About the tone - the mix may have been suited to the cavernous nature of Earl's Court Arena, although it is hard to tell from audience recordings, thanks to, of course, the cavernous nature of Earl's Court Arena.
About the tone... MrZoso is right... listen to in my time of dying, stairway to heaven and trampled underfoot from the DVD and compare it to the tone from the pro shot boots... seattle and knebworth's proshot boots sound the same and knebworth's DVD also has the properly mixed guitar tone.
I'm not crazy about Page's tone here. But, Jesus, how the man moves with that Les Paul. Swagger, arrogance, grace and power. And he looks fuckin' cool...
@tjcoffey Yeah, his guitar sounds out of tune here and he should have turned up his amp, but Page moves like no other guitarist and is much more interesting to watch than most other guitarists. His movements punctuate the music and make him look more guitar god-like. I sense that he's really into the music and is one with his guitar. He really was the epitome of cool and the prototypical guitar hero: the skinny guy with the long hair and the Les Paul slung slow.
@MrZoso78 I'm aware it's a boot. Page's '75 tone is a lot different from his tone in '73. I'm not partial to it. Be that as it may, "Swagger, arrogance, grace and power" still defines Jimmy.
@MrZoso78 I know this show (that's my second account here ;)) And I still think that this is the best version from that tour, I've heard almost every show froum this tour.

@MrZoso78 It's a video source recording, so it's actually quite similiar to soundboard and multitrack recording of this show;)
