I love Martha. I understand that some people hate her, but what really gets to me is those that say she's weak. Martha was the toughest companion in the new series, how could there be any dispute to that? She will always be my personal favorite.
She is not my fav. but I still like her. Why don't they bring her back! She is like the only one that they can bring back. Vote up if u love Doctor Who! :)
Martha was pretty cool. I liked her, just as much as I liked Rose and Donna. I wasn;t suroprised when martha hada job with UNIT, though I'd expect sooner or alter she and mickey will probably be working at Torchwood next thing you know. regardless, it took a lot fo0r ehr to break away from the doctor, knwoing he'd never se her as his love. Hope she and mickey stay together always :)
Rose is still my favorite companion. Martha was alright, she had her moments, Donna was ehh, I liked her at the end, Amy is not the good, she's alright, but I like Rory better. Jack is my favorite as well.
This is probably my favourite theme of the lot - it's got that ethereal feel to it, full of slow wonder and awe, and YET - that undercurrent of unbearable sadness, unrequited longing is hard to miss. I think it just sums up Martha Jones beautifully.
Feel so sorry for Martha. She deserved better than being treated like second-best by the Doctor. She was the most kickass of all the companions, and possibly ended up sacrificing the most.
I loved Martha's time with the Doctor. In a sense, she was like all of us who love the Doctor, he doesn't even know we are alive! I loved the Family of Blood best of all her stories.
Allow me to start of by saying my name is Jack Rogers and Doctor who changed my life
It all started on a saturday night with nothing to do i turned on the tv and saw that a show called Doctor who was just about to start I found myself entangled the monsters, the companions, the doctor everything connected with the child within me.
Ever since then I stuck all the way from the Bad wolf of series 1 to the end of the universe of series 5 I am proud to say I stuck with Doctor who all the way.
@Jackoooist It was like that for me, except the first time I watched Doctor Who, the repeats starting with the very first episode of the 1960's, I was too young to get what it was about. But I was old enough to remember it when I found out that Doctor Who was coming back in 2005, 6 years ago. Now I've found myself watching it again, just as a small but important part of my life. I probably won't stop watching it until the last episode airs.
in my opinion, martha didnt have anything special about her, for example, river and amy is sexy, rory is funny, so is donna. rose is sweet and the docter, well lets just say he is all of these

