oh and btw... student loans, i think are available for internationals.. i go to northwestern university and tons of internationals are here basically for free on some sort of scholarship/grant/loan.
agreed.. her English is outstanding taking into consideration she wasn't raised in an english speaking country like japan.
Just keep at it lucy-san! i am younger than you are, still in college, but i plan on following my ambitions/dreams even if i have to live bellow my means. If you truly feel this strongly about journalism.. please keep at it.
Your English is very good. I understood you 100%. I've met some Japanese international students in Los Angeles that I can barely understand (I don't speak any Japanese). Maybe they are throwing away $100k?? Anyway, don't give up on your dream. Anything is possible. Don't be discouraged by obstacles. There are more than one path to every destination. Good luck!
Like some other people suggested, you should practice your journalism on youtube. Research a story and report on it. I'm sure many of your subscribers would be interested in what kind of local news you might have. Keep your chin up.
I bet 90% of the ppl in the planet doesn't do what they want to do! Im more like "does it makes money? yeah? fine let's do it!" just remember your dignity, respect anyone, but do what you can, dreams rarely become true, and if they don't: Fuck off!
U.S. universities are expensive for nothing. In Montreal there are good universities and it costs about 15,000$ per year for international students if you study full time. They are 3-year programs. Also, I think your English is very good Lucy. I don't hear you make any mistakes.
Lots of luck to you, it's a very hard field to break into. You sound like me twenty years ago lol Maybe try a Japanese grad school instead, and be a Japanese journalist? It would be a start, and America could come later.
Second: Paraphrasing something i once heard: Dreams are worth fighting for. Otherwise, you will spend your life fighting for someone else's dream.
Third: You will have some questions as to whether people are drawn to your talents or to some other aspect of yourself. Physical looks are irrelevant in a good journalist. (Not so true of a TV newsreader -- but those are not journalists.) My advice here is to identify for yourself a journalist whom you truly admire and can model yourself after.
Lucy-san: I would like to tell you two or three things. I hope they will be helpful to you.
First: You have a gift. It is that you can naturally draw people out of themselves and cause them to become interested in what you are talking about. Please don't feel offended if I confess I have no desire to "hang out" with you or anything else. But the odds are that I am interested in what you have to say. It is the same feeling I have about a good artist or musician.
Try to work on something you think is important. Don't be afraid to live a simpler life. We all need to eat, but it can cost less than $1000 for dinner. Work with people that use their resources for things you value....
Seek people that challenge you to be creative. Do your best to transcend barriers of age and place.
Discover your voice, and use it to inspire others.
You are blessed, don't squander your fortune. Don't waste time on jealousy, and be patient with the less fortunate.
I'll be praying for you to find your way. I know that a career that you love is very rewarding and makes you very happy in the long run. So keep pushing for that dream job. Persistence will pay off ^_^
Hi Lucy, you can do a Journalism Degree at Griffith University, Nathan, Australia. The Uni is in south Brisbane. The degree costs about $20,000 AUD per year (study fulltime for 3 yrs). I lived in Brisbane for 10 years, it is a great place, you will love the city. I will suggest that you consider a 'Communications Degree', which includes journalism and media studies.
don't worry lucy.you'll be ok :) I feel your pain, im in the same boat!. but it is never the end until the end. you're english is pretty good and you like radiohead so you're on the right path:). hope you're feeling happier! x
Hi Lucy. Just wanted to tell you a great thing I read recently. "Everyone is actually a CEO: you are the CEO of yourself, since you take decisions and are responsible for yourself"... This sentence makes you feel empowered and helps you to progress among the frustrations of life.
Even though school is $100,000, you can get scholarships that fulfill your financial reuirements as well as fafsa, student banking loans, stafford loan, PLUS loan, perkins student loan, student grants, etc. If you want it, it's right there! Of course you'll have to pay most of it back later on, but it's worth it! I know I'm glad I went back to school. :D ♥
