I love Bluejeans and Moonbeams. It's not your traditional edgy Captain. It's the romantic Captain. I believe the guitar player is...........not Zoot Horn.....but maybe Dean Smith. Ira Ingber on bass....brother of the great Elliot......The Captain can do whatever he wants brother.

@1967ax I won't argue with you on that last line. They aren't bad records, it's just that there isn't anything which sets them apart from a lot of other decent records (with the exception of his voice). The lyrics are ho-hum, and the music is so-so. I don't think anyone's life was changed by these records apart from the people who played on them.

Listen to it all except the two Tragic Band records, 'Unconditionally Guaranteed' and 'Bluejeans and Moonbeams'. Have you heard "Dirty Blue Jean" or "Pachuco Cadaver" or "Lick My Decals Off, Baby" or "Electricity" or "Click Clack" or "Floppy Boot Stomp" or... My god, he's done so many great things.

The best of Beefheart and the magic band. They peaked on this one. The best of the best. Both guitars are amazing.Drums going full tilt.The band is in full flight, over the top.Captain Beefheart.What a great name.

I used to think this song was "funny". it was a prediction!

Where'd we be without this band - the guitar on this track is fucking primal, total essence of bluesicality and the drum attack is mesmerising as for Don well he is the Don of all he commands which at this point was pretty much the magical universe.
