  • OK! I was born in Catania, but living in Parma! I am glad that you are proud to be Sicilian! The story of our origins is among the oldest of the Mediterranean sea!

  • I love being sicilian i have more pride in my sicilian heratage then any other part of my ancestry. my ancestors island, your island has great history more then probably any other place on earth. in the last 2-3000 years.

    mi piaca bella/beddu sicilia:)

sai palazza palitina e la Martorana in palermo?

im glad to have met a cousin (in a sence that i have met somone from my ancestors home land) grazie ciao mio amico

  • Yes! I know the Cappel Palatine and the Martorana in Palermo! They are beautiful monuments! But you were in Sicily? You know very well our land! Now you teach a word in Sicilian: "mustazzi" means mustache, and is a word of Greek origin, when the Greeks colonized Sicily! I greet you all, my friend away!

  • no i have never been to the great beddu sicilia. But i love itaian history. i hope to go one day. i want to see my ancestors cities.

so mustazzi is from greek and is in english mustache. grazzia

what does these names mean DeLucca and giglio?

what type of origin are they?

what does the double name mean? two capital letters?

i want to know everything and more about bella/beddu sicilia.

  • Giglio is the name of a flower, which indicates purity, because it is the flower that in Italy dedicated to Our Lady Maria. Instead the name De Lucca means a person who is in the town of Lucca, in Tuscany. But are you sure that is not hand De Luca, with one c? In this case, means "son of Luke", the name of an ancestor. In any case, in Italian, this is a noble name: all names that are in Italian and double that begin with "De" are people who have noble origin ! Are you a princess?

    Ciao bedda!

  • Well i have royal blood from compania. but thats kool i have noble ancestry from sicilia. it was 1 c my appologies. how about the name saitta we where told it meant stormy night but not sure.

im not sure if im a prince, or not lol . thanks for the information.

thanks for answering all my questions. grazzia.

what are the origins of the names? any of them greek, arab, latin, or norman?

  • Saitta to me sounds like Sagitta from Latin meaning arrow. (drop the g and you'll get that name.)

  • Sometimes when families came through Ellis Island, their names were "americanized" and sometimes families themselves changed the spelling alittle bit.

What can you tell me of these two names please,.. DeMartino and Lucarelli. One more please, Lanius. Thank you!

  • wow just amazing, im inspired

im currently chanted as well and i am amazed

at the quality of his voice.

would any1 have a link to some of the notes and lyrics of the song he is singing wouldn't mind practising it, its such a beautiful hymn

  • Why do you care if it is hard or not? Let your heart burn out of eager and pray

  • At 00:10 - 00:11 there is an icon I've never seen before,who does it depict?The archangels?

  • The 4-th tone aghia it's one of the most difficult byzantyne musical scale. So, only a master can sing something like that

  • Yes indeed. Agia is the most difficult to chant, it can throw you into many different tones if you don't know what your are doing, and sound so horrible if its not chanted they way it should.

  • 7'th tone varis is another hard one

  • for me, the 3rd and 5th, everything else comes naturally. for fourth i use Legeton. never tested aghia

  • @vagos2006 Diatonic grave (varys) is also pretty difficult to get right, imo.

  • J'adore le chant byzantine...

  • The Icons are so beautiful!

  • greetings from holy Meteora ! Ilias