Hi Lucy, Well if you want you have to take a chance. You have to go for your dreams and get in at the bottom and work up. Maybe you can start by reporting on line and maybe someone will see you, then want you work a a station or paper as a report. Keep your head up and you will get your dream. You are getting prettier everyday! ;) I can see you on TV. But you do have to work on English and I know that is hard to do but you can do it.
Good God, you have no idea how lucky you are. You should be thankful that you even have a job. And then you have to realize that you're young and just starting out, so you have to take things on the chin. Things will get better in time. Don't be so dramatic.
Only you have control of your life and only you can decide how to make your life the happiest it can be!! If you want to be a journalist then you should do what it takes to get there even if you have to take classes in Japan. But unless you do what it takes to get you where you want to go you will always be unhappy cause that part will be missing.
You could try gaining a little experience with independent media outlets or online news sites. I am sure there will be plenty of places where you can gain experience without paying out for extra schooling.
Goodluck though :) you should always do what makes you happy.
I think going to school to become a journalist is a waste of time. I remember reading an article by a journalist that said so. If you search online for advice and resources, I'm sure you can figure out a way to break into some kind of journalism without spending a fortune on school.
Hi Lucy. If you are aiming for something then keep building your skills, experience and passion in that area. Trust in the universe, take opportunities and use your free time and main energy to follow your passion. Patience and passion.
I don't know how you spend your frre time. Is it building your skills and experience in the area you want to go in? If not then I imagine you are feeling helpless and lost.
You speak English better than whenever I try to speak any foreign language. Some people get mad at me for speaking Japanese, when it kinda sucks (Isn't that how we all learn?). I am not saying you would, but I just wanted to point that out. Who knows what some people may say if I go to Japan? I only get time to study Japanese over the summer, and it really isn't that much I learn.
We stayed through the earthquake in Japan. I made a video recently to dedicate to the people who needed some thoughts. There was no reason to leave Japan. I mean Japan is one of the most advanced industrialized nations in the world. Any problem can be solved just do the point.
Lucy never let go of your direction, dreams. Follow one little step at a time.
there is no reason to pay for school. you can learn anything you want for free. people share information for free because others will share back, and everyone benefits. there is no point getting degree after degree spending huge amounts of money on education to get piece of paper to compete with others doing the same. it is a huge waste of human effort imo. try and see what others are doing on YT and the internet. they don't make the same money, but maybe they will later. the times are changing
I truly think that you are right. There is no reason to pay for more school after graduated. What i am doing right now(Advertisment) is not what i expected back in school(Industrial design). But much much fun because it gives me a lot of different view to what I originally like to do.
This helps me to be a better designer. Because now I can see other designers can`t see.
@jypaik in the world of fantasy you will have something like that lol. otherwise its pointless to think that a multi-billion dollar industries shut for the idea of "Sharing Information" since they can quite easily BUY it -,-. plus getting education is in no way a waste of time... i know professors who have 2 and 3 degrees and still working on other ones. and when you talk to them it shows. their resume shows... every thing shows...
I am amazed that YOU were able to hold out even right now. You stay strong everyday and continue to make efforts to make changes on your current life situation despite your feelings of doubt. I give you credit and hope on your strength and courage.
you poor thing...you are sooo young...cheer up!! :> just think about how your life changed during your last 10 years...changes happen so fast and sometimes so unexpectedly...dont worry about things you dont know, about uncertainty,& enjoy your youth & beauty, ladyyyyy!!! hehe...i was in tokyo marathon, that's how i got to see your video...& cos im in same stage than you i saw the whole thing...do plans short time,& dont think about future.it will come to you anyway. ;> & good luck!!:> and smile!

