@dofty To adjust the carrier point or the bandwidth? I used this radio on PMR and it was fine, not any single issue. Was set on frequency, all was fine. Maybe there is some issue with your radio as many use this and always clear etc. 6.25khz step to be bang on freq is ok,, and audio settings am not sure how to help you more
@simonthewizard In the menu there is an option of WIDE or NARROW. Wide is 25kHz bandwidth and narrow is 12.5kHz. PMR446 use 6.25kHz. I sound ok on 3 different scanners, but on my Cobra MT600 set I'm heavily distorted. I sound perfectly fine on 2m/70cm.
Just ordered mine today from Marsh & sons ltd Surrey. Starting my foundation licence on Sept 3rd for hopefully a pass in oct. Am told it's a Great first time amateur radio purchase I bought the programming software also. Radio + Software + delivery £120
I am new to the hobby. I bought the radio because it was recommended by a friend that is an amateur radio operator. The radio offer a lot for the Money, but the owners manual is terrible, practically useless. Whoever wrote the manual lacks command of the English language and has no clue on how to write and illustrate a technical manual. I dont want to offend anyone, but I guess is a typical Chinese tech manual. Or Maybe is because English is not my native.
@gotdemagot Exactly true indeed it is almost a direct translation from Chinese. Best advice, buy the data cable and software as makes the whole issue of usage and programming that much easier...

Hi Simon, good vid. apparently they' re pronounced " Oh - Shin" (from a chinese speaking friend who read the chinese on the site) apparently it means "European Communications" . 73
Thanks for that news, never knew it at all. There will be another version of this soon from MAAS that will be 100% CE Approved where this one is a little hit and miss so those in the know are saying. 73s Simon
Hi, really nice to see you again :o) I'd maybe go for the UVD1p as its newer, sure has also some software issues but newer design and extra features more than the 689. Read you soon
Thank you for this little review. I was out to by a used FT60 from Yaesu or this new (90€ plus VAT) shipped from Spain.
I was waiting for a good deal on the Yaesu and after a 3 months waiting It finally came.
For sure I would have bought this new Wouxun instead if I could not get my hands on a FT60. The guy who should me his FT60 was selling because he had bought him self a KG-UVD1 (not P)...but has far as I know, the FT60 can, unlocked, listen to wider band.
Thanks for the comment and am happy that you got my message via the email. The FT60 works well, just this one has the added addition of the 6.25mhz step for the PMR. Greetings to Portugal. Simon
Yes Fez, its out now and this one has DTMF. Price, its between 110-150euro here depending on which store it comes from, and around 80e from ebay and china direct. Nice to read you :)
Is it possible to change bandwidth to 6.25 kHz? Listening on a PMR446 radio I'm unintelligible using the Wouxun.

@dofty YES POSSIBLE IN THE MENU THEN STEP

@simonthewizard Yeah, but i meant the bandwidth of the FM carrier. But i don't think it's possible to change it though.
