I use these type of formulas a lot, but there is one issue and that is the date format itself. In europe we use the dd-mm-yyyy format, in US mm-dd-yyyy is used. Even fixing the format for the cells still creates issues because also the international setting of Windows is a factor, I have not been able to control this yet. Do you have any tips to check or correct date-format so that the formulas work okay, its is a big difference if 1-12-2011 means Jan. 12 or Dec. 1 :-) Hope you can help me here.
It should never be a problem because the underlying number is a serial number that tells us the number of days since Dec 31, 1899. The number under 1-12-2011 on US computers and 12-1-2011 on computers that put the day before the month are the same. So the issue is that you must know what default settings are being used on the computer you are using. These can be changes in the Control Panel under Regional and Language settings.
@ExcelIsFun I know the underlying number is the same but have found that depending on the international settings the date format sometimes seems to change although I try to fix the formatting in the cells. haven't found teh cause of that yet. Then users think they enter in EU format but the cells got formatted to US format, then the underlying number changes. And my compliments to your vids, I used a lot of them to simplify my excel tools and give them more power! Thanks!!