Does the International University of Japan have a journalism program? Or mabye one of the other colleges with English instruction might have a journalism program. Then you can try to improve your English and work toward yor goal of becoming a journalist.
It sounds like your heart still longs to be in journalism. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. Maybe if you can't get your job the conventional way, there is another route that will eventually lead you there. Maybe getting a job that pays less but opens the door to an opportunity. Perhaps related to New Media Journalism. Take care.
If you feel a calling in a particular direction, I would say do what you can to try to make it happen. Take "the next good step" in that direction. I think we tend to regret more the risks we didn't take more than the mistakes we made as we look back on our lives. However, even more important that what you do is who you are. You can be the best person you can be wherever you are.
It's funny you say that because I am exactly in that situation.
I'm a total social outcast. Apart from the necessities like college, jobs and stores etc. I haven't talked to anyone in years. I have nobody except my parents. And yes, this used to put me in pain in the past and sometimes I still wish I had someone, but I realized that a lot of people live that kind of life.
It's just the way we built this crazy society with segregation and apathy.
Well, my parents used to be abusive too (alcoholic dad) so I know how it feels. Sorry about that mate. Secondly I get your point, but I can't relate to it. You know, my life is a lot worse than hers, but I learned to be happy with very simple things. We humans have long lost the touch to the essence of life. We waste our time with the obscurities of society and torture ourselves.
You will die anyway, so just be happy for the time you can spend as the person that you are.
I'm just saying that these so called "problems" we have are pathetic.
Just today I've seen people who have to eat dirt in order to survive and another video of a guy who randomly walks into a subway station and all of a sudden a bunch of kids run up to him and brutally kill him.
I used to be very depressive until I came in contact with LSD and stuff. I learned a lot about myself and life in general. We all should be happy because we're blessed
If Yuki wants to complain about job, I will always listen.
By the way, just for what it is worth, I saw this story about a woman who travels around the globe in an ocean kayak. It is all she owns. She has no home. Moral of story is, no find happiness in job. Seek elsewhere.
We want nothing more than for you to be happy. Please, if not for yourself, then do it for us. We all love you so much, and it hurts us to see you unhappy.
Just think of how much happier you'll be when you're finally in that job you've always wanted.
Remember, the only opinion that matters is your own! Do what you believe, and don't take what others say too seriously! You ultimately have to decide what's best for yourself.
Just watched your video :). You feel very similar to me not so long ago. I spend three years at the job I didn't like. It was really stressful and annoying at times. The only thing that kept me partially ok that there were some interesting and good co-workers. I changed job several months ago and it was really refreshing. I think it is important to have a job you like. So just don't give up and I wish you success. It is never to late to try.
Getting the attention of all those lonely guys. ;)
I think you should realize what "life" means and not desperately try to force some meaning into it, because SURPRISE... there is none.
Life is just a random chain of chemical reactions and energy shifting. Just enjoy the ride and see where it leads you. Always keep in mind there are people with REAL problems. Emotional pain is hard, but it will only last until you die. So make use of the time you have left
That is a shame you gave up making YouTube videos. You were building quite a following at a time when very few people were using the technology to broadcast.
I'm basically where you are right now, so believe me when I say I know what you're feeling. We just need to keep telling ourselves not to give up. Keep looking at our dream, don't settle. Do what you need to help get there, but don't settle.
Hello lucy, I seriously think that your English is pretty good. and you getting older?? You look very young..and finally just one last thing - "Don't let your Dreams go away"
Life is very short so, just RUN AFTER your DREAMS...All the best to you !!
I know how you feel but at least you now know what makes you happy. I'm so lost i don't know what i want to do in life yet and just seems like time is just flying by.Good Luck!!!!!!!
You can speak English well. Always be positive. Also, I am not a strong believer in college. It will only help you get a job. You do most of your learning at your job since so many different places require different things. Unless you can get into a top 10 school in journalism, you should probably try to find a job instead. It may be hard but finding a job with a degree is also hard. Good luck!
Oh, you seem hurt, somehow, at moments in this video. (Next) And you went to university to become salesperson? Well, there are some things about your English that could improve. But it's so cute the way you say certain things. You're so pretty in this video. Well, in USA, we have a pioneering spirit. For example, I can quit a job and learn to be an artist. Someone may not like it, but it is my life. I get to choose. And better poor and happy than rich and miserable.
@AmazGraz Marry an American! Then you can get your schooling for less. I would offer but..... {;*) (Sigh!) And gosh, choose carefully when that happens, princess!
I know it's not really Japanese style to feel the things you want to do is more important than your job, but I'm glad that you do. I hope you find a way to get into journalism and study abroad. I wish I could help. If I find any information, I will let you know. がんばってね。
I subscribed to your channel a couple years ago, your videos were quite interesting and well put together. I noticed that I wasn't the only one who felt this way. After a while you disappeared for a few years (to work) but you obviously had a gift that made people want to listen to you. At the time of this post you already have over 6 million views and over 15,000 subscribers. There have been quite a few youtubers who have made it a career, maybe you can consider it =) good luck
Youtube is a kind of journalism. And you have followers and fans. And you were born in a good time, and a bad time. That said, I had a sense that you might reconsider and want to do journalism. Oh, and your English is awesome. If you can improve on it, that'll be overboard n good way. And don't give up. Find a way. Oh, you are so pretty in this. And I love you. Yeah! I mean as friend, or supporter. And I know I am not alone. And I know why {:) You could just immigrate to US. Thanks. Special luv
I feel like we should set up some sort of collection fund for your education. I would gladly give some money so that you could study journalism. I doubt we could pay for all of it, but every bit helps.
hope you feel betta soon we all get to this point where we dont know what to do as im going throw it as well hope we both end up doing something we enjoy
you want to get into the U.S.? Just catch a pane to Mexico for vacation, and then cross the boarder , and the govt. will throw all kinds of social service programs at you to pay for everything. Can even get in resident state college price. Will you be my girlfriend? lol

