  • Finally someone said it out loud! That's why I love your videos. Tricks are soo obvious and easy and reeeaaaly helpful! And I love this winking part :D

  • I have always been too scared to use try this but I just might. I am naturally very pale but somehow if I use blusher or bronzer it always seems to vanish after about half an hour after application, even if I apply a generous amount.

  • I've never thought about getting a matte brown lipstick to contour. Ah! Great Idea!

  • I feel vindicated! I've been doing this forever. What I really like is that, by using lipstick on both cheeks and lips, I'm all matched up. I don't go for matchy-matchy as a rule, esp. when it comes to eyes with the rest of my face. But to match lips and cheeks is fine, in my book. I'm only playing up the look of blood as seen through skin, which would, naturally, be the same on both lips and cheeks; just a different intensity. Love your channel!

  • is a versatile option! I have many lipsticks then.... I have many choices of color for my cheeks!!

    thanks Wayne xo

  • Woooomen of color... (that face :P) get a big O! :D

  • Based on this idea, can I then use a dark brown lipstick as contour?

  • @bookerdog1234 I am wondering the same thing.

  • Also the Maybelline Baby Lips conditions the skin on your cheeks and fights drying and chapping from the cold & wind. In the winter I used to get little lines at the top of my cheek (not from age but from dryness) but now that doesn't happen when I use a lipstick or balm as cream blush

  • Thanks! This really helped me. I used to model a few years ago but now I'm an attorney & work in a dry office environment. Powder blush seemed to cause dry skin, a cakey look & big pores. Using lipstick or balm gives a great healthy look! I get the most compliments when I use Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry. It's sheer, healthy, glossy red w/o shimmer

  • I am really loving your videos, I was wondering if you could do one on the top 5 ways to apply blush and the best blushes ?

  • This has worked for me. Have mixed a tube lipstick in a small screw top pot with light liquid foundation and am impressed with the staying power compared to powder blush.

The only thing I would add is that you make sure the lipstick is well crushed and creamed into the foundation to avoid zebra stripes that have to be blended out.

    Otherwise.....wey hey!

  • I was wondering, could you please show us how to do it? Would it work right on faces with big opened pores? And should it be put on top of the foundation? Wouldn´t that make a bit of a mess by moving all the foundation around while blending in the lipstick as a blush?

Thank you for taking the time to share your art!! You are indeed amazing with makeup!

  • I use to watch my Grandmother do this, and I thought she was crazy with putting lipstick on her cheeks. She would take out her "rouge" (as Grandmother would say) and apply it to her barely there lips then on to her very pale cheeks and begin blending with her fingers.....and happily she went out the door with her apple red lips and cheeks. Hey, she was onto something..... :)

  • ok you said we can use lipstick for blush but you didn't exactly show how?...........

  • YOU ARE INCREDIBLY AWESOME. If I said this already, well, glad im saying it again..

  • What about using eyeshadow for your lips? Do u recommend that?

  • How to apply though Goss!?

  • Love it!!!

  • ti amo...

  • You are so handsome! I love your strikes for women of color as well, it seems like you have such a passion for darker skin LOL! I’m a brown eyed blondie white girl but I enjoy your mentioning other types of skin and I find it... refreshing? Olive skin, dark skin, ethnicity is very beautiful I agree. :)

  • my grandma uses lipstick as a cream blush, and it really gives her beautiful colour on the cheeks. apparently old makeup tips work wonderful today too :) yay! :)

  • I'm kind of in love with you :S.

Haha just kidding, but I love your videos! So informative and to-the-point, no rambling, and you have a wonderful personality. Great accent, too! :D

  • Love this video. I appreciate how practical your approach to makeup is.

  • 2:44 lol

  • i love you! im going to save SO much monies now!

  • Thanks for the advise

  • oh my, that's what I do too! I use lipstick!

