Samsung Skyrocket vs Samsung Galaxy S II Part 2 "AT&T Face Off"

Well I was sure I was getting the s2 then saw the skyrocket, nexus and now the s3 is coming out! I like a huge screen phone, but I'm old school I need clear calling and speaker phone, that's not even talked about ne more! So ne suggestions on these phones? I'm still a fan of the s2 so far. Thanks

@chotu221 Explain? The Skyrocket is Newer, has a Faster processor, Bigger Screen, bigger battery, and newer version of android......the Only thing the S2 has over it is Size, but thats a trade-off for a bigger screen. So...Please Enlighten yourself.

@YoshiLover2012 Sorry to contradict you, but the S2 has a faster processor made by Samsung called Exynos. The S2 has gorilla glass, the Skyrocket doesn't and the S2 is much smoother.

Although Quallcom < Exynos, the Skyrocket is clocked at 1.5 MHz while the S2 is clocked at 1.2 MHz.

@YoshiLover2012 It doesn't matter, the Snapdragon processor is over clocked at 1.5GHz, which is still fast, but the 1.2GHz Exynos processor is faster even at 1.2GHz. The Snapdragon tends to lag more than the Exynos. The speed is really close to each other so u won't really notice much of a difference.

Just waiting for the S2 to drop to FREE and I'll be getting one. It was released in Oct ....so I would say May/June. I could get the Infuse for free right now but I want the extra juice the S2 has. Every time I see a commercial for a new phone I know I'm one step closer to this phone dropping in price.

skyrocket needs ICS NOW! Maybe that will help utilize it's processor much better. Cause as of now mine is fast some days and slow the other days. If I had to choose between the two, it would have to be between screen size because my friend has a Samsung galaxy s2 and we both compared and the only difference really was screen size. All in all no noticeable difference.

very good review, i buy and sell phones mostly iphones and smartphones i have been using a iphone most of my mobile life, im only 15, i am currenly using my iphone 4 i had a lg thrill i got from some one to resale and sold it but i used it for week and loved it, i am getting the skyrocket for a personal phone. i have jailbroken my iphone 4 bc it is not coutemizable at all, i got a GS2 epic for sprint and love it but it is a phone for resale

The 4G LTE capability of the phone was withheld from the video? Differences in smartphones are relatively minimal these days, but progress is being made nonetheless and to not show the primarily significant, and perhaps the only change worthy of mention is reason enough to discard this "comparison". I understand you are not in an LTE available area yet, so how is it fair to post these videos and clearly disadvantage the skyrocket by not showing its most prominent feature?

I hear what you are saying but you work with what you have. I believe if there was a way they were able to conduct the tests within a LTE area they would of so had to settle for wi fi. I mean honestly even with the handicap SR had a pretty good showing IMO. I was turned off by the picture quality overall with the SR vs the GSII though.

Its not the end all be all of phones that's for sure but my point is compared to to the sgs2, just a good and better for ME as an LTE device. The regular user may find the larger screen and speeds quite nice. The average nerd or fanboy on XD may find some talking points for you and all gripe about. Get over it, its a great phone and someone on At&T looking to upgrade..this is the best of the bunch.

Where I live/work At&t has already LTE. And dammn! 60 Megs is ALOT!. I just bought the iPhone 4s 2 days ago and after seeing a few videos i'll definitely change it for a Skyrocket. Thanks god the 30 days exchange policy exist!

AT&T has comensed with their LTE and are opening markets consistently .If one were to get into a 2 year contract, wouldn't you want a phone that was ready for it? Its not like you're getting any less the hspa. All im saying is that the two phones are very comparable. LTE in know way hurts the Skyrocket lol its the future bud..

Problem is, LTE is the ONLY thing the Skyrocket has going for it. It's not an evolution of the SII in any way other than that. Check the XDA forums; the Skyrocket has known issues with battery life and a vertical line issue that appears on most of the devices. The CPU and GPU are also less responsive. What ATT needs is the Nexus. The Skyrocket is a poor substitute for that.

At 0:30, you can see the top and bottom edges of the screen get blurry on the Skyrocket as he slides the list up and down, but it doesn't happen to the Galaxy S 2.

At 6:40, where the page is shifted to the right, you'll notice the Skyrocket goes blurry when it comes to the edge of the page, but the Galaxy S2 shoes a clean edge. Same as at 6:20 when he scrolls down to the very bottom and the Skyrocket shows a blurry edge at the bottom.

@MatthewFordVictoria that is the difference between android 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 in 2.3.5 they removed the overdraw and replaced it with a blue tint. You can see on the OGS2 it overdraws when it hits a side of the screen. This is not a blurry edge.

The skyrocket is ATT flag ship. The skyrocket has gotten a update(2.3.6). And the OGSII hasnt(2.3.4)...and it needs it to fix the home lag and the security fail.

I also think that if you get ADW EX it will probably give it a speed boast ;) just my opinion.

I notice the battery level towards the end of the video is higher on S2 compared to skyrocket. Did you start with full battery on both. Did you do almost same stuff on both though out the tests and video. Your opinion on the battery life please.

The galaxy s2 is lighter, faster, and cheaper, unless you live in a 4g lite area (which most of us don't) there's no point in getting the skyrocket

I wouldn't say the Skyrocket is the T-Mobile equivalent of the GS II because videos I've seen with the latter is the only one that lags. I don't think they have the same processor.

just go with the skyrocket the LTE is worth the minute difference in speed because your basically getting wifi everywhere with LTE if your in an area with LTE, and if your not right now at least if LTE comes your way in the next 2 years you will be ready for it

Okay - so I have a question - is it me or does the Galaxy S II seem to have a bit more contrast in it's display versus the Skyrocket?

I can tell that the Skyrocket seems to be brighter however is it 'brighter' because it's a little low in contrast (compared to the Galaxy S II - see the 0:07 - 0:22 mark) OR is it truly brighter with the equivalent amount of contrast as the Galaxy S II?

Is it me or do the whites look actually white on the Skyrocket and sort if yellowish on the og? Anyway I'll be getting the Skyrocket for the lte that was just released in my area. As far as quadrant, I've seen the gs2 score under 3000 several times so it can very with any phone. I think all the gs2 owners should relax and admit that these are comparable phones with lte being a big fat WIN!!!!

@JSantana319 sorry man I was talking shiiiiit man the galaxy note rapes the s2 in every test it's exactly the same phone but with just a overclock processor from 1.2 to1.4 GHZ and both processor are exact the same but note has more power remember when the s2 first come out it was a bit lagging too and they fix itstraightafter release so let's no be so critical about it

I love the galaxy s2 but if you want to empress the girls than the note it's the one lol every one at uni today where very impress with my note people from another classes came to see it and most of them were girls lol and nice ones lol I got my note from Germany for £479 I saved £100 lol on 2days delivery , very quick .