Lucy, recognize that many people have the same frustrations with their jobs that you are experiencing. So you are not alone. You feel the way you do because you currently do not have a job that uses your talents to the best of your ability. But, that does not mean that you will have to do that job forever. Recognize that your current job is just a “stepping stone”. It is preparing you for your future journalism job. How is that possible? (more on next post)
Without reading all the replies, what I wanted to say is I enjoy your videos and actually your English has improved a lot. The only way you will really be able to speak like an American is to hang out with Americans. But from what I can see in your latest video, you have a good grasp and understanding of the language. You don't just say the words, you understand why you use them so you are well on your way there. Good luck on your dreams. I will keep following you along. Take care.
You only live once. Please do not live a life of regret, for yourself and for all your fans. If you go to journalism school, you are at least making a step in the right direction toward your dreams. At least the USD-JPY exchange rate is very favorable for you right now!
Thank you very much for all the thoughtful comments. It's a real shame that I have don't anything, and just complaining about my job. I really should start something, anything, and will see how it goes. Really, all of your advices are grateful to me... ;)
really anyway we could donate to help Lucy....if each of us fans donated 10 bucks you could do it=)....83k. Of course we would hope that you dont stop with your vids=). just a idea. Oh I did donate for the earthquake relief.
Dear Lucy. If you are true to yourself you must follow your passion in anyway you can. You must be ruthless with yourself. It is your passion which is the spirit of your heart and through this your life. If you suppress your spirit the light in your heart will die. I see in your eyes when you spoke of going out to the area where the story is, they brightened up like a new morning sun. Follow your heart.. acknowledge the turmoil in your head but the heart is the only true voice. xox
@Lucymisser I forgot to say in my previous reply... the best school is the school of life..so write, read and write...never stop. Submit to magazines and ask for commissions! Here papers will not accept random stories from unknown sources BUT they will commission people to do articles. Be an independent writer and free lance. Use you job as a source of support for your passion. see it as that and only that. A means to a way? xox
@Lucymisser Look cuty =) your doing great, your still young!!! you have years and years ahead of you =D i don't know how the educational system works in japan. like does it go by semesters where u chose a number of classes and so on? or does it work in yearly bases where u take pre-set classes ? many people i know have more than one degree for the simple reason that they wanted it. in any case I wish you best of luck lady! and hope u do find a way :)
-Some people are predicting that the college tuition bubble in the US will be bursting this year, so costs may drop.
-I don't know how much free time you have, but it would seem to me that the most accessible route to getting your feet wet in journalism these days would be to start a website and start reporting on something yourself.
I am not allowed to paste the link here, but please take a look at this video on YouTube: "Randy Pausch Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams"
i think you have a great chance for changing deeply your life and to give a sense to it: go to give an help to people in north Japan. Then you can marry a rich yankee, who can pay 100.000 USD for two years and also some more dollars for a suite in Park Avenue. There's a great gap between narcisistic self shots and journalism. But maybe Vanity Fair could offer a chance to you, after an half dozen years. Charming but so egomaniac, my dear. A respectful thought for reporters killed in a dirty war.
I have always been wishing you the best since way back when I first started watching you videos. The only advice I would like to give you is, if that is what you like, do it, period. Forget what ANYONE else thinks or tells you. Not enough people do what they really love, and end up wasting away their life. Push forward and do what you need to do. And as "jsmfyneartz" said, networking will be key besides education. Do you best, and we are all here for you!
I ran out of space in my last post...your biggest resource is networking. You reach thousands on Youtube, but you must also meet many people in positions of power through your work. Including the journalists that you mention. Let everyone know your goals. Keep pushing until you get what you want, take every opportunity that leads you there, no matter how small. I am very impressed how you look in this clip, very mature and professional. Have confidence in yourself and the world will follow.
Well, Yuuki, maybe if you are persistent you can get a job in journalism and report on the story of the demographic catastrophe that Japan is going through because beautiful, intelligent women like Yuuki are going into careers instead of becoming wives and mothers!
Start a journalism website where you can post your own stories and videos. I just bought a website for $12 per year and the layout will cost from $9 to $15 per month. I got it from GoDaddy. You can do anything you want.
