  • EPIC FUCKING SOLO!!!

  • His solo here is one of the best ever

  • ..man this song is so difficullt to nail.....

  • Paul is just awesome in general. Awesome stage performance, even by himself, awesome guitars, awesome style and music, awesome guitar strap, ultra badass guitarist!

  • 6 people forgot yell "YEAH!"

  • i tried to play this and i die

  • A great piece like this should be played on a massive stage, not this bar. Makes me so sad.

  • @kristofor12345 if you read the video description you'd see that it's not at a bar its at the Musikmesse, in Frankfurt Germany, the biggest music convention in all of Europe, and is the equivalent of the U.S.'s NAMM....so yeah, he's playing at a place that's packed with plenty of musicians. I've been to the Messe plenty of times so where he's playing is fit for such a piece, but yeah I agree he needs to be on a bigger stage.

  • and I try to play the end of superheroes... I have a long (fckn)long way left...

  • one step above CHUCK NORRIS!!

  • I'm still trying to unmelt my face from that ending. Cee-rist.

  • "Teh Gargoyle" lol typo at the description

  • Verrrrryyy Brian May at 1:00ish, love PG! My freaking idol!

  • This has got to be one of the fucking greatest riffs of all time

  • What a great performer, keeps the audience into it, flawless playing, just everything is perfection. Great show. I wish i could have been there

  • Paul Gilbert is amazing as always, but can everyone here the bass too? He's shredding mad as well!

  • He's from the planet Gilbert where all they do is play music, fast, and drink nectar. (don't ask me what any of that means).

  • super fat sideburns!

  • People need to stop comparing to PG to god.

    God makes mistakes PG doesnt

  • Planet of the apes at 1:39

  • he swept!

  • wheewww no wonder why mister big is considered a "super band".. gilbert and sheehan.. legends

  • 2:42 Such an amazing way to hit a key change!

  • Once I was introduced to Paul Gilbert's music, I never again thought any other songs to have technical, or as intense solos... Thanks a lot Paul, you just raise the bar massively beyond human expectations ^.^

  • Sounds like power metal.

    Coolio.

  • @H057IL3 power metal with rock attitude my friend

  • ultra amazing...

    []_[[]][]_

  • Pauls always so modest about his sweep picking when hes actually a complete demon. The sweeps that he does in karn evil 9 are a beast aswel

  • He's an alien.

  • he's an alien.

  • ..... FUCK!!!!

  • @ 1:17 when the drums and trem picking start... Probably my favourite part of the song. And again when he does it later.

  • this sounds like the album version just recorded over a video. because thats how clean he is.

  • did anyone notice the sweep and tap at 1:00?i noticed it when viewing for 10th time

  • @dontdissheavymetal haha yeh man the sweep n' tap! she always goes down smooth

  • Paul Gilbert > any king of god >>>>>>>>> human race

  • What can a man do more than this....

  • and then by some "experts" dude from Metalica is in the top 100 guitarists and Paul Gilbert is not.Paul should get more credits for his work

  • @dontdissheavymetal

What experts? Those jokes over at Rolling Stone magazine? Those guys wouldn't know a good song if it kicked 'em in the balls.

Oh, but they can tell you the most POPULAR songs. And that, my friend, is where their "expertise" comes in.

  • ..... ... "Yeah!"

  • the second solo is hard to play even for Paul, damn!!!

  • paul gilbert ftw

  • this song is epic

  • Man he is amazing!! And a great teacher too!

  • I want his picking technique *_*

  • I want his guitar and picking technique

  • @bitchslapper12 trust me mate if you knew how to play like this guy , you wouldn't care about the guitar, cause you'd have it already

  • @bitchslapper12 i want his pinky finger

  • @bitchslapper12 we all want his guitar and picking technique hehe

  • We all do

  • where can i find tabs for this? that doesnt require guitar pro

  • ultimate guitar.

  • download Tuxguitar, it can read guitar pro files and its free

  • tux guitar is great

  • Fuck yes another believer of tuxguitar!

  • yeah your a fool if you actually spend money on Guitarpro :D

  • once they put in let ring it will be perfect =D

  • the mascot records website has a download with the music notaion with tab, backing tracks and a note from paul. its all in one zip file download, and its for the whole sfbadr album.

  • DUDE! Thanks for posting that. I just downloaded it and it all works perfect. Although you probably did just cause the end of my marriage and eventual death since every waking moment will now be dedicated to learning this stuff.

  • DUDE THIS SOUNDS AMAZING scratch that GODLY!

  • YEAH! what a legend

  • Paul Gilbert ---> simplesmente um dos melhores !

  • YEAH lol

  • Paul can sweep easily from descending to ascending.Don't believe Paul!!He's lying when he says he can't sweep back up.Look at the Clinic he does at 1987.

  • Perfect live!

  • most cool guitarrist ever after me :D

  • Paul is the man

  • Ridiculous precision. Watching him play is always mind blowing for me. Every pick stroke is like damn near perfect.

