hiii, i really admire u a lot, im egyptian but i really dont know how to make falafel. everytime when i make them it will be so oily and from inside its not even cook :( i hope this time my falafel will turn better than before, thank u so much
No I know what I did wrong last time... 'tinned' went totally wrong.. I used canned *as we call them here in the US* and mine just concentrated on me. Will try this way.. wish me luck!
Lol...We had the same encounter my mom and I when we were in Texas. We were craving falafel and we tried it with canned chickpeas. They basically disappeared in the oil. We salvaged it by adding some eggs but then it came out like mini omelettes. By the way, we come from Egypt and Egyptians always use only fava beans to make falafel. One more interesting fact, the word falafel is used throughout the Arab world but in Egypt, Cairenes call them "Tameya" while Alexandrians call them "falafel" :D
@TitliNihaan I made the falafel and mint dip today and it was wonderful! I put some falafel in the oven and cooked others in the pan with a bit of olive oil, and the ones I cooked in the pan were great! (the others were good as well, but a bit dry).
Titli!!!! I'm here in New York City with 5 friends during hurricane Irene and we're watching your videos and cooking falafel and hummus (while we have electricity) We love you and your videos!!! <3
Thank you! Excellent. Made it yesterday and they were gone in 5 minutes! I've tried your no bake cheesecake and pumpkin pie and they were also great. Now you've got my family thinking I can actually cook : )
Hayyyyy, WE ARE NOT full of *** whatever that was LOL ....and yes we are darn fine cooks....i personally cook for my family and none of them went to the emergency room..................... yet
:)
I love your videos.....and though this got nothing to do with falafel since you didn't use the main ingredient for falafel but i love it :)
@THB79 Yoghurt or chickpeas? The bulk density of dry chickpeas is about 0.8 g/ml therefore one cup of dried chickpeas = 0.8 x 250 = 200 g. The chickpeas in the video had been soaked for 24 hours and expanded, so they will be more than 1 cup.
@ZhaneTheGreat You can say that its a way of saying Hello, but for us muslims, its more like we pray for the person we greeted (forgive my bad english)..Assalamualaikum = peace be upon you...the other person must reply our greeting with Wa'alaikum mussalam = and peace be upon you (like we pray for each other peacefulnes)...from the definition you can see that actually Assalamualaikum can act both as a greeting and also a prayer.
i really enjoy your vids and i like watching them. there is only one request. recently alot of your vids have music in them which may make it inconvinient for ppl who avoid music. i wud really appreciate it if u wud make them without music :)
@whattheworldiscomin2 you can buy a muslim headphone that blocks out the music from any program you are watching that has music in it. it has a knob on the left earpiece that when turned shuts out the music; but there is a problem since i have been using i noticed that while adjusting the music knob my hand was touching the left earlobe as well. after a few days use of the headphones i got into the habit of touching my earlobes and i have caught myself touching my earlobes in public. be careful.
LOL I love the noises. So you hydrate your own Garbanzos? No comments on the cucumber besides the giggle? And you MUST get a proper cutting board, not that glass thing. Makes me cringe. Egyptian men are FOS. Gouda happens!
titli babe, i always make mine with tinned chickpeas, but i added besan (chickpea) flour as binder, and it does not disintegrate... you can try in your cooking lab.... good luck!
Great Job...hopefully that will work out well for me. Last time I tried making those by using pre-made mixture from market and the results were same as your attempt with canned chick-peas...I couldn't recover those.......now I'm confident that I can do it myself!! yeah!
It looks extremely awesome, but from the first scene (the ingredients) I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is Lebanese/Syrian Falafel, and not Egyptian Falafel (which is made from Fava beans as opposed to Chickpeas)... even though I'm Egyptian, I confess -when given a choice, I'd likely go for the former :) I can't say we cook "better" than our women, but I'll tell you that I cook better & my the same can be said for my brother-in-law. Last week an Egyptian friend also cooked us a feast
@KnightMD That said, I do enjoy the Egyptian version (Taamiya) but I can't always get the fava beans. I should have married an Egyptian, but then if I had I would probably never have started this channel!
Oh I'll be making these soon. I love Falafel but they do tend (in Denmark at least) to go stale and dry pretty quickly. But when they are fresh ooooh best treat ever :D
The falafel made from canned garbanzo beans (chick peas) because they were cooked in the canning process. The cooking breaks down the fiber so it does not hold together when fried.
@behlokful Not at all. The problem with leaving the seeds in is that you also leave a lot of water in the cucumber, which in turn can make your yoghurt dip very watery.
Its destiny, the day I decide to make falafel for the first time for my grandmother you post a video on how to make falafels. Guess ill make something else for tonight though cause I only have canned chick peas : O
i love all these interesting recipes titli, there really tasty, and i always look forward to new videos from you because usually they're new foods ive never seen before. in the north u.s. we eat a lot of casserole, not much else haha. that would be cool if you did a casserole on here too though! Any deep friend food ends up being delicious, but i love falafel, even though never thought to make it myself! Thanks for the recipe, I will definitely be trying this once my final exams are finished at the end of the month.
Titli I love you, here is a tip i heard, falafel shouldn't be round, you must make them flatter,to avoid the possibitlity of staying raw inside if they are round.
LoL. i made that mistake in the beginning of using canned chickpeas-and they all fell apart! Can't wait to try this recipe-your recipes never fail.....thank you!
One tip, don`t use glass or ceramic cutting boards, use wooden or plastic instead because glass is too hard and will make your knives blunt as yours clearly are. Also use a round thingy too sharpen your knives every times before you start cooking, or you can use the back of another knife with same effect. Hope it helps.
@piimpet4 LOL! The great thing about falafel is that it is one of those foods that has many variations and allows itself to be experimented on. I'm experimenting with an Indian version!

Hi Titli!!! I tried to make Falafel today .......
Remember when you told us to "NEVER use canned chick peas" ??
I used Fresh ones and soaked them in Water and then I COOKED THEM !!!!
and then, the whole mixture was so wet, that I added some BULGOUR AND COUSCOUS TO THAT..........
and then THEY JUST DISAPPEARED IN THE OIL.
*** CRY CRY CRY ****
Is it because I cooked the chick peas before??????????????
Or is it because I added Bulgour and Couscous?????
I did not add too much!!
Please help!!