I appreciate your action in unveiling the truth & offhanded news after the earthquake, actually the nuclear radiation has already affected Tokyo, and the ejection of byproduct nuclear fuel waste exactly created a doom seed for our next generation, I will encourage to Japan all citizens to face it strong instead of dispute the way your government should or shouldn't do...Be confident miss, your voice rather insensitive to be recorded by microphone...Hope you safe and be positive^^
My cousin is an international student studying journalism at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. It's a fairly well recognised university globally and his fees are only $22,500/year, which I think is a lot more reasonable than the US. The course structure is fairly flexible so he works part-time to cover his fees.
It sounds like you've taken the time to plan for the future so I'm sure you'll do fine.
I don't typically comment on videos anymore, but this was really inspirational on so many levels. It's beautiful to see you rediscover your dream and follow it, especially when you have so much faith in that everything will be okay. I wish you the best of luck!
Also, I mean I'm sure there are financial aid programs, or something. And you can always get education loans, but I'm sure you've already looked at those.
SirReptitious already did the math. You have 15'000 subscribers. Would it be somehow immoral to ask your subscribers to donate? I will give you $100, seriously. If only 1/15 of your subscribers will do the same, your graduate school in USA is paid.
thanks for the update. i can see you really look sad about whats going on with your career, but dont worry. you have a great personallity and at some point somebody is bound to give you a break. dont give up!!!
50k a year!? Crap I guess I need to stop complaining about the 1,000,000 yen I pay for school here.
I can relate a lot to what you`re going through. I taught English for two and a half years, but then figured out that that is not what I came to Japan for and I ended up quitting my job and enrolled in school to study game design.
a little over two years later and Im now just starting 就職活動. Still no garantee that I`ll get a job, but I think it was worth it to chase after my dreams.
I don't think you need to study English, you just need to refine what you know through conversation. When it comes to learning a language there's only so much you can learn from classes. If you want to improve your accent, become more comfortable, and learn to speak faster you can only do that trough conversation. But for someone who lives in Asia your English is really good, so you should feel very hopeful.
The world is your oyster. Your beauty, intelligence and artistic creativity will open many doors for you. With passion your dreams will be achieved. So you must be proactive.
Well you definitely know what will make you happy. Talk to an advisor at your old school or something, or even see if you can talk to someone in the industry. Ask about a practical way of getting into the industry with your current knowledge.
Hey, a lot of us know the feeling. It's pretty hard to get into a good job you like nowadays. But I am sure you can do it, especially now that you have some experience, and you have your old education. :)
Your spoken English is quite good, better than 90% of Japanese I think.
If you want to go into journalism, maybe consider internships or informal ways to participate/volunteering. You don;t necessarily need a degree. Also, why don't you take some community college or technical college courses ?
Maybe you just need a fast AND cheap way to get practical training. Also, what about colleges in Japan? I'm sure it is high quality education too.
I myself have a journalism degree but currently work in retail to pay the bills. While I'm good at my job I want to work on the field. I have covered events & I loved it, unfortunately the current job market is bleak for journalists.
Ok, Lucy, let me give you some perspective here. I just graduated from law school after hating my life in publishing. I am 39 years old now, which means I decided to go back to school at 35, so don't worry about the age. It also means that I am having a major career change at 40...there are advantages to entering a field a little later. As for the money of school...I am in debt now for $190,000. But if it's what you want to do, you will find success; and you will hate life until you do it.
the world is tough on dreamers, but as long as you look outside yourself for happyness you will not find it, neither money or your job are important, the only thing that mattes is what makes YOU happy, you have a big heart and a innoscent spirit that is imprisoned by society, look inside, know yourself and do not waste a minute longer selling your spirit to mindless pursuits, countless dreamers know this emptness, look up existential crisis, philosophers have described this struggle of heart
Thank you for giving us an update on you life. I'm going through a similar point in which I'm at the crossroads of where I want to take my life, so I kind of understand how you feel. Once you find what you are meant for in this life, make goals, be strong, and never give up. I know I will be doing exactly that.
