AK's built by state run arsenals are generally good quality and that includes Hungary's FEG, but Century Arms products, like the WASR have had alot of issues.

Why does everyone bash the WASR-10? I own one and have never had a problem. No mag wobble, canted sights, trigger slap, NOTHING. mine cost me $300 these MAK-47 rifles are alot more and they do the same thing.

@The88camaro but they do the same thing with reliability. Thats the difference, YOUR WASR is working fine but many dont. Thats bc the wasr was made in Romainia on a reciver that was originally made to you low-cap single stack mags..then Century cuts the mag well out so it can accept std 30rd mags BUT, the reciver doesnt have mag-dimples like you see here on this reciver right above the mag, if Century cuts that mag well out wrong, youre screwed. Not all Centurys are like this, just the WASRs

@The88camaro Now Century has gotten better over the years, and not all Centurys are actually made by Century, mine is the AMD-65 and it was built on a DCI reciever and wasnt actually built by Centruy, it was subcontracted out. If you want a Century you need to know what youre looking at and youve got to know your AKs, not all Century AKs are the same, if you get a Tantal or a WASR youre running a greater risk of getting a lemon. Norinco doesnt make lemons, they were rated better than Russians.

I agree the mak 90 is a great gun however after getting the wasr set to your liking its hard to beat but like i said no harm meant towards your mak 90 its just a prefrence and by the way thiner reciever is a plus on the wasr for the reason that 1st its lighter but more importantly whenever you fire the ak the gun flexes and the mil spec 1 thick can flex with the rifle where as the 1.6 cant after long periods of time it can cause it to crack mil specs always do it right for a reason great reveiw

Also, the MAK-90 was based on the Type 56, a chinese variant of the AK-47 (it retained most of the Milled receiver AK-47 features, including higher quality parts and heavier weight, but adopted a stamped receiver). The Type 56 doesn't really have much to do with the Romanian AK's (SAR-1-3, WASR 2/10, AIMS) except once again the stamped receiver, which still is somewhat different (it's thicker and provides better accuracy and durability). regarding 5.45, it's basically a necked down M43 round.

first, to clear out the part regarding the history and the sturmgewehr. Kalashnikov was part of a competition for a soviet assault rifle that 4-5 people were in (including him). He had around 3 prototypes before finishing the type 1 AK, which was modified 3 times over into what is called the AK-47, named the AKM. It had virtually no relation to the Sturmgewehr (only conceptual, even the AK-47 cartridge was around before the Sturmgewehr). It was more related to the M1 Garand. ANyways great vid.

I ordered the tapco trigger and fire control parts and that will give me 3 U.S. parts. I will add a U.S. stock kit and then it will be all legal.

I love my mak 90. I got it for 450$ and I also got 4 30 round clips. The gum works great but it had some issues with the handel. I got a GREAT new stock from cheap-as-dirt magazine. I would tell anyone who loves 5.56 wepons to buy this!

i tell you it can be a hassle this gun. I hate the thumbhole stock and it was pretty hard to find a replacement stock and pistol grip that was LEGAL remember for any MAK-90 owners you have to have at least 10 US parts on a forgien gun so remember that or the BATF can take it away from you

the MAK 90 is the best AK variant. it was made as a brand new semi auto only version of the chinese type 56 rifle... the WASR is a piece of crap, 40+ year old parts mixed and matched together on new (non spec) receivers. if you want an AK, try to avoid the WASR and go for a MAK.

I disagree with you on that one. Yes I agree with the fact that the Wasr-10 is a huge steaming load of shit (I had to learn the hard way.) .But, a Mak-90 being a high quality Akm varient non the less, the Egyptian Maadi and the Russian Sgl-21 are much highier quality rifles.

@rllang01 I love my MAK's and Chinese AK's, but you are trashing the WASR too much. My fine works fine. All the parts on my WASR match. If it wasn't used, then the age doesn't matter. The parts from the WASR's for the most part, appear to be not used.

@rllang01 The wasr 10/63 doesnt really suck. I owned the same mak-90 as this video. It was a nice gun, minus the fact that it had no bayonet lug or cleaning rod under the barrel. Bayonets are lame anyway, I chopped mine down and turned it into a tac- light. Wasr shoots just fine though and the parts are military grade