this woman couldn't act for shit. what a shame, great piece of music, and there were some great stories with her in. Just a shame she couldn't deliver lines very well.
@elleaych2503 I agree. At first I couldnt even stand looking at Martha. After rewatching the series, I gained a new appreciation for her. And actually felt for her. Must have been pretty painful for her. However, all appreciation was lost for her when she warned Donna that if you stand to close to the Doctor you get burned. How cold and cruel. She knows how lonely and full of sadness he is, then she tried and warned people against him >: ( Brilliant music for her though. :)
I think it's appropriate for her to be more grounded in reality after the Doctor since her whole family went through hell because of her association with the Doctor. The least she could do is make sure people don't suffer because of him. In a way that would hurt him most of all.
@SmileChicky Martha had every moral right to warn Donna so that what happened to Martha's family didn't happen to Donna's. Too bad no one warned Martha about the Doctor. I still cringe when at the end of "The Runaway Bride" episode, Donna tells the Doctor to "fine someone", I shudder on Martha's behalf, poor Martha. Martha never needed the Doctor she already had a great life, unlike other companions, rather the Doctor needed her, yet he treated her badly. Martha was too good for the Doctor.
@Lucille7777 No, she wasn't too good for the Doctor. She wanted something from the Doctor he didn't want to give, how does that make her too good for him? :-/ Doctors bad ass :D
@SmileChicky And what did the Doctor want from Martha? Everything and he got it too, and instead of being nice and grateful, he was mean and manipulative towards her and that’s why Martha left him. The 10th Doctor had a death wish all along, no one could be so unlucky regarding companions, and he got his wish for the most part as he he was alone during the Tennant specials.
@Lucille7777 cold :| he was never manipulative, cold perhaps, but I think it was more of he felt like he was betraying his love/friendship for Rose with Martha. That's why he kept Martha at an arms length, not because he was a mean old man. He perhaps had a death wish, but only in a way where he felt he had lived too long, and he couldn't stand being hurt anymore. Can you blame him?
@SmileChicky Years ago, someone sent me a link to Martha’s Blog and it described the Doctor telling Martha about the Time War; how sympathetic Martha was; he said they were going to a “concert” but when they arrived the Family of Blood were waiting for them and you see them running back into the TARDIS at the beginning of Human Nature, he knew they’d be there, "Do you trust me Martha?" He didn’t have to use the Chameleon Arch, he wanted to; he manipulated Martha into that entire situation.
@sandj912 I do like Martha.. now anyways :P Pretty sure it was just resentment that she wasn't rose :P I really love Donna as well though. Her and Rose :D
Actually you're wrong this IS Martha's personal theme song.....there is something similar sounding and that is 'The Doctor Forever'. Each companion has their own theme, and this is def Martha's.
@1998Roxygirl Martha's run was marked by the return of the Master. Throughout season three you see those Vote Saxon posters everywhere, just like with Bad Wolf. Now she was not my favorite companion, but she did kind of save the world, on her own, while dodging Toclafane. So to say she didn't do anything of interest isn't quite fair.
Also, she's about a thousand times better than Mickey was.
@1998Roxygirl I liked Martha being just like a regular person. Thats what I like in the doctors companions when their just people he meets. Every companion dosn't need some super power
Martha was just quite boring. Rose was just...well brilliant, and Donna had a huge personality. She was smart, but I just didnt think she was funny enough for the doctor.
she was a brilliant character, she was the bravest and strongest companion but rose was brilliant and donna was hilarious. compared to them she was, as i said, boring!
I love Donna, she was the Doctor's Best Mate and the only person who he let hit him when he said/did something wrong. I love how the Doctor was around Rose, I loved her while she was on the show...then...she left, I don't like her very much now. I don't know why. Martha was just all around cool, she was hella smart, she got herself and the Doctor out of some tight spots, she also knew that she would never be with the Doctor how she wanted to be, so she left to keep from breaking her own hart.
But there is just one thing I have to correct. The Doctor didn't LET Donna hit him, she just did it, but he WAS okay with it if you want to put it that way. She was direct and wasn't afraid to show her feeling. That's one of the many reasons I loved her xD
Some people don't like her (I wonder her being the only companion who willingly left Doctor since the new series stared is a factor), but I like her. At least, she was smart and knew how to logically and calmly assess situation despite getting thrown into strange circumstances. (of course, I don't mean that others were idiots).
Martha is my least favorite of Ten's companions. She really didn't have much of a personality. Donna was a bit over the top, but I liked her a lot. Rose was definitely my favorite, though. No competition.
@Jagatia I have to disagree with you; Martha really was too much "Scooby-Dooish" for the series in my opinion. Rose had that incredible charm which I'm in love with and donna's got that nice character of her's.
Still, I have to say Martha has the best theme music.
love martha as a companion. i felt really bad that she was so in love with the doctor while he just wanted a friend. but you can't blame her for falling hard xD i'm just glad she was able to walk away and move on.
@1andrewman1 wtf? seriously doctor who is something that u can dream about and get hopes from all the magicly things i wish could happen happen in doctor who, sure i like twilight but there is NO comparing it to octor who ok got that?
I must say, I like Martha because she had the nerve to walk out on the doctor but I'm not sure about the huge crush she had on him I mean really she was fine as a companion but the doctor needed a friend!
i dont like how the Doctor treated Martha. i no he lost Rose his lover and all but Martha put her and her family in danger 4 the Docter and I look up 2 her 4 that.
i really think martha got the best reception, and the worse. evryone hated her cause of rose, but i think that she's still well like because of her smarts and bravery.
@WhiteSox2447 I really don't think that Rose got in the way for many people. I liked Rose and was heartbroken at the "end" of her story. Yet I was happy that the Doctor had Martha, she was a good person with admirable qualities...but she just wasn't the sort of person I would be friends with.