  • Why do people constantly ask how to apply it? Isn't it easy? Just put it on the apples of the cheeks and blend. o_O

  • @chaton20 look at the vid. that tells you; DO NOT APPLY BLUSHER ON THE APPLE OF YOUR CHEEKS! lol

  • @fatimamekki96 he means not *only* on the apples of the cheeks. like many other YouTube "gurus" do. I always thought it looked weird. :) It has to be blended towards the ears. I love Wayne Goss! He is the only YouTube guru I trust this much.

  • @chaton20 me to hahaha

  • Hey, Im like, if it's an oldie, that means it works! Usually, you get what I mean.

  • you are my guru! I love you and all you do... I

  • I have used lipstick as an eyeshadow base it works well but moves more especially on oily lids. But I think maybe with a primer and blended a little more it looks nice. :)

  • can u show an example of the appllication

  • My mum was a cosmetologist in the 60s I grew up watching her put on solftsilver rose by Revlon on her cheeks and lips as u mention.... thanks for bringing back memories...

  • You didn't show us how to apply

  • You didn't show us how to apply

  • i have been doing that since was a teen

  • Lovely, but you didn't actually tell us 'how to'.

  • Awww the expression that u gave while u said 'women of color' is to die for <3

  • He's lovely....great video, very helpful. Thank you :o)

  • Hi.My goodness this is really HI-DEF video.Your videos are crystal clear.Perfection thats how I describe the quality of your videos.

  • will putting on lipstick as blusher cause acne breakout on the skin?

  • @nutmag76 only if you have acne prone skin!

  • gosh wayne thanks so much for this tip! i was about to go out to buy cream blushes. i love the effect the lipsticks give!! awesome and so natural!! thank you!!!!!

  • Goss, may I be indiscrete? Could you be married to a woman of colour? :D I am just wondering because your eyes shine when you recommend products for women of this complexion!!

  • @dinavienna Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiii!!! I saw the expressionm was kind of... glorious...

  • @AnaVeronaable lol i see i wasnt the only one to notice or get that impression at least :D

  • @dinavienna "woman of color" ?? people still use this term?!

  • @MelindaMinaJ its never been used where I live - there they distinguish between "domestics" and "foreigners". I hear it used by English native speakers all the time though especially on US tv (Tyra Banks show etc). it seemed to me it was favored to strict categorizations such as "black women". so yeah as a non native speaker I come across it all the time.

  • @dinavienna define foreigner

  • @MelindaMinaJ officially: someone who has another passport than the one of the country of residence; "unofficially": everybody who does not look "native" (which in Europe is quite different than in the US, a country that has always experienced massive and principally welcome immigration). to put it bluntly: I have lived in Europe all my life, and whether in Austria or France ppl will always treat me as a foreigner/an immigrant when in fact I'm not. that s a "foreigner" here

  • hahahahan my mother still does that.......

  • I remember my Mom doing this for ever... Looked always so pretty!

  • Tumbs up if you think he should do a vidio showing us how to use old fashiond trix !!

  • Thanks Goss, I love your channel so much! I like that you speak to people of all ages and all colors as well. I am definitely going to be putting some lipstick on my cheeks tomorrow =)

  • I remember my grandmother doing this, probably from having not much money, however it always looked great. Thanks for sharing. <3

  • I was wondering if anyone could point me to anywhere @gossmakeupartist made a video (if he did) about skin tones? I have, I guess, olive kind of skin. A lot of yellow undertones, but still tannish on the top. Just like to know his tips =)

  • It just occurred to me that I have a lipstick palate that I never use because I prefer using a tube of lipstick on my lips that I could totally use on my cheek! Thank you for bringing that idea to my attention.

  • Awesome. We used to laugh at my mom for doing this but she was definitely onto something.

  • I've heard of doing this a lot, but I've never been brave enough to do it. I bought my first blusher last month, but it's very subtle compared to a lot of the ones people use. I have tons of pink, shimmery lipsticks that would be great for blush. :) May experiment soon...

