They were going to make a Magneto Origin movie but it was canned because they felt the digital facial lifts and the make-up required to make the original actor look younger would be too costly and wouldn't look right. Instead writers developed the script for First Class which did a pretty good job for explaining things. Honestly if they had made a Magneto Origins it probably would have ended up just as bad as Wolverine...

When you think about it, Magneto is the personification of Israel. A person who has been done wrong by humans but has turned into the exact symbol of genocide that he sought to prevent. His cause is right, his belief is just, and no one can blame him for his emotion and he has good reason to protect his people. But by killing excessive amounts of humans instead of taking care of the real problem, the fear between the two (Israelis v Palestinians) he continues the historical cycle of violence.

@AlluringDirector it only works out that way because your forcing it to fit. Jews were persecuted in Germany, they left and went to Palestine and persecuted an unrelated party. Magneto and mutants on a grand scale are persecuted by humans, Magneto and his brotherhood isn't turning around and attacking and persecuting a 3rd party their exacting vengeance on the group of people responsible for putting them through hell.