Rose was definately the best! She saved him and was so kind :) And funny! I loved Donna because...she's Donna :) I don't like Martha at all. I just can't stand the way she acted around the Doctor - it was so annoying! And then there was that one moment in Utopia when she goes "Good ol' Rose" I mean have some respect woman! She knows how upset the Doctor is about Rose yet she still acts like Rose is in her way or a bad person or something. Maybe thats just me... I like her theme though!
@xPrincessKx Ever had to be the Rebound Girl right after some guy's major relationship has ended? Clearly not... It sucks, let me tell you. I totally sympathize with Martha. So there, nyah. :P
Martha is cool, thouhg I kinda prefer rose and Donna. I am curious, anyone who's seen any of series five with matt as the doctor, is it any good? I haven't had the chance to watch any of series 5 yet
Donna is my favourite but Martha is a very close second. I didn't really like Rose because she kept leaving Mickey and it was like she didn't care about him. That is only my opinion though and I am not forcing it on others :)
the thing i hate bout doctor who is: they develop the characters so much that i always miss them QQ the doctors, companions and even occasionaly the enemies
Martha was alright. |I did feel bad for her in that she loved the Doctor, but the Doctor never even glanced at her, still hung up on Rose. The fact Martha was able to walk away, knowing that the Doctor would never love her shows to me anyways, she knew that it was the right thing to do despite how difficult it was
@InflatableKMH true, but the david tennat doctor loved rose and the first one , by the way are you a doctor who freak cause i am! lol i hate the one where the doctor and martha in the episode blink do you hate that one?
@crazyhorselover12 I thought the episode was alright, albeit strange, but trhen again, anything weird happens when you're traveling with the doctor. Yeah, ever since i had first watched it as a kid back when the doctor was tom baker, and when I saw the first episode of series 4 when the doctoer was on his 9th regeneration
@InflatableKMH >OMG you make such a good point!!! :P I still missed Martha when she left, but she did return then. And the thing that broke my heart and made burts into tears is that th Docotr never told Rose that he LOVES HER!!!! So sad. Everytime someon mentions the ''Doctor'' I remember that scene and i start crying and than no one know what I am thinking of. But know one thing. I always think of The Doctor and his most gorgeous EYES AND HIS FUNNY SMILE!!!! :D
@AnnyRed96 Sorry but the Doctor never loved Rose, in series 2 he spent most of the time devising ways to get rid of her, then he made sure she was taken to a parallel universe in series 2, then finally he returned her there himself in series 4. RTD had great fun with it, even Stephen Moffat laughed about it. However, this is no reflection on the actress Billie Piper, only on the Rose character she played. The Doctor pined for Rose in series 3 to keep Martha at arm's length he's not a nice man.
Sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh at your comment.
If he isn't a nice man, then what's the POINT of the show? I mean come on, he saved the world, how many times?? >.<
And how can you call yourself a fan if you don't even pay attention to the episodes? Watch Doomsday again and watch the Doctor's reaction to losing Rose. THEN come back and try to say that rubbish again. Ugh. It gets under my skin when people complain about a character. Especially one of the main casts D:
@mylittlesweetiegirl TV characters are not above criticism and even David Tennant remarked more than once that he was personally uncomfortable about how the Doctor treated Martha and he doesn’t consider the 10th Doctor a “good person” at least not all the time.
@Lucille7777 You're a retard. The half-timelord Doctor he left in Rose's new universe had all of his memories and feelings, and he loved her. Hell, Doc was going to tell her himself the first time. Pick up on clues better next time. BUT, it's perfectly acceptable, no one's expecting you to be clever all the time. You're only human, after all.
@Kayriel Damn the truth hurts doesn't it? I can't even be mad at you for calling me names as I see it really pains you to know that the Doctor didn't love Rose either, not the way she wanted him to.
The song is sad as Martha's story with the Doctor is sad. She gets separated from her family for a year, and she fell in love with the Doctor but all he saw was Rose in her. She went on and became part of the military. A doctor, was transformed into a soldier because she had a false love....This is her theme.
LOVED Martha, favourite companion and then Donna was so hilarious (L) And also, I loved that she got to go on her own terms, not separated like Rose and Donna, Donnas was hirrible id be so heartbroken if i knew i would forget about the doctor cuz well, hes a babe :)
I'm afraid I couldn't stand Martha - she seemed so bland or something. Rose was wonderful, Donna... er, certainly had character, and Amy Pond, well, wow.
@Aldris247 i agree, amy is certainly the best character, but i think martha is amazing too. Martha had the strength and courage to go around the world and tell everyone about the doctor. and she didnt have to be the Bad Wold or the DoctorDonna to do it!
@liamissooooocool yes however Rose had the power of the TARDIS on her side, Donna had the power of the Doctor on her side.
Martha had no power. She didn't need any to save the universe. With not an inch of extra-terrestrial power in her hands, you can't expect her to save all of creation can you?!
@Ockzopie I don't know what the hell yall are talking about, but martha was definitely the best companion. The only one that actually seemed able to keep up with the doctor mentally.
I thought Martha was a stronger companion than Rose. Yes, Rose decimated a Dalek fleet, but she was the Bad Wolf at the time, so it didn't really take alot of effort on her part. Martha walked around the Earth to tell everyone left about the Doctor, dodging the master and his army the whole way.
@saberman610 I guess it goes to show that the Doctor is better with his companions. It's not always the Doctor that saves the universe, but his friends too! :)
Martha was pretty cool. I did feel bad for her that she loved the doctor but yet the love wasn;t returned since he was still thinkingof Rose. I have to admit I was impressed that she was able to walk away from the Doctor.
@InflatableKMH I know this is old, but I wanna reply anyways.
I find it poetic and pretty cool that she found her way to mickey. Hell, you think about it, what Martha was going through with The Doctor is exactly the same Mickey went through with rose.
@TSEpictures this is EXACTLY why I'm okay with martha/mickey. I also have a crack theory just for lolz that they started going out to make the doctor and rose jealous which never went anywhere be
martha jones was fantastic...simply fantastic

