Ok, so i am thinking of getting Lagoon Blue by Directions. i found it on ebay and i've already set it on my watch list. :3 anyways, are there any suggested bleaches to use that wont badly damage your hair? because im only doing the bottom half, ( my hair is really healthy ) and i dont want one half to be healthy and one quite damaged. so are there any that someone would recommend? atm at my house i have splat's Lightening bleach. will that damage my hair badly? o-o

Last year my hair was black and I used a hair colour remover because I wanted to dye my hair blue and I used Directions hair dye and it says apply it wet so I wet my hair and towel dried it like it said and I waited 5 minutes more than the recommended time and it went brown!!! I was so disappointed! What happened??
@ChabbalabbaSaysRawr Hi there! What colour was your hair pre-Directions dye? Was it still quite dark? Bright dyes don't tend to show on dark hair very well, so it might have been that?
@candownee it went quite a bright gingery colour when I took the black out of it and it wasn't paarticually a dark colour and I was quite upset it didn't go the blue I wanted.

@TheDavie091 Lighter shades tend to last a shorter amount of time, but don't really show up on non-treated hair. If you wash it more often, it will come out quicker.

@kaitlynd95 yes actually there is a brand called pravana and it stays in for about a month... the only thing is that you cant buy it at sallys or hot topic or anything. you would need to either go to a salon or find someone with a license to buy it at a professional beauty supply store that only people with a license can buy products from...( like a person thhat does hair license lol i dont know what its called a cosmetology license?)

@leewilliams124 scharzkopf is crap, if you got black or blonde it will last a while, if you bought any shade of red it will fade within about two weeks. it's awful.
@leewilliams124 if you have dark hair you'll have to bleach it first to make it bright, i recommend crazy colors as it's easiest to find, use capri blue. it's really good stuff. also to make it last for ages, when you wash your hair wash it with cold water every time and it won't fade as quickly. i have bright red/pink hair and it takes about 3 weeks to fade and it doesn't fade that much because i use cold water :)

I love manic panic and dye my hair once a week, my hair is about the shoulders so one jar lasts 4 or 5 weeks. Bleeching is really agresive specially when you have dark hair like mine so it´s very important to go with a stylist for professional treatments and also use specific shampoo and conditioner, personally i like redken...the worst part is the money, isn´t cheap to keep this kind of colors nice and a healthy hair
I find that directions rubs off onto clothes and pillows quite a bit and ends up all over my face in the morning, is that normal? @IAmRaeesah Unless you have light blonde hair, the red won't come out as you probably imagine or want it to. If you have brown hair, it just gives the brown a red tint. If you have light hair, go a head. I, myself, have never used Manic Panic's or Crazy Colours' reds, but the general consensus seems to be that Manic Panic is the better brand of the two. But if you want a dye that washes out more quickly, then you can go for CC.

@Sing2Sing2828 What I would do is dye all the hair you aren't going to dye green, black. (it would be harder for the color to show if you try to dye it green over black hair) And then dye the part you want green with a permanent green color of your choice(it will also bleach that part of your hair).. and buy one of the temp hair dyes to touch it up when it starts to fade.
I totally agree with you on the no. 2; special effects is the BEST! I've used the blue one you showed, the red, and the purple and they lasted forever, which was awesome. The colors even turned into even nicer colors as it faded out too. Good choices! :)

@libertylikeafox Hey, orange will cling to your hair, but once it's faded a bit, it'll be easy to dye over it with a brown shade. So, any orange will be fine :)

@Marileeee27 It fades to a strange murky, green colour. I think Blue Lagoon is the only directions colour I don't like, because it's terrible at retaining it's true colour.
when using directions, did you find you had to mix it first? because i tried pastel pink and it didn't actually work on my hair so i think i might of applied it wrong
Have you ever mixed apple green and alpine green? Cause I want to dye my hair some time soon and the best choice in my case would be directions but I'm not sure about which shade(s) of green to order.
@offwithurhead I have mixed them which didn't work out so well for me. Alpine green is very dark and quite heavily blue based, where as apple green is more towards yellow and is a very nice, bright colour. So it depends what shade you're going for really.
I died my hair purple twice before using manic panic. It turned out amazing - bright and neon. But the problem is, I've washed my hair since then and it's already fading to blue. >:[

@OmnOMonOmoNomONomn The benefit of Manic Panic is that the colour WILL take well to darker hair, provided we're not talking about dark dark browns or blacks. It just means the colour will be a darker more rich colour, rather than a bright or vibrant one. Spoken from experience, I highly reccommend Vampire Red or Infra Red. Both are amazing colours
wow... you have the exact opposite problems with the dye than i do. The only brands that have the color blue i need are the ones outside of the U.S. manic panic and special effects are EVERYWHERE here... cheap and overrated. i'd do ANYTHING to find directions or stargazer dye around here.
I <3 special effects colors but they do not work well in my hair compared to manic panic, they work awesome in my kids hair though so we usually have about 15-20 different colors in about 4 different brand in the house to achieve what we want lol. And I agree electric lizard sucks!! My son used it and it was so washed out looking and just a slight tint, he also used atomic turquoise which did the same thing...money wasted until we mixed it with other greens & blues! <3 your hair color!!

