Tsiskaridze has a slim body, wherea Vasiliev has a slender one. Depending on the role one or the other may be preferable. Just compare the performances of both in the same variations.

I do not understand why people like this guy. I watched him twice live (once at NY city center and again at OC Performing Arts center) and I thought he was awful. When compared the the passion and artistry of somebody life Fernando Bujones or even the boy wonder Leonid Sarafanov, Mr. Tiskaridze does not even stand close.
there are many types of great male dancers and certainly Ivan Vasiliev is an extraordinary talent. However he, in my opinion, does not possess the artistry of Mr. Tsiskaridze - the beauty of his line combined with the emotion and passion in his dancing make him stand out. I am of the opinion that it is not how much but how something is done that makes the difference in artistry.
not my cup of tea... the crowd really loves him even tho he didnt do anything spectacular... sure it was good... but the crowd goes banans when he does one simple grand jeté...
"Simple grand jeté"? Well, technically, it is a grand jeté and others dancers do grands jetés, but artistically!!! Don't you see the powerful lyrism of such a "simple grand jeté", that moves one out of his seat? It grips you, it catches your breath...
i see ur point but it just doesnt catch me... he seems like a great artist, but i look for more power... ivan vasiliev is the perfect example of my kind of dancer
@MrNocco I totally agree!! it drives me mad whenever i watch videos of russian performances all they seem to do is show off how high they can jump or how many times the can turn, they never bother to tell the story, it just seems to be about the tricks they can do!!
@emmsteemmastewart are you sure thats russians? russians are known for being semi average turners, especially the females. in their schools they truly appreciate artistry. maybe you mean flexibility, that is a characteristic they over use.
nik is more like Malakov on steriods...bigger jump, more stretched, definitely more masculine...definitely gets my vote as one of the greatest male dancers around right now.
I love your comparison to Malakov on steroids - very apt. Tsiskaridze is terrific - great technique, great artistry, and great stage presence. We recently saw him in Corsair - he brought the house to its feet.
@Thov67 ummmm no. if you watch their interviews they are OPENLY gay and its obvious by the way they carry themselves. if you watch an interview ask yourself honestly if you think he has a girlfriend. reallly.
@bolshoiboy8 When I watch interviews of him, I see (in more "manly") the attitude of a fellow engineer who is happily married and has strictly no attraction for boys. I reckognize Malakhov's attitude "looks" more gay, but even for him I am not sure, as I don't think he is "openly gay" as you say.

I don't think that he's masculine, in a lot of movements he's like a girl...sorry but I see it.

Он очень талантлив и одарен от природы. Но бывает что играет на сцене больше , чем танцует Избаловали вниманием:)))