Donna was okay; Martha had the personality. Rose had the whole package.

Aeryn22 1 year ago 81
@Aeryn22
I totally agree with everything you said there.
But there is just one thing I have to correct. The Doctor didn't LET Donna hit him, she just did it, but he WAS okay with it if you want to put it that way. She was direct and wasn't afraid to show her feeling. That's one of the many reasons I loved her xD
mylittlesweetiegirl 5 months ago
Some people don't like her (I wonder her being the only companion who willingly left Doctor since the new series stared is a factor), but I like her. At least, she was smart and knew how to logically and calmly assess situation despite getting thrown into strange circumstances. (of course, I don't mean that others were idiots).

Martha is my least favorite of Ten's companions. She really didn't have much of a personality. Donna was a bit over the top, but I liked her a lot. Rose was definitely my favorite, though. No competition.

I understand rose, I understand Martha, BUT WHY THE F*CK DONNA?
Ok, she was alright, but she was abit dumb?
Jagatia 1 year ago
@Jagatia Because Donna WAS special she WAS Amazing and the doctor could see that ,, He took her on so that Donna and every one else could see that
Jayde15arena 1 year ago
@Jagatia I have to disagree with you; Martha really was too much "Scooby-Dooish" for the series in my opinion. Rose had that incredible charm which I'm in love with and donna's got that nice character of her's.
Still, I have to say Martha has the best theme music.

love martha as a companion. i felt really bad that she was so in love with the doctor while he just wanted a friend. but you can't blame her for falling hard xD i'm just glad she was able to walk away and move on.

I must say, I like Martha because she had the nerve to walk out on the doctor but I'm not sure about the huge crush she had on him I mean really she was fine as a companion but the doctor needed a friend!
TheChoirgirl10 1 year ago 6
@TheChoirgirl10 I think all the doctor needed was a hug....
Donna was the only one who didn't have a painfully obvious crush on the doctor if you think about it. Hell even Jack can't say the same haha.

WhiteSox2447 1 year ago
@WhiteSox2447 I really don't think that Rose got in the way for many people. I liked Rose and was heartbroken at the "end" of her story. Yet I was happy that the Doctor had Martha, she was a good person with admirable qualities...but she just wasn't the sort of person I would be friends with.
whimsical2tree 1 year ago
Rose was definately the best! She saved him and was so kind :) And funny! I loved Donna because...she's Donna :) I don't like Martha at all. I just can't stand the way she acted around the Doctor - it was so annoying! And then there was that one moment in Utopia when she goes "Good ol' Rose" I mean have some respect woman! She knows how upset the Doctor is about Rose yet she still acts like Rose is in her way or a bad person or something. Maybe thats just me... I like her theme though!