  • This is a great tip! I have a bunch of lipsticks I don't really use because I don't think lipstick suits me and I tend to stick to lip tints or gloss so this is a fabulous way to get use out of lipsticks you don't use very often.

  • Love you... er... your tip. I used lipstick as blush and was told its a make up sin! Because most people arent experts we do as we are told. Thanks for telling me another opinion!

  • im actually worried that this method would cause me to break out. my face tends to be very sensitive to some brands of makeup and creams. is the formula of a lipstick much different from that of a cream blush?

  • Ive always used lipstick as cream blush instead of buying high end brands, thats just a waste of money (especialy in the recetion)and the colors show up vibrant on my caramel skin tone its realy nice to know im not the only one who does that.

  • you're talking like an aussie actually

  • Wow never fot bout dat before !! Great tip

  • Naw, dammit, I threw away a shade of froze rose pinkish color that looked bad on my lips but would have made a great blusher >_<

But that tip is AMAZING. I always want my lips and cheek color to go well together and this is the perfect solution. Thank you SO MUCH ^^b

  • The only problem w/ using lipstick for blush is that it can make some skin break out.

  • WOW, you look really good in here, your skin doesn't look red :D

  • ur awesome

  • When I was young and did rhythmic gymnastics, my mom would use her lipstick and put it on my cheeks and rub it in :) I learned that technique from her ever since i was 5.

  • I'm going to be going through all of my lipsticks. You are brillant!!!! And so fun to watch. I love that you help people who want to look "better" not different. You have great tips Ole wise one ;)

  • Wow nice tip. I will be trying it out but please a video on how to do this would be nice. Thank you..new subbie from Nigeria

  • Love using lipstick as a blush! :-)

  • I am a women of colour and I have always used lipsyick as my blusher. Guys it works wonders! :)

  • Dark brown lipsticks for contouring....brilliant idea...why didnt I think of that????

  • i wish i could have you do my makeup :))

  • you look gorgeous!

  • This was SO helpful! I'm darker skinned and it is SO hard finding good blushes. I've forked out cash on a bunch of mac ones, and NARS and it gets so expensive. Just tried this and it looks AMAZING! Best part is I have a lipstick buying addiction (LOVE bright shades) and I always feel guilty buying so many, but now I can put them to use. You're the BEST! xx

  • so can i use cream blush on my lips?

  • @blurrrqueeny hi, not a good idea as it may dry your lips out

  • @happyduckbabe okay, thanks (:

  • My mother use to do this all the time, and thought she was just cheap. Oh the arrogance of youth. And thanks you for including women of colour to this. That really made me take notice and take you seriously as an artist.

  • agreed!!! why waste your money on cream blush when you can get all sorts of lipstick colors!? :)

  • Blush scares the hell out of me. I'm so afraid I will look like a clown. Especially with cream blush.

  • could you do a video on how to wink?

  • @rassama57 .......rofl

  • oh my freaking GOD....i love how he winks in the end of every single video ...sexyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • oh my GOD.. i love how you wink in the last of each video ..SEXY <3

  • hmmm now I feel bad for throwing away a lipstick that looked bad on my lips, because I'm pretty sure I would have loved it as a blush color

  • Omg, thank you! I bought the prettiest light peony pink lipstick but somehow it doesn't work well on my lips. I think I'll try to use it on my cheeks, pink looks pretty on my cheeks!

  • Could you make a video on how you would apply lipstick to your cheeks please

  • You look extra amazing in this video Wayne :D

  • But you didn't say how to do it. :(

  • Why are you amazing? :)

  • YOU ARE FABULOUS TO ME. I loved you giving some older tips for makeup. Also some of us are not looking to keep buying more makeup. I watch some people, goodness when is it you have enough.

  • Subscribing to you is the best thing i've ever done on youtube.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaahhh i apply lipstick as a cream blush! i love the fact that my methods and preferences are so similar to yours because youre amazing!