Glad you made another video. I can understand how you feel, but sometimes we just have to do what we are able to do or can afford to do. Sweetheart your English is perfect !!! Glad to know your o.k, and glad you liked the music webpage too. someone else had shared that with me. Take care and Ganbare !!!
For those of you still feeling generous please veiw and subscribe *partner4japan*. Please help thousands of homeless familys in northern japan by simply veiwing this channels content
It was exciting because this is your dream. I'm just so happy and grateful that you are safe. Be strong and follow your heart. San Diego state has a fine journalism course. And I can help with your english!
Your just in this big ass cornfield having trouble finding your bearings but from a lot of our vantage points you will find your way. You have the tools (including decent english) now go and use them and get what you want. Be that beautiful, vibrant woman I watched on some of your first vids.
I subscribed to you a while ago because I was struck by your intelligence, passion, beauty and zest for life. To see you like this...sorta deflated, makes me a bit sad. Everyone here commenting are saying the right things to console you but what it comes down is this. With great things comes great sacrifice. Don't give up and when people tell you "no" turn it into the thing that drives you closer to your dream. And lastly put yourself close to the people and places you want to be.
So I read that there were some very old stones set up that said something about not building below them due to the dangers and that they were set along the coasts and that many had forgotten about them. That amazes me did u know anything about those Lucymisser?
Hey! I have advice. In Canada, you can get the same education in journalism, maybe better education, but for sooooo much less. In the US college/university in unnecessarily expensive. There are better schools, not nearly as expensive. I don't know about international student fees, but my friends taking journalism in Alberta in Canada don't pay more than $5000 a year at most. And its THE SAME education. I suggest looking into schools in Canada. You can achieve your dream for much less money.
I will be going into the Journalism field in college and have been looking at some colleges. There are some cheaper ones so don't think you need to get 100,000 dollars to get into a good US journalism college.
If you want me to recommend some colleges to you then just private message me.
Please keep your head up because life is not an easy thing but there are ways to get through it, you just have to find the right place that works for you.
You should try to do a short weekly video to update everyone overseas with the progress of the aftermath of the earthquake. Most stations here don't really broadcast anything about it right now, so hearing something would probably attract a lot of attention and make a big name for yourself. Also, if you become popular, YouTube might ask you to join the partnership program and you can make money from Google. Unless you're really famous, it's not a lot, but at least you'll be doing what you love.
Don't give up on your dreams! Yes, youth is fleeting but you are still very young. You may do better in another country though as Japan is too age biased especially with women. I'm sure a western country would love to have you as a foreign correspondent.
You're just an amazing person. I wish I were rich so I could give you the money you need. I would do it in a heartbeat. It's nice to see a new vlog from you by the way. I've missed you. Much love. :)
Practice, practice, practice. You almost have to be ignorant, at times, of a lot of things so that you can focus on your ultimate goal which is to be a journalist. Don't worry about what anyone thinks. If you have impediments, practice some more. I've been in your position where I worked in a job where I felt soul-less. Just keep a laser-focus on what you want and nothing else will slow you down. Like hassmann2000 said, build your personal portfolio. You don't need a big education to begin!
Hope things get better for you Lucy, some kind words that you say seems so familiar for me and many people for sure. Keep it going to reach your goals dont surrender, you will do it. Best wishes, hope to see any update soon. Big hugs from Peru.
I feel the same way, Yuuki. I have been working at a part time job for which I am very overqualified. I wanted to become a web designer but I went to school for art history instead. I tried to get a job but I feel like no one will want to hire me anyway because I lack experience. I feel just like you, but I guess your video makes me glad I'm not alone. Ganbatte~
Thank you for the update and glad to see you are OK. I know it may seem hard to fulfill your goals right now but there is always a way. I often feel the same as you and it makes me freeze up thinking I'm never going to make it but you just have to look for the right opportunities and try your best. You are a very sweet and intelligent girl and I'm sure you will be able to do anything you want to. Good luck in all that you do and I hope you become a success :)
Hello Lucy.
Today I just randomly decided to check and see if you had uploaded any new videos and to my surprise I saw that you are actively youtubing again!
I enjoy your thoughtful, honest contributions.
I have faith in you that you'll find a future and career that you enjoy and are content with.

