When is Fedor's next fight I know Trilogy got canceled But he has three fights left in his contract.When ever someone finds out his next fight Id highly appreciate it.
I guess mixed martial arts fans all of the sudden are Sambo Lovers. Do we get Russian television now? Why dont we just bag MMA and start watching Karate tournaments. Oh wait that was the 80s and those one dimensional styles have proven to suck ass that is why MMA was developed. Fedor wont even talk to Dana. If I was the best Football player in the world? I think it is not about MMA vs Sambo. It is just that if someone reaches a level of being a word class athlete in ***any*** sport (martial arts, figure skating or chess), it is to be admired and respected, and to deny the right to compete in the sport is cruel. MMA is not exactly a sport yet, it is more of a skill testing arena.
dana wants entertainment but you forget that the best fighters in UFC came from sport, almost all of them. and guess what, they do not stay the champs forever! but Fedor does and sport helps. to not realize that is simply to not care about him and wanting him to loose. i want him to succeed, because in the end it is about a man's spirit, not some stupid fight in the cage. in it all the head.

There were 3 issues: 1) UFC reserved the right to cut down his payment if they are not satisfied with his performance (regardless whether if would win or loss); 2) Fedor could not leave UFC ***ever*** as long as he is the champ; 3) Fedor could not compete ***anywhere*** else but in UFC (including not only M1, etc but sport sambo/judo championships).

Very unlikely. American fans thinks MMA = UFC and Zuffa has done a great job in facilitating that. I'm not saying a company can't take over, but to say it's "easy" is ludicrous. You can't just spend shit tons of money and pay fighters ridiculous amounts to try and take over the UFC in a year. It'll take a great business model and starting small, working your way up for MANY, MANY years to make that happen.
Also, while they have flaws, I believe they treat fans very well. Free cards on Spike, constant stream of PPVs (that you can go to a sports bar and watch for free), top tier fighters. For every one fan that hates the UFC, there are 15 more that will watch every event without fail.

WQord is Showtime, who was handling the ppv pulled out after the Barnett debacle. Without it being on ppv Affliction stood to lose even more money than they already were going to., Regardless it sucks for all the other fighters who were scheduled to fight.
That's the most important thing of note.....it sucks for all the fighters who need fights to survive. I guess Affliction is offering them T-shirt contracts to try and compensate.

the interesting thing with Barnett is that he was not suspened after his failure just not given a fighters license in the state of California so Affliction tecnically could of moved this event to another state. Interms of opponets the best draws which this company need were either Tank Abott and Bobby Lashley as they are names who will sell tickets and with Lashley there is a whole new fanbase there to see him fight Fedor.
They didn't have nearly enough time to secure a new venue and properly promote it. Also they would lose all respect for continuing to let Barnett fight elsewhere, not to mention he'd still have difficulties getting licensed.
they easily could of moved the show to Alabama where there is no commission at all the venue may have been tricky but they could have got one the same way the UFC got one when they had to move a show out of NY its short notice but still could be done. Thanks for the sub. I have been watching pro wrestling since I was 5 and have no problem with Lesnar in that regard. A lot of people forget that MMA origins come from shoot wrestling in Japan, which stemmed from pro wrestling. I don't think he's bad for the sport, in fact, he brings in a lot of new viewers. Aside from that, he's an incredible athlete and very competitive. He should tone down the heel promos though, hahah.

Yeah, but where boxing went wrong was all the different orgs and belts. It gets confusing when there are 4 different welterweight champions. I wasn't trying to compare them 8 ways, just 1. One large organization, many smaller ones. Obviously there are 897 differences between team sports and combat sports..that wasn't what I was saying.