  • !! Totally going to try it. I've been wanting a cream blush but the brands that carry colors for my skin tone are very expensive and Right now I can't spend so much money on a blusher. This is a great idea thanks! Im thinking of using those long wearing lipsticks see if they last on my cheeks!

  • could you demonstrate this please thanx

  • @scratchinsurfaces Agreed, you give these tips but never show HOW to do them or what it looks like.

  • I'm subbing because of this- "The point is - use what you have. You don't have to BUY BUY BUY everything that is new. Sometimes its the old classics that work and continue to work - just like that damp sponge."

  • You are my new youtube favourite!!

  • You are adorable. I wanna see you do an application.

  • i would really like to see a tutorial how to use lipstick as a cream blush.

or maybe i try i just tomorrow morning before going to work ^^

  • THANS!!! COULD YOU PLEASE DO A TUTORIAL

  • it's a brilliant solution for the Smashbox 24 lip palette that I own and never use because I don't want to cart it around with me in my purse to reapply! And I'm "of a certain age" where creme blush is a better solution! Thank you Wayne, I've learned so much from you and have never properly thanked you!

  • Thank you!!!

  • i use my plum lipstick as a blush together with the lipstick on my lips.. looks so pretty!

  • <3 you!

  • Thank you!!!!!!! Now I have a bunch of lipsticks that won't go to waste!!!

  • Glad you brought this up cause people thought I was crazy for doing the same thing LOL I watched my older sisters and aunts do that and I just did it too it works fabulous also I use it for eye shadows to some times an d apply powder on top of it what do u think of that can u do a vid on that topic ty

  • Do u think I could use a lipstick as an eyeshadow base ?????

  • As a darker woman of color...I ABSOLUTELY adore you!!! Much love from NYC ;)

  • I actually did this the other day and it looked beautiful! I do it all the time now. :D

  • Thank you Wayne!! I have 2 Mac lipsticks that I bought on my "I really want a red lipstick" binges, but of course I never wear them as they make me look like a Geisha/doll :T (Dubonnet and Diva). They sit in my kit, doing nothing, but now...YAY! cream blush!

  • I have used MAC's slimshine in Mousse to contour for as long as I can remember. It really does blend in so perfectly and its really looks amazing!

  • youre so dreamy!!! i lvoe male makeup artists

  • i lovvvee using lipstick as a cream blush i use this really pretty light pink one that came in a palette and it makes it look so dewy and pretty.

  • Hi. Like some others, even i would like to see the application video. I have wheatish complexion and getting blushes that show on me is difficult and the available brands are very expensive like MAC. I own few lip shades by Revlon and Maybelline, which are quite pigmented. They are sold as high end products here however atleast i can afford them now. So i am super excited after seeing this video. Maybe i might be able to use them as blushes effectively. So PLEASE! thanks. God bless.

  • I love that you actually put emotion into what your talking about. A person can tell you actually love what you do, unlike other gurus who just stare at a camera and just blankly talk about a product. It also helps that your an actual MAKEUP ARTIST who KNOWS what they're talking about. Love you, thanks for everything you do!

  • @ccrystalcarmenn Absolutely true. Love you, Wayne.

  • @ccrystalcarmenn accidental vote down! :O :'(

  • I would love to see a video showing how you actually apply the lipstick as a cream blush. thank you :)

  • @GotJesusCathy Agreed on that for sure.

  • just a *warning* on this tip but it can happen with anything else you try on your face/skin without testing. Last time I used a lipstick as a blush, I got burning spots of eczema around my cheeks. Dear lord that was horrifying... looked like a freaky clown for over a month until they healed. Scarred a bit too...so those with sensitive skin.. carefullll

  • Hi i love cream blush, but i always find that it doesnt last as long as a powder on my skin, i like the sheeny look of a cream so powdering over the top pretty much destroys the glowy sheen...any tips?.... love your vids by the way :0)

  • i never knew u were married =D

  • you're amazing!!