I use Directions and I love it!! I wouldn't recommend Pastel Pink though, it didn't really work...I have Lagoon Blue in my hair now and it is the same colour as they say it is :)

If you use the really light pasel colors from manic panic you really need to bleach your hair the lightest you can.if you dont it wont turn out the way you want.my hair turned green because i bleached my black hair to yellow but after a second blue dye it turned out perfect

Ok so I really love Crazy Color's Emerald green dye. Is this dye any good or does it suck?

I never thought I'd say this, but you make green hair look great! (not that I'd ever dye it green haha)
I hope you don't take offense to this, but why does it seem like everyone that dyes their hair abnormal colors is from a different country (maybe you are from america idk but you have an accent) It just makes me mad because I watch the videos of dying hair bright red, and every time I ask what dye they use, they tell me but say you can't get it an america! haha

I currently have light brown hair, but i want to dye it a bright orange. i can only have it orange for about 8 weeks and then have to go back to a natural-ish colour. i've been told i cant get the orange colour out of my hair until it grows out once its in (so i was thinking maybegoing like a darker orange after, maybe like auburn) what dye would you recommend? Please reply!

@libertylikeafox Hey, orange will cling to your hair, but once it's faded a bit, it'll be easy to dye over it with a brown shade. So, any orange will be fine :)

the directions color. does it run in the shower like punky color, or is it like a foam like manic panic, i use a dark blue color and im looking for a color that sticks to my hair for a long time, but i do wear my hair in pig tails some times and punkycolor left blue stain along my neck, although the color was great so please help i really do want a color that sticks without the being runny

i used electric lizard on my bangs not to long ago and it was such a wonderful green!! it was so bright and vibrant!:DDD it might be cuz my bangs where bleached white O.o but it was amazing! and the color lasted! i loved it n___n<33

@Marileeee27 It fades to a strange murky, green colour. I think Blue Lagoon is the only directions colour I don't like, because it's terrible at retaining it's true colour.

Have you ever mixed apple green and alpine green? Cause I want to dye my hair some time soon and the best choice in my case would be directions but I'm not sure about which shade(s) of green to order.

@offwithurhead I have mixed them which didn't work out so well for me. Alpine green is very dark and quite heavily blue based, where as apple green is more towards yellow and is a very nice, bright colour. So it depends what shade you're going for really.

I died my hair purple twice before using manic panic. It turned out amazing - bright and neon. But the problem is, I've washed my hair since then and it's already fading to blue. >:[

i've bleached my hair before, and i need to do it again soon. but my hair is alot shorter and more thin..i don't need it blonde..just light enough so i can dye it red. what bleach would cause less damage? and any other tips? thanks :)

@OmnOMonOmoNomONomn The benefit of Manic Panic is that the colour WILL take well to darker hair, provided we're not talking about dark dark browns or blacks. It just means the colour will be a darker more rich colour, rather than a bright or vibrant one. Spoken from experience, I highly reccommend Vampire Red or Infra Red. Both are amazing colours

wow... you have the exact opposite problems with the dye than i do. The only brands that have the color blue i need are the ones outside of the U.S. manic panic and special effects are EVERYWHERE here... cheap and overrated. i'd do ANYTHING to find directions or stargazer dye around here.

I <3 special effects colors but they do not work well in my hair compared to manic panic, they work awesome in my kids hair though so we usually have about 15-20 different colors in about 4 different brand in the house to achieve what we want lol. And I agree electric lizard sucks!! My son used it and it was so washed out looking and just a slight tint, he also used atomic turquoise which did the same thing...money wasted until we mixed it with other greens & blues! <3 your hair color!!

I have a question, do you think this would work if I went over my copper-brownish (it's a light color) hair with a revlon platinum blonde hair kit, and then tried to use the red on it.
Or would it work better with bleach?

I use Directions and I love it!! I wouldn't recommend Pastel Pink though, it didn't really work...I have Lagoon Blue in my hair now and it is the same colour as they say it is :)

If you use the really light pasel colors from manic panic you really need to bleach your hair the lightest you can.if you dont it wont turn out the way you want.my hair turned green because i bleached my black hair to yellow but after a second blue dye it turned out perfect
