  • chunked lod???

  • Omg. If you had a very large budget and a good crew, you'd develop an awesome game that i'd play. This leads somewhat to the game Mount and Blade, my all time favourite Medieval RPG. ;D

  • Can I ask how you do the ui windows in XNA? I'm fairly new to it but wasn't aware of any inbuilt classes. Are they just manually coded?

  • not to be rude and all but you should add a view bob

  • this is pretty awesome. Nice job with the UI.

  • This is awesome! You should totally reduce the source code

  • whats the new version of the game suppose to be like?

  • @himynamesfather I haven't on Britonia for about a year now because of work / uni / and a WP7 game I wanted to finish first

  • nice game but whn you turn left or right the camera make some disturbing movements that long time can make nausea.. lol

but nice work someday i will get a project like that im experienmced just with 2d games (im a bad modeller)

  • whoa did you do this by your self?

  • Actually I think it looks quite good overall.

  • @noxrawr Thanks. This video is pretty old now and the 'game' (when I get back to it) actually changed to a space sim. So inevitably most of that UI has gone. I just didn#t want to admit it last week :)

  • @noxrawr Alright hehe, I suppose you have made the terrain with a map editor? If so, how long did it take you to make that map editor? Personally I am not much of an XNA programmer, but have quite decent knowledge of c# and im trying to get more into XNA.

  • @noxrawr Hi, no the terrain is genrerated as a heightmap as you walk around. It uses perlin noise which amoung other things, means the terrain will always genrerate the same way each time you go somewhere and coem back.

  • I had to point out, that your UI makes me nauseous. As a software developer it makes me nauseous. Please throw away your UI completely and start over. Are you seriously going to put floating windows, collapse-able windows, and all that UI pollution in your game?

I guess you have to start learning UI design from somewhere. As long as NONE of this is in the final game.

  • @NullSoldier I had to point out that your comment made very little sense to me. Are you seriously suggesting that 4X games should't have collapsible, floating windows? Granted the art in this 16 month old video isn't special, I think this kind of UI is great for trade based simulation games. If you'd like a like of other games with floating windows, just give me a shout.

Plus how am I to take your opinion on UI elements seriously when your homepage features two giant dancing pink manga cats?

  • @lintfordpickle So you're going to justify bad UI with logic? I shouldn't have come off as insulting considering now you're not only ignoring what I'm pointing out but justifying your mistakes. I understand that I shouldn't have pointed out your mistakes in that fashion and I apologize but by the god of UI design you are making a horrible mistake here.

I don't care how many games before yours have had bad UI I don't think you should follow suit.

  • @NullSoldier to me it looks alot like wow type ui lol dosnt seem to be much wrong with dont like where map is but rest looks good, can you post what you think is a goodUI , so a rpg dont post a HuD shot from a fps or somthing lol

  • @NullSoldier lmao

WoW has floating UI windows, and it works great. L2Game before criticizing.

  • This makes me want to learn XNA so badly :(.

  • Nice! I'm new to XNA programming and I really wan't to do something like this :-D How long have you been programming in C# ?? And Do you have any tips for me or any website I should visit for tutorials and stuff? I really wan't to get into 3D games!

  • Reminds me of oblivion.

  • very cool. the character height is a little weird, but everything looks pretty good for a WIP!

btw your terrain looks huge! how did you do that?

  • hi thanks.

actually I don't think the camera was tied to the ground for any part of the video.

the planet is done using quadtrees projected as a sphere, using 3d noise for the heights to avoid seams.

  • In the words of the ever-wise Borat

    "v'nice how much?"

  • VERY nice!! This may very well be the new Mount&Blade I think... And with the trading and stuff... Wow...

  • you seem to have come a long way, very promising results :)

  • wooot! cant wait

  • Awsome dude, good progress!
