised this music video does not have more views and more comments.

  • There ain't that much that can make me cry. But when i listen to this song, its a waterfall. Even if i dont listen to her words, im in tears. The rhythm and her beautiful voice bring me to tears. It's so beautiful, wonderful and so perfect. I love this song. :-)

  • this song's so awesome! i'd heard it 4 the first time, while watching 'SOA', when gemma 'fesses up to jax & clay, 'bout being raped... man, that's some emotional stuff right there, believe you me!

  • So beautiful words can not express what emotions it has brought out for me. THANK YOU

  • the first time i heard this song was when it was played during SOA and it brought tears to my eyes .. love it so much !

  • this song...it cuts across time and space and religion and hunger and hatred and everywhere and everything in between....except for that dark place thatt fear and greed and methamphetamine has stolen our brethren to.

  • The voice of an angel

  • Heard this song first time when viewing the sons of anarchy. Perfect song for the scene of Gemma telling Jax and Clay about the raping. Could listen this song all day long!!

  • Very few artists are able to move me the way she does. I could listen to her 24/7 and still have tears in my eyes when I hear this song.

  • bliss. thank you, Patty!

  • what a beautiful song... thanks so much patty!! we love uuu

  • Wow,what a hauntingly beutiful song with heart wrenchingt lyrics. If this was sung in churches every week instead of the usual "cum by yas" then the collection plates would be a lot fuller and the congregations much bigger!

  • I just saw this being played during the ending credits of "The Ground Truth."

God bless and keep us all. ALL.

  • (This is in continuation of what I wrote a few minutes ago) While Gemma didn't lose anyone at that time, (her son Thomas died a long time ago) being raped, she probably felt she lost a lot of things, such as her dignity, and self-respect. When she finally opened up about her rape, the healing process can begin and move with life. Thus, Gemma being the strong (mother) person that she is.

  • I just bought one of her live albums. She mentions this song was inspired by her grandma, Mary O'connor. Whether people think this is about Mary, the mother of Jesus, is up to our own interpretation. I think this song goes a little bit deeper than we think. IMO, I think the songs represents all the mothers who grief from the loss of their children, and still remain strong throughout their trials, and know that in time, she will eventually heal from her wounds.....just as Gemma did.

  • I just bought one of her live CD's and she said that this song was inspired by her mother, Mary O'connor.

  • @thedarkpanther i will give you the mother of god part is over the top part the rest of the prayer is asking for her to pray for them just like priest. Vicars,Minsters and friend and family. And the sooner we stop fighting over how we worship the better because in the end our relationship with god is just that our relationship. Think of how many wars would not have happen if we had been tolerant. Christ preached one thing above all peace and good will to ALL MANKIND

  • @thedarkpanther this is only my opinion but to me this song has nothing to do with divine love but that of a mothers love. That's a love that is so strong. the song make me think of all those mothers that have lost sons and daughter to all those brutal and horrible thing in the world, A mother should not have to bury there child so for that reason I love this song. Ps I am catholic and I don't worship Mary and use the term used is Mother of Christ which she was.

  • @thedarkpanther Well we made it past the "May 21st rapture" which isn't a GOOD sign for us still remaining. lol anyway sry for the misinterpretation..much love as always to you all.

  • @thedarkpanther It's bigger than just living life :-) Jesus is the MAN and he knew what he was doing..don't mourn him...CELEBRATE him. :-) love ya all huuuuuuge hugs to every1

  • BEAUTIFUL song!!!

  • One person likes Lady Gaga

  • Beautiful :)

  • Thumbs up if SOA brought you here!

  • Heard this song at the end of Sons of Anarchy. Really made the scene. I almost cried and can't stop listening to it now. I <3 Jax

  • saw this song at the end of a SOA episode. great song, it really made the scene!

  • If anyone can, please post the ending of Balm on youtube. That was one of the most powerfull, touching and educative scenes in any TV series/movies I have ever encountered.

  • I too heard it on the Sons episode, and I too think it was perfect for the scene. But that isn't why I'm posting this comment... I just need to tell everyone how beautiful I think this song is. Even thou I don't think it's possible to put it in words. thank you for this song...

    Simply Amazing

  • Wow this song just catches you and you cant help but listen and the replay it over and over

  • also heard it on SOA , it was soooo deeeep, like gemma sharing the situation after JAX wanted to go Nomad, it went to so well, but im starting to feel like all the music on the show is becoming my new fav songs, and before i never ever listened to this type of music. i was always the rnb , rap kinda guy , but this music is so refreshing.

  • song played when my mother died, so i means a lot to me, also cryied at SOA Balm- when gemma talks about rape... pff always get tears in my eyes when i hear it ! great song !

  • All i can say is wow and thank god for shows like this that are introducing me to amazing music!

  • all I can say is wow!

  • Never seen SOA, but this has been a favorite of mine for about a decade, I don't anticipate ever growing tired of it.

  • Almost drove me to tears when I heard this song and saw the end of the Sons of Anarchy episode.. Beautiful..

  • SOA:Balm=Goosebumps, still.

  • I also heard it on Sons of anarchy..so great song! it makes me cry every time I see that scene, its so powerful..

  • I think this song is beyond words on how great it is. Yes it was portrayed in SONS very well, but listen to the lyrics and actually listen to it for the lyrics and why this song was made, not just because it was on SONS. This song displays a very important part in everyone's life, and deserves to be listened to.

  • War is Hell!

  • ABSOLUTELY FUCKIN BRILLIANT. NO DOUBT.

  • So beautiful and sad song, it makes me cry, when I listen this I always thing of SOA. I hope, that 4th season will be soon, this is perfect show. I love it.

  • Honestly, whoever is responsible for choosing tracks for SoA deserves every award they can throw at him/her. This was yet another brilliant match for the "Balm" final montage. It ranks right up there with Sun Kil Moon's "Alesund" during "Bainne".

  • SOA, i so cried....

  • I cried to death when first heard it while Gemma tells her story :\

  • The best....I buried my son also..

  • it's a song about WOMEN.. and the archetypal woman <3

  • What a beautiful song, thank you for posting - heard it on Sons of Anarchy and it's amazing.

For those who are put-off by religious songs...don't think of it in that way; the song is much too beautiful to be categorized and discarded.

    One love. :)

  • @BrunetteBBW I first heard this at the end of the SOA episode "Balm"....it was perfect for the scene in played during.

  • @guitarrebel22 Same here! I loved the song and how it was portrayed and just had to look it up!

  • @guitarrebel22 same here

  • @guitarrebel22

I tear up EVERY time I watch that scene. Even if I watch it 10 times in a row, it still has the same effect. Best and most powerful scene of the series. Beautifully written, directed, performed, and the music is 100% perfect. Hits me hard every time.

  • @BrunetteBBW couldn't have said it any better.

  • i pray god stays with you all for now, but he has already abandoned me.
