I have a new laptop now with W7 build 7022 and 3GB ram, although you can run vista on 512mb ram but it'll work at it's best with 2GB

From what I heard about the Windows 7 beta, they really did a lot of work on the kernel and it is a lot more stable than Vista. It's also a lot faster as well. I hope they release the public beta soon.

ah but xp has a much stable kernel, when you take into account that Windows 2000 was built off of Windows NT 4 and xp was built from Windows 2000, Vista is a new development, basically in the early stages of new technology, Windows 7 might be better when it's released in the future, conclusion would be better if the core was built off of it's predecessor, xp is much more stable.

It was £500 but I recommend you buy an HP 2200, my mum got one lsat night for £400 from staples.

160GB HDD, 1.9Ghz AMD Athlon x2 64 bit processor, 2gig ram, 800mb vram nvidia graphics chip, built in webcam, Vista Home Premium as standard, and it looks cool too.

That wont run Ultimate. You need at least MINIMUM 1gb of Ram and the 1.5ghz will be bad. you could run Basic but thats a waist of money.

Some come with other features, I strongly advise you DO NOT get home basic though. Home premium or Ultimate (or business if you're constantly using a laptop for work)

i bought a laptop just like that,excpet it has a tl52 X2,and 1.5gb of ram. The graphics card is ati x200m,and it can be set to 512mb in the bios. Isnt that weird?? Ati x200m should be doing that. It should be 128 dedicated,and 128 system mem. Did you find any difference in gaming when memory is set to 64mb on bios,than 256mb??

I've not tried anything below 256mb, but my vista's weird, coz I set it to 256mb, then it just makes the system add on 128mb, but if I set it to 128mb, then it makes the system add on 256mb, which is weird :S.

But XP, it has 256 dedicated and adds on 256 from the system memory.

Definitely, it'll run amazingly with a dual core processor and 1.5gb ram, and 256/512mb vram.

You should just download the RTM from bittorrent or something, then do the bios hack. [set date to 2099, install, restart, then when it's started up again set the date (through windows) back to 2007]

nahh, if you're the admin then any process like installing/uninstalling a prog it will ask you to confirm, and if you're a standard user it'll ask you for the admin's password when installing/uninstalling a prog

Yeh mac make it out as if you have to click yes on emails and that but that's a load of crap, and you can turn it off in control panel if it bugs you also.

I think it also asks when deleting an important file.

I never bought it =) I used a copy, set the date to 2099 and installed it [then u get 30 days to activate] then set the date back to 2007 thus giving u bout 92 years and 30 days.