  • You have taught me a LOT these past several months. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!

  • YES! finally someone talks about using lipstick as a cream blusher! I do it all the time and it works wonders!

  • you are such an expert-i believe you..:)

  • Where did you get the 12 well palette (shown after the Inglot one)? I need some of these! Thanks a lot!

  • I was going to ask if it clogs ur pores too, my skin isnt acne prone but it is super super oily. thank you :)

  • Can you use the mac paint pots as blusher, or would it be rubbish?

  • someone else did a vid and put powder on then cream blush with a brush. it looked really good but seemed to break all the rules. my mum used to say 'used your lipstick on your cheeks and it will always match up perfectly'. sorry mum for ignoring you! thanks for vid and any advise on cream over powder?

  • I recommend this video to everyone I have been using my lippies as blush for a week now and LOVE this idea!

  • Wow ! Go figure...something I've been doing all along, myself. Who knew ?

  • Thank you for giving us advice to save us some money. Truly appreciate it

  • i love you :)

  • You're hot...just sayin' :)

  • My 85-year-old mother has done this always. I actually think powder blush didn't come out until in the 60's about the same time that mascara in a tube came out. Before that you could buy rouge in a pot and buy cake mascara that you had to wet to apply. We've come a long way Baby.

  • Question: What is the proper way to apply blush?

    Love your vids btw :)

  • Good reminder. I have some dark lipsticks I don`t like using anymore, I will use as blush and contour now.

  • OK, I have to admit that I never thought of this tip - it would hav never ever enter my consciousness and yet it make perfect sense. And now all of those melted lipsticks, I forget about I will now use a cream blushes and I will save myself a whole bunch of cash.

Thanks again and I love this tip. Blessings.

  • Sometimes we need to be reminded of the simpler way...works best at times! Thanks!

  • I love MUA makeup products super cheap and super pigmented esp there eyeshadows and they feel really nice.

i have few high end branded eyeshadows and i dont find there products to be as pigmented as MUA.

  • please show us how you do it! (put it on your finger and then pat it on the skin of oaint strokes with the lippie on your cheek?!

  • Love this!! Have done this for years, in fact I have never bought a blush. Yay for simplifying!!

  • awesome video! :)

  • I always say "Nicks" instead of spelling out N-Y-X. I wonder which way is "right"? LOL

  • @jadehorse77 "Nicks" is right. The brand is named after a goddess named NYX ;)

  • @jadehorse77 the makeup brand is called NYX but it is pronounced "nicks" if you are looking for their products you have too type NYX makeup :)

  • @Trueghostgirl I was only talking about the pronunciation. :) If you watch the video, he says N-Y-X. I've been using NYX products for about a year now. They're really great, and inexpensive.

  • ahhhhh! I have so wanted to do this with so many of my lippies! :D thankyou W x

  • A long time ago we were at a spa and there was a MUA asking me what kind of blush i used. I told him that most of the time i would use a lipstick the MUA started laughing so loud shaking his head like he was thinking ,,this poor girl obviously does not know anything about makeup,, He said we should not repeat what our grandmothers used to do( my granny also used lipstick)I wish i could show him this video now LOL!!!

  • Hi! Do I need use powder after apply creme blushes?

  • I can't get over how beautiful you are :) xx

  • Oh, Yay! I'm glad you posted this. I bought some Revlon Photo Finish foundation, today and a lip gloss. I 'm 59 and loved the look of the Revlon foundation and impulsively swiped some of the lip gloss on my checks and loved it. It gave me a translucent color that I think looked youthful.

    ~elaine~

  • Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! I have used lipstick off-and-on for several years! As I have aged it pays off! I agree with you: just because it isn't the latest, greatest doesn't mean a thing. It is the result that counts! Love Ya!

  • My mom used to use lipstick as blush when I was a kid. I thought she was just being CHEAP. Now I'm going to have to call her and apologize. :-)
