Great video! I love going to Olvera Street during Day of the Dead! They have skeleton folk art bursting out of practically every shop during that time!!!
El culto a los muertos nace antes de la conquista de Mexico, es una fiesta de mucho colorido, este video fue grabado en los EE UU y son los mexicanos que van a trabajar alla y no se olvidan de nuestras costumbres.
this is so beautiful and the little girl said it we are all brothers and sisters, we all die. aww I love california...!! BEAUTIFUL. can't wait to celebrate up here in San Francisco this weekend!!! ;-)
Im pretty sure Day of the dead was originated by the Aztecs, but I could be wrong. Many cultures & many different types of people celebrate Dia de los Muertos. I have learned much recently about this holiday & am quite sure of myself when I say it was originated by the aztecs. =)
You are right, it a celebration that comes from our ancerts the mexicas or Aztecs. Then it was mixed with the catolic religion but it come from the Mexicas.
por favor, many countries around the world celebrate this holiday. not all quite the same, but it is still near or around the time of All Saints day and all celebrate the dead.
Ok, I see where you are coming from. You also have to understand that messages often dont work the same when in writing. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to your wording. Either way, that is your opinion, and I am sticking to mine as well. Every part of it. You may want to "guard" your traditions, I prefer to share them openly.
Being a Mexican myself, I am actually very dissapointed to hear remarks like these. It reeks of ignorance. Day of the Dead is not "strictly" Mexican. There are many latin-American cultures that take part in this celebration. They may differ slightly in traditions, but the end-result is the same.
My question is, what is wrong in wanting to take part in traditions that are not of your decent? I believe sharing traditions (like these) is very beneficial for everyone.
I'm a makeup artist living in L.A. Someone hired me to do their make up for Dia de los Muertos and I decided to do some research. This video makes me proud to be a resident in L.A. with so much culture its a beautiful thing.Thank you for posting this video.
I am wiccan as is my wife and we do the same thing on Samhain Oct 31 is when we start setting up the Ofrenda or altar and Nov 1-2 is the day of the dead. I set up pictures and food and things that ment alot to my mom and grandmother. My wife sets up pictures of Aunts and fav things they use to eat.
Thank you so much for the vid My wife and I enjoyed it very much. Hopefully I will post on my spot a vid of our Altar for the dead