  • Practice and you can be better

  • very madenish i love it

  • (my Opinion) best picks out there are tortex.

  • yes. the blue one with a pink face...i think it is.

  • PG is cool.

I got a pick from him in 1993. I still have it!

  • Is it one of his signature picks?! Rhinos :O?!

  • Paul gilbert is under rated, he is actually a guitar god.

  • @flamingaxe791 hes even better then most of the guitar gods, so actually he is a guitar god god...

  • @flamingaxe791 damn right he is

  • @flamingaxe791 underated?

  • @TheInvalidChronicles yeah i was gonna say the same rofl

  • @flamingaxe791 yes, unfortunately most guitar gods are.

  • @flamingaxe791 who dares to under rate him? they need to give up at life

  • @flamingaxe791 - well, almost everyone that knows of his work would not underrate this man. Greatest musician / guitarist in the world in my opinion.

  • @flamingaxe791 he is actually god

  • @flamingaxe791 Why do you think he is under rated my friend?I don't think so.But you are right ,he is a guitar God :))))

  • his lucky Ibanez..

  • One thing I've noticed about Paul is he don't really like to do Sweeps. Although he is amazing at them, he just rarely does them.

  • @doconer1 I think Paul is more of a purist when it comes to every note being distinct so he prefers to pick as much as he can. There is nothing wrong with sweeping arpeggios but relying on them too much lends a player to being sloppy.

  • That's true. I like his music a lot better without Sweeps though.

  • well u pick every note when u sweep soo :/

  • @ZeppelinForever9 Look up the word "staccato," find out what it means, and then try to do it like Paul Gilbert.

  • Anyone know if he's just using the stock marshall, or is he using pedals?

  • @Bookstop1337

    watch?v=t2b31-NiyjM

AC Booster : Everything is cranked up, disgusting noise, but it makes the guitar easier to play.

  • Be aware, thats only when you control a guitar 100%. all kinds of mistakes will be boosted

  • @triaxtasy, nah that can't be the truth. saw him a few times solo, with mr. big and in clinics. this guy has a very clean and absolutely no noisy sound. Imagine at the end in this video how much feedback/noise he would get when he stop to play without turning the volume down? So in short: the better technique you have the less distortion you need

  • PG is so damn cool and relaxed. Seen him twice, and he fuckin' slayed me!

  • I don't get what all of this commotion is about Paul and sweeps. Sure sweeps are hard, but string skips are harder and Paul does string skips all the fucking time. Plus, as is evident, he can do sweeps.

  • YEAH!!!!!!!!

  • he sweep taps at 0:58 kids, sorry to cause the heartache.

  • The alternate picking in this song is immense, it makes your arm go soo dead after playing it!

  • sounds awesome..will have to watch again

  • Haha, he's so polite. He cough's off to his side, near the drummer.

  • or just away from the mic... :/

  • The sweeps kill and the Gargoyle lick too.Makes me wanna quit playing guitar.

  • he doesn't sweep pick

  • he never sweep picks.....saw him say it in a video its all string skiping

  • Did he say why he never sweeps?

  • something about how he feels string-skipping is more "rhythmic" than sweeping, and he struggles with the upstroke part of sweeping (I think he's just being modest!)

  • He does sweep in this song. He would rather string skip whenever possible, but there are sweeps in some of his songs. Like in this one : 0:58 there's two in a row.

  • He sweeps,He just did it with the tapping.I know his strings skip sounds.the one with the tap is def sweep pick+tapping.

  • He DOES sweep pick, very rarely but he does sweep in this song

  • @GerMaj7th im just sayin what he said in a video

  • Thats ok, I'm not trying to argue or anything :) but I have the DVD with tabs and it's definitley 2 sweep-taps beginning on a G# and an A#

  • @Germaj7th found the vid he said it in.... lol watch?v=1yZA4CkEbjY&NR=1

  • It doesn't matter, he performs 2 5-string sweeps in this song and that is a fact. I'm sorry to break your heart, but its true. Watch the DVD, check the official tab from Paul himself and you'll see that.

  • I know it dont matter just backing up what I had herd :p

  • love this tune!!

  • That was phenomenal.

  • well i don't really understand why its called the gargoyle

  • Because of the famous "Gargoyle Lick" of Mr. Michael Angelo Batio, who made the lick in early 80's.

  • everybody messes up, PG is no exception.

  • @ilovestinalots You gotta admit his technique is perfect. Like actually perfect. It's mind numbing.

  • as close to perfect as it gets but he misses a note once in a blue moon :) he's only part human

  • Anybody else notice he looks alot like Ted Logan from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure in this video? Especially when he yells YEAH!. Rofl (: Paul Gilbert is the man.

  • hes using the randy rhoads marshall stack

  • "Yeah!" Lol PG is so frickin awesome

  • He's so good.

He plays really fast yet gets it super clean.

I didn't mean for you to type that in the comment.

    Hahahahahaha

    Stop that!