@InflatableKMH >OMG you make such a good point!!! :P I still missed Martha when she left, but she did return then. And the thing that broke my heart and made burts into tears is that th Docotr never told Rose that he LOVES HER!!!! So sad. Everytime someon mentions the ''Doctor'' I remember that scene and i start crying and than no one know what I am thinking of. But know one thing. I always think of The Doctor and his most gorgeous EYES AND HIS FUNNY SMILE!!!! :D
AnnyRed96 1 year ago 2
@AnnyRed96 Sorry but the Doctor never loved Rose, in series 2 he spent most of the time devising ways to get rid of her, then he made sure she was taken to a parallel universe in series 2, then finally he returned her there himself in series 4. RTD had great fun with it, even Stephen Moffat laughed about it. However, this is no reflection on the actress Billie Piper, only on the Rose character she played. The Doctor pined for Rose in series 3 to keep Martha at arm's length he's not a nice man.
Lucille7777 6 months ago
@Lucille7777
Especially one of the main casts D:
mylittlesweetiegirl 5 months ago 3
@mylittlesweetiegirl TV characters are not above criticism and even David Tennant remarked more than once that he was personally uncomfortable about how the Doctor treated Martha and he doesn’t consider the 10th Doctor a “good person” at least not all the time.
Lucille7777 4 months ago
@Lucille7777
"not above criticism?" What's that supposed to mean?? I hope not what I think it is >.<
And I don't remember that AT ALL.
And to be quite honest, I wasn't even talking about Martha, I was replying your comment about Rose.
Frankly, I felt bad for Martha when she loved him because I know how it feels like; but I never saw the Doctor as a bad person.
mylittlesweetiegirl 4 months ago
@Lucille7777 You're a retard. The half-timelord Doctor he left in Rose's new universe had all of his memories and feelings, and he loved her. Hell, Doc was going to tell her himself the first time. Pick up on clues better next time. BUT, it's perfectly acceptable, no one's expecting you to be clever all the time. You're only human, after all.
Kayriel 4 months ago
@Kayriel Damn the truth hurts doesn't it? I can't even be mad at you for calling me names as I see it really pains you to know that the Doctor didn't love Rose either, not the way she wanted him to.
Lucille7777 4 months ago
Martha is my favorite!
Rathause 1 year ago
The song is sad as Martha's story with the Doctor is sad. She gets separated from her family for a year, and she fell in love with the Doctor but all he saw was Rose in her. She went on and became part of the military. A doctor, was transformed into a soldier because she had a false love....This is her theme.

I'm afraid I couldn't stand Martha - she seemed so bland or something. Rose was wonderful, Donna... er, certainly had character, and Amy Pond, well, wow.
Aldris247 1 year ago
@Aldris247 i agree, amy is certainly the best character, but i think martha is amazing too. Martha had the strength and courage to go around the world and tell everyone about the doctor. and she didnt have to be the Bad Wold or the DoctorDonna to do it!
Ockzopie 1 year ago 2
@Ockzopie Rose saved the universe, Martha saved the universe but Donna saved every universe and all of creation! That's got to be worth much more!
liamissooooocool 1 year ago
@liamissooooocool yes however Rose had the power of the TARDIS on her side, Donna had the power of the Doctor on her side.
Martha had no power. She didn't need any to save the universe. With not an inch of extra-terrestrial power in her hands, you can't expect her to save all of creation can you?!
Ockzopie 1 year ago 3
@Ockzopie I don't know what the hell yall are talking about, but martha was definitely the best companion. The only one that actually seemed able to keep up with the doctor mentally.

I really like Martha, but the way her hair's up always gets on my nerves for some reason.
thevampirefrog06 1 year ago 4
I thought Martha was a stronger companion than Rose. Yes, Rose decimated a Dalek fleet, but she was the Bad Wolf at the time, so it didn't really take alot of effort on her part. Martha walked around the Earth to tell everyone left about the Doctor, dodging the master and his army the whole way.
saberman610 1 year ago 7

TSEpictures 1 year ago 44
@TSEpictures this is EXACTLY why I'm okay with martha/mickey. I also have a crack theory just for lolz that they started going out to make the doctor and rose jealous which never went anywhere be
