@thallium200 - Definitely not the gun. I loaded the ammo with a higher OAL (with crappy crimping to boot) than it could handle. Go for the Glock 35. Not only can you shoot it for Limited, but you can also use it for Limited-10 and Production. It's a fantastic all around gun! :)
@gamingoddess Thanx for the quick response. I figured it was an ammo issue because I have heard nothing but good things about the Glock 35 series. You rock. Keep up the good shooting.
@thallium200 - No problem. Glock 34 is also a great 9mm competition pistol too (that's what I'm shooting A LOT nowadays for production/IDPA). By the way, I'm blaming you for bringing me back to this video. I haven't seen it in 2 years and I am totally cringing right now. God how the hell did I not cry after shooting that match? LOL
I really like this gun. Would you recommend the Glock 35 as a service pistol or should I just get the Glock 22? I like how it has the higher end trigger and is more tactical looking, but as a side carry service pistol, I'm not sure which outta the two I should get.
@House6409 - For a carry side arm I would say get the G22. G35 was specifically designed for competition shooting. You could also take a look at the G19 or G17 if you want to get 9mm caliber. Remember that with 40 S&W there's quite a bit of recoil, especially with self defense rounds. Nice thing is that it will stop that opponent no matter how drunk and high they are :) If you want a competition gun though, G35 is the way to go!
Enjoy your videos very much. With respect to the OAL of your reloads being too long, there is an inexpensive ($12-$18) cartridge gage into which you will drop each reloaded round and instantly know if the round will chamber. Lots of folks use either the Lee or L.E. Wilson brands both of which are available from MidwayUSA. HTH
Hopefully that's the last time where you'll see so many malfunctions. First off, the gun itself had to be taken apart and put together halfway through the match and then I found that a lot of my ammo had OAL too long. When that happens, the ammo gets stuck in the bottom of the mag (thus frustration). I learned my lesson, that's for sure! :)
@cheesemanmichael my buddy has a glock 35 and he's had about 10 failure to feeds with his first 100 rounds.. i've had a glock 23 and never once had that happen in over 5000+ shots dunno if it's the 35 or what...
Holy smokes! I get grief about the smoke my ammo makes but it's not half as much as yours makes. WOW! In my Glock LTD gun, I'm running 180gr cast bullets and AA#2. What bullet and powder are you using? I thoroughly enjoy your videos and am always looking forward to new ones.
I'm using Precision Moly 185grn bullets. I ran out of them though so I won't be using them anymore...I have about 1000 JHP 180 grn Winchesters that I gotta make a good load of...got them cause powder valley didn't have another bullet. Haven't loaded 40 S&W forever but I'm pretty much out of my old loads...weren't great anyways. Will be setting up a good 40 S&W load soon for nationals...debating on shooting limited-10 or limited decisions decisions! I like my g22 now!
I bet you had the duck hunt game with the gun and all, it was a "flash" gun, I really dont know how the heck it worked, but it did back then, and it was no Wii,
Great shooting, nice, I have a G35 too as well with about 200 rounds, I call it "El Macaco".
What I need to do to it to get an edge if I ever try it in a match? I dont think we have USPSA in PR but theres the PRPSA and IPSA around, youre very welcome to come to the island.
You don't need to do much to get an edge. First off, I am not sure what the mag/gun laws in PR, but what I would do is increase the mag capacity (this is if you are shooting standard). Install a mag well to make reloads faster. Change the glock sights, because the stocks are horrendous. Get someone to improve the trigger pull...there are also drop-in kits that you can purchase that do a great job too. Also, put some grip tape on the handle. These are all do-it-yourself things...very easy!
Gotcha, mag capacity is no issue, Ive read The Glock in Competition and they suggest Seattle Slug, JP, Novak or Lighting Strike and other sites recommend THE Accessories, Dawson, etc, also having brass aluminum and polymers materials, What do you have?
I have a Vanek trigger drop-in kit. If you prefer to keep it around 3 pounds, I would recommend getting the classic kit. It makes the trigger much crisper. I have a Dawson fiber optic front with a Dawson adjustable rear for sights. I would recommend getting TruGrip for the grips, it stays on in hot and cold weather.
I dont know about the trigger, kinda like it as is 3.5 pounder, I have rought hands. About the grip, PR is pretty humid, skate tape or rubber? I have short thumbs, any suggestion on mag releases? Sights, front? so another white dot will do... Anyway thanks for the info
As for the mag release, I have VERY small hands and short thumbs so I feel your pain. I would recommend you simply try practicing with the Glock extended mag release. I'm fine using it in Production class. Currently have the LWD mag release that they install...the best one...but it does permanently modify your gun. JP Enterprises does have a mag release for a glock, which does make it much easier to release the mag...but it's so big and far out that you might accidentally release the mag.
Oops, forgot about that, I recommend the dawson precision heavy ice magwell. It's heavy, fits like a glove, and easy to install and uninstall. JP Enterprises also has a magwell that is also legal for IDPA, however I've found that it hangs my magazines when I try to drop them. Just get the DP ICE, you won't be disappointed.
Had to google that one...Mike Tyson! Classic! Kind of sad that those days of actually challenging games (where you might actually die...gasp) is gone.
All the ammo is now reloaded ammunition since well...it's a lot cheaper. As for the jams, at first there was something wrong with the trigger mechanism and it was fixed by one of my squadmates at the safe area. By the 10th stage I ran out of match ammo so I had to use my box of local/practice major ammo but those were loaded too long so it jammed in my magazine...nothing wrong with the glock then, it was just me and my ill-preparedness
I love it, especially for competition because you can shoot it for about every division in IDPA/USPSA matches. Now if I would stop messing with it, it might actually start running. :)
Yes - you are giving up too many points not having the gun run 100% - I submit your scores would be even better than they are now if you get it running 100% - I want to see you shooting the open Glock!
man, luv the first person view, Luv the courses you shoot at. Is it the club? CLass Level? Looks like a whole lot of fun to be had over where your at. Great vid again.

Whats with all the failures to feed and go into battery? Reloaded ammo or gun issues? Im looking at a Glock 35 for competition.

I think there is something wrong with ammo.
Glock usually don't jam up.
I think she is using reload ammo. I can tell it by tons of smoke.
Try some better ammo.
