I'd say cancel your Virgin Media contract, and then go with BT for example,or vice versa. There are enough out there,to swap each time.Me thinks they will leave folks alone?
Ok the people have been doing this for years even before computers and p2p shareing. Let me just say this it was called the record button on your RADIO'S AND STEREO'S. and there made blank tapes and CD's. So then now Computers have this recording ablies. NOW THEY WANT TO ARREST US. Even if they ban this people still can copy a CD and pass it around. The record button o an stereo has been there for centuries. It might not be a mp3 player but its still is music. The Law are so broken.
I use Truecrypt 6.1a. No one can find any proofs on my computer without password. IP logs are not enough to charge anyone in my country as they can be faked too. They have to find evidence on the computer as a proof. I dont have to give the passwords to anyone. Brute force breaking the passwords to my computer can take 50 years for a super computer.
I hate to tell you this but Truecrypt is not that strong and probably has a backdoor for the Government. Also if you download anything you are not supposed to then it will be recorded on your computer. It is recorded in hidden sectors on your hard try that encase can easily find again. THe only way to destroy a hard drive properly is to put it through a strong magnetic current. Or use gutman eraser. DOD 7 or any multiple writing program. But it would take hours to destory all the data.
backdoor on a opensource software? highly unlikely. If there was one everyone would know. You can download the source code and analyse it. Many others did and did not find any backdoor. Of course there is a chance to get the password if you put your ram modules in liquid nitrogen right after turning the power off. But the data stored there degrades quick in time. After cutting the power off (includes the power to your PSU) there is no chance of remaining of any data in RAM or any other chip.
If you download anything illegal by the time its on your computer you would not have time to erase it with gutman they would be knocking at your door or kicking it in. Its impossible really.
The only way is to encrypt the entire hard drive and have it locked by the bios that way it will all be scrambled data. When you download thing you can then press the reset button if anyone turns up and bang goes all the data. Thats why Governments want software like that banned
The password that truecrypt uses can be held in the chips on the computer and if you look on youtube you will see that you can read those chips and find sensitive info. The swap file on your pc also contains the data for hte password, so they would not have to break it simply find the password on your pc and thats it
The internet is quite simply TOO large. I would guess that several billion people are online. DO YOU realise the amount informantion that would be? If aliens came here and plugged into the net they would be gaining 100% CORRECT info and all the FALSE stuff. Its a falsehood.
The internet appears to be large. But if you know anything about it you would know that ISPs have so many nodes per IP. So say I downloaded a music file from kazaa or whatever the file can be traced to my particular computer. The ISP would identify me and therefore get my address and action would be taken. It doesn't matter how large the internet is. IPs can be traced. Even Proxies can be broken and people can be found. The net is an as annonymous as you would think.
So, (thank you for the reply by the way 38,000!! Holy smokes!!) in other words THEY can see the internet usage of almost every1 alive using it RIGHT now. All sorts of info. Emails, banks, tax and everything. The net is a illusion. Both what we're doing being secret and the fact that people on the other side can BE ANYONE. The best way to control us is to make us think that we have something which is our own. Big Brother and the whole family is watching.
Most firewalls have government back doors so does encryption software. The only way to stay safe is to not do anything illegal. Everyone can laugh until they get a knock on the door then its too late
"He who wins shall lose and he who wins loses shall win". Good point dude. All good card player know to have the odd (and cards) stacked in their favor. Can't hackers use the very anti - virus stuff to hi jack. Like a double agent? If they knock on my door... I'll shove the door up their ass. In a nice wayof course.
Hackers are clever they use doctored anti virus software and put them on warez sites. You download them and then your PC is compromised. Most hacking is done by simply having spyware on the PC. It is not necessary to guess the password the software will simply email it to the attacker. Then they can get access to all the stuff online. Bank business used to be easy, but now they have chip readers and other techniques
The NAZIs in the Second World War could not collect data like we can on computers now. That is worrying. They are thinking of bringing in ID Cards for everyone in the UK. Of course it will be voluntary first, but then it will be mandatory. The fact that sensitive info can be compromised means that this would be very risky and totally against cival rights. Your DNA, Fingerprints and maybe even Retina scans will be on those cards.
Clubs have an entertainment licence. This allows them to play tracks on one day similar to a radio station. But if say you recorded it with your IPOD etc then it would be illegal. It has gotten so bad now that some offices have banned playing the radio there as the company would have to have an entertainment licence.
If you ever do get a letter with this BS.
