I am in the hospital currently recovering from a vats surgery. I was on my 3rd pnuemothorax so I had to have it done. This surgery isn't very risky, but I will say the first 12 to 24 hours after the surgery are extremely painful. I was on 3 differrent pain meds and they did nothing. Now it's been 4 days since the surgery and i think most of my pain currently is from the chest tube. If your planning this surgery make sure you have good nurses on hand and request ahead for the strongest meds.