True. Boxing is crappy because of this. That's what I've been saying for a long time. Those rookies who talk about "competing" companies and "monopoly is bad", don't even know how things work and should work in MMA. Or they say it because they think it is cool to hate UFC and I'm sure they wouldn't mind if Affliction "monopolized" this sport! Well, hypocrisy is nothing new. Why keep whining when smaller organizations will always exist? The perspective is bright. This is the way it should be.

i really feel sorry for the fighters that trained their freaking ass off to be on the card and now its canceled and they'll probably have to wait a couple of months before getting paid but to be serious i expected this bcause when strikeforce got the showtime deal it was obvious that afliction just didnt have enough talent to compete with da ufc or any other MMA promotion.
By the way what do u think is gonna happen to da WAMMA belts.

WAMMA is a good idea in theory, but a joke in execution. Pat Miletich left, and people in general don't really care/know about WAMMA. So, maybe melt them down and see if you can get some money back?

I feel that Fedor has nothing to prove to anyone. He's run his division his entire career, in a time where the HW division was the deepest in talent. He's rich as fuck. I say take another couple fights in Japan and retire.
ps. Just read on 5oz. Pain that Affliction has shut down the MMA promotion for good and will sponsor UFC.

Yeah, he doesn't have anything to prove. I'm selfish and want him in the UFC though to fight the best heavyweight roster in MMA. I don't care what anybody says, it's the deepest....and yes, I put a note up that Affliction will be a new UFC sponsor.

WQord is Showtime, who was handling the ppv pulled out after the Barnett debacle. Without it being on ppv Affliction stood to lose even more money than they already were going to., Regardless it sucks for all the other fighters who were scheduled to fight.

Yeah it's unfortunate that Affliction got cancelled. I thought its an awesome card, I mean you got Babalu, Mousasi, Hominick, Horidecki... It's a pretty solid card.
I'd rather see Fedor vs Brett Rogers than having to see Fedor vs Belfort. Belfort is moving 2 weight classes up to fight Fedor... the last time someone did that against Fedor he got his ass subbed (Matt Lindland).
I think it's time for Fedor to fight in DREAM... or K1..

the interesting thing with Barnett is that he was not suspened after his failure just not given a fighters license in the state of California so Affliction tecnically could of moved this event to another state. Interms of opponets the best draws which this company need were either Tank Abott and Bobby Lashley as they are names who will sell tickets and with Lashley there is a whole new fanbase there to see him fight Fedor.

They didn't have nearly enough time to secure a new venue and properly promote it. Also they would lose all respect for continuing to let Barnett fight elsewhere, not to mention he'd still have difficulties getting licensed.

they easily could of moved the show to Alabama where there is no commission at all the venue may have been tricky but they could have got one the same way the UFC got one when they had to move a show out of NY its short notice but still could be done. If the fight was in Alabama no problems would be there in getting him a license

They could have, but that's just shady business. Barnett would have been even more screwed than he already is, as Antonio Silva fought OUTSIDE the US and still got fucked by the CSAC. If he fought in a different state after being suspended, that's just shitty for everyone involved and taints the whole fight. The whole thing wreaks of amateur promoting.

ya well the thing with Bigfoot Silva is the fact that he had a licenese and was dumb enough to fight for Sengoku. Barnett's license had expired and was getting another one and had failed. I still think he could of gotten a fighters license in another non heavy commision state. With the ameateur promoting Affliction has always been amaturely promoted from over paying everyone for their first show and getting Megadeath really this company never had a chance

well i guess you could of seen that coming since they wanted Brett Rogers so bad but Showtime/Strikeforce would not let that happen at all since he is going to be a star in MMA and got fed up with that nonsense and pulled out. With them pulling out a whole bunch of money went with them and Goldenboy was really never there for them. But the horrible promoting from show 1 led to this and plus the ran 2 shows and cancelled 2 not good for a company trying to compete with the UFC

Looking on the bright side, this must mean we are closer to Lesnar vs Fedor.

Thanks for the sub. I have been watching pro wrestling since I was 5 and have no problem with Lesnar in that regard. A lot of people forget that MMA origins come from shoot wrestling in Japan, which stemmed from pro wrestling. I don't think he's bad for the sport, in fact, he brings in a lot of new viewers. Aside from that, he's an incredible athlete and very competitive. He should tone down the heel promos though, hahah.
