These are certainly the best examples of film. Film is an art, and these are the works of the masters. Film is everlasting...I have always loved it, and I always will.
I'm disappointed that neither Fight Club, Requiem For a Dream, City of God, or Good Will Hunting made the cut. I think those should be at the top of the list. it's kind of gay that like over half the movies they put on here are gay 1950's movies that I've never scene. They should make a '1960 - Present Time' one next.

I can see that this list was made by a film school school student failing to pass a test. It's filled with out of order classics, a few recent blockbusters, and some old obscure stuff to try and make it seem intelligent. I love The Graduate, but is it really better than Apocalypse Now or On the Waterfront.
Apocalypse Now and Chinatown should be at 10s! and The Shawshank Redemption should be closer! And Goodfellas at the 90s? it should be at the 20s, as wwell as Saving Private Ryan! And The Exorcist isnt even here!
singin' in the rain was not THAT good. i think lawrence of arabia, gone with the wind, schindler's list, and vertigo are better films. and they really need to adjust pulp fiction.
@jowoltma Not that I want to defend AFI, they're a bunch of idiots, but that could be because they consider Star Wars and E.T. better movies, but 2001 to be a better movie in the genre of sci-fi. Sort of like how Saving Private Ryan is a better war film than Gone With The Wind.

i knew which would be the top 2 before i even began watching the video......citizen kane and the godfather, the two most overrated films in history!!!! it´s just that simple
Toy Story is there for the same reason as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Citizen Kane, and hell, probably a good majority of the films on this list. They were revolutionary for their time. Now, it seems that anyone can make a CGI film (not necessarily well, however), but at the time, this was a brand new technique, and Toy Story is recognized as the beginning of this animation movement.
@KilldozerRocks No, I'm not. Pulp Fiction is a brilliant movie, but it's terribly overrated too. Where would Quentin be without Martin Scorsese and Sergio Leone? Nowhere.
This list is awful. The original AFI 100 movies (this one is the 10th anniversary edition), was really, really accurate and good. This one has glaring errors. I mean come on, "Raging Bull" at #4? It was a very, very good movie, but not THAT good.
For maybe Disney but not for all over the industry. If you can prove to me that The Godfather should take a back sit to lets say shawshank redemption you let me know.
These are certainly the best examples of film. Film is an art, and these are the works of the masters. Film is everlasting...I have always loved it, and I always will.

@bellotti8101 I no right? Like why doesn't they just have movies made in the last week? Who wants to watch all those boring old people movies?

Because everyone was riding the Titanic-hate bandwagon for 10 years. Now, Titanic is making a comeback, I think.
Personally, I think #83 is outrageously low for Titanic.

wow AFI put Silence of the Lambs and The Sixth Sense in the top 100 films of the year? I wonder why The Exorcist isn't on this list.

Well a list is a list is... a list. It has no value at all, it's just an opinion. Having said that, some great movies here. You really like cinema.

That is one goofy list. Did I miss it - or is Gone with the WInd not even mentioned?
And Pulp Fiction? Good as Raging Bull was, top 100? Everyone involved with Clockwork Orange said they were disappointed with the screenplay.
Well, if they're going use the dartboard methods - let me toss a few darts for the top 100:
Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
My Fair Lady, Audrey Hepburn
Miracle on 34th Street
The Thing, Howard Hawkes dir.
Brian's Song
Dr. No
And so on

How is it that Star Wars and E.T. are closer to No.1 then 2001, and yet A.F.I. consider 2001 the greatest sci-fi movie of All-Time ?