Stop typing what I say faggot!

    sddsfsd

  • I admire him because he makes no mistakes.Guitar god

  • Man jaja wtf?? Paul makes a lot of mistakes, if you listen good you will know that he get wrong in of part, but he is my favorit guitar player :D

  • I don't hear any mistakes, unless you count improvisation as a mistake :p

  • Oh right. I'll take your word for it :)

  • I haz noise canceling headphones on blocking out all da noise around me.......cant hear any mistakes at all dood

  • i couldnt either but im not a guitarist lol but this guy is beastly

  • maybe he are not perfect maybe your not perfect too, maybe i'm not perfect ....

  • lol at the unnecessary fourth yeah.

  • The Gargoyle lick is not actually MAB's signature lick. Its just a minor scale and the note sequence is chosen by every player individually. Even Megadeth's song Hangar 18 has the same lick in it. So i personally don't consider it as a signature MAB lick.

    PG FTW!!!!!!!!! =D

  • This song is so sick it required Paul Gilbert, thats PAUL mothafucking GILBERT, to do a two part outro... Damn...

  • LOL that last lick 4:13 is Micheal Angelo Batio's gargoyle lick LOL!!

  • i guess thats why its called the gargoyle

  • LOL, is no a trademarked lick you asshole.

  • Listen... its the same dumnoob...

    watch?v=CG_q2nnYl_4&feature=related

I still love Paul, he's my fav and he has the right to use this lick... all virtuosos look up to each other anyway.

  • It doesn't mather if is the same you son of a bitch.

Anyone can use licks because they are on scales, and guitarist doesn't own them you moron.

  • No...someone had to play it this way idiot... i didnt came with the manual... Batio was the first to use it.. period

  • It was probably used during the classical era too..dont get me wrong but who played it before MAB could?? now there's the real question.

  • What a guy..!! :/

  • such an amazing song....

i wanna learn to play this when i get my new amp head next weeek!!!! (randall rm100m with ultra xl/sl+ modules if you were wondering)

  • lucky

    have funn with it

  • i shall :)

hopefully this wont take as long as im thinking

  • the ending is soooooo good! very cool!

  • haha the begining is epic!

  • It's ALL epic, my friend :)

  • no mms le sale =

  • Paul does sweep pick in this song. Right at :59. Before that he's string skipping. Just watch his picking hand.

  • Im always wondering how that this works 0:59- 1:01... I dont mean the tapping.. I mean the sound.. its very special I think

  • you mean the sweeping?

  • i dont think its sweeping

    probably string skipping arpeggios

he's said on many an instructional lesson that he doesnt sweep but uses string skipping arpeggios

in my opinion they sound better than sweeps

  • of course gilbert sweeps, he just says he doesn't sweep MUCH,i've seen him sweep live before but its something he throws in now and again, still he probably does favour string skipping arps to standard sweeping

  • ahh, ive never seen him sweep in his recent vids

like, in the 80s he did it more than skipping

i suppose he does both too well anyway

  • Oh Dragonforce do this all of the time. I don't know how it's done though.

  • aaaaaah fair enough i guess we all have our own opinions

  • @Haribo23451

I think you are completely wrong. MAB has speed, and a great tehnique, that is something that noone can take from him, but he lacks all other. I find Paul Gilbert's music more melodic then MAB's.

But nonetheless, JP is still much better then two of them, couse the dude has speed, tehnique, passion, feeling etc.

  • it's all opinion though

  • nah man, putting labels on virtuoso's is retarded. there aren't levels of awesomeness. im sure that many players don't do the playing with feel thing because they believe that thats what people look for but either way, paul gilbert is popular as is mab and jp but they're all really guitarist's guitarists. they play for people like us because people like us understand as opposed to most people who just listen to pop or rap.

  • I love how when Paul plays he's just like "ho hum... playin my little ditty... fa la la" as if he's just walking and then makes faces like he's gonna cream his pants lol

  • MAB is a more technically proficent guitarist but his tone and music is as cold and lifeless as a meat packing plant. I can't listen to MAB for more than 5 minutes; I'd take Paul over Batio any day.

  • i think the complete opposite of u haribo. michael and paul are both extremely talented. but im gonna have to agree with vvvlahek, paul in my opinion is much better and he has more emotion in his playing.

  • Comment removed

  • u can say he is crap wen u can play like that -- nob cheese

  • You don't know what you are talking about. I love them both. But saying MAB is a sloppy player totally points you towards being an asshole. MAB is probably in the most clean players out there. (as is gilbert)

And who says MAB can't play with feeling? Bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • are you deaf? I dont like MAB, i love gilbert, but to call MAB sloppy is the most retarded thing i've ever heard, you tell me who isnt sloppy then? MAB is 1 of the cleaner players and i dont even like his stuff, and its amusing because millions of people would say both guitarists play with no feeling (which isnt true) but yah, you have some growing up to do if you use phrases like "play with feeling" they ALL play with feeling, but you only connect with what you prefer, i prefer gilbert

  • Comment removed

  • love him or hate him u gotta admit tha