Why not Switzerland? Tuition fees are low!

U.S. universities are expensive for nothing. In Montreal there are good universities and it costs about 15,000$ per year for international students if you study full time. They are 3-year programs. Also, I think your English is very good Lucy. I don't hear you make any mistakes.

It is the same feeling I have about a good artist or musician.
yabits 6 months ago
Try to work on something you think is important. Don't be afraid to live a simpler life. We all need to eat, but it can cost less than $1000 for dinner. Work with people that use their resources for things you value....
Seek people that challenge you to be creative. Do your best to transcend barriers of age and place.
Discover your voice, and use it to inspire others.
You are blessed, don't squander your fortune. Don't waste time on jealousy, and be patient with the less fortunate.

Keep smiling.

Only you have control of your life and only you can decide how to make your life the happiest it can be!! If you want to be a journalist then you should do what it takes to get there even if you have to take classes in Japan. But unless you do what it takes to get you where you want to go you will always be unhappy cause that part will be missing.
SO I SAY GO FOR IT!!!!!!!
Good Luck!

You speak English better than whenever I try to speak any foreign language. Some people get mad at me for speaking Japanese, when it kinda sucks (Isn't that how we all learn?). I am not saying you would, but I just wanted to point that out. Who knows what some people may say if I go to Japan? I only get time to study Japanese over the summer, and it really isn't that much I learn.
guynamedjoe 9 months ago

@jypaik :
I truly think that you are right. There is no reason to pay for more school after graduated. What i am doing right now(Advertisment) is not what i expected back in school(Industrial design). But much much fun because it gives me a lot of different view to what I originally like to do.
This helps me to be a better designer. Because now I can see other designers can`t see.
david710106 8 months ago
@jypaik in the world of fantasy you will have something like that lol. otherwise its pointless to think that a multi-billion dollar industries shut for the idea of "Sharing Information" since they can quite easily BUY it -,-. plus getting education is in no way a waste of time... i know professors who have 2 and 3 degrees and still working on other ones. and when you talk to them it shows. their resume shows... every thing shows...

But that's life. Live it or not.

That's not what I ment.

A lesson we all have to learn :).

Life is just a random chain of chemical reactions and energy shifting. Just enjoy the ride and see where it leads you. Always keep in mind there are people with REAL problems. Emotional pain is hard, but it will only last until you die. So make use of the time you have left

Good luck!

Use you job as a source of support for your passion. see it as that and only that. A means to a way? xox

Couple of points:
-Some people are predicting that the college tuition bubble in the US will be bursting this year, so costs may drop.
-I don't know how much free time you have, but it would seem to me that the most accessible route to getting your feet wet in journalism these days would be to start a website and start reporting on something yourself.

i think you have a great chance for changing deeply your life and to give a sense to it: go to give an help to people in north Japan.

I am very impressed how you look in this clip, very mature and professional. Have confidence in yourself and the world will follow.

aljab123 10 months ago
Well, Yuuki, maybe if you are persistent you can get a job in journalism and report on the story of the demographic catastrophe that Japan is going through because beautiful, intelligent women like Yuuki are going into careers instead of becoming wives and mothers!
camdengreen 10 months ago

Good to know that Tokyo is okay. All the best.
Crius11 10 months ago
@Crius11 Most Japanese are wholly unaware that there are foreign countries other than the US. I agree, she should think about Australia.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

がんばって!

Fantastic dream Yuukie. You can do it. There are programs available that will help you with your masters degree I'm sure.

Have you looked into grants/ scholarship programs for international students?
Look into the Financial Aid sections of the graduate school websites.

I'm training to be an electrician. This is the only thing that keeps me scrubbing toilets.

Still no garantee that I`ll get a job, but I think it was worth it to chase after my dreams.
okamichamploo 10 months ago
I don't think you need to study English, you just need to refine what you know through conversation. When it comes to learning a language there's only so much you can learn from classes. If you want to improve your accent, become more comfortable, and learn to speak faster you can only do that trough conversation. But for someone who lives in Asia your English is really good, so you should feel very hopeful.
DanceRhythMIX 10 months ago
Where I work I see many tourist from Japan, VERY VERY few can say more than "thank you" and even that is very broken.
As others have said, you're English is quite good =)

You should look at UNSW in Australia ... still very expensive, though ... 80% of the students there are International (Mostly Chinese).
Oh, and check out the song "Follow Your Dream" from the anime film Project A-Ko.

Your beauty is increasing every year, at least I can tell this.
You will be fine soon.

TKnightcrawler 10 months ago
Your spoken English is quite good, better than 90% of Japanese I think.
If you want to go into journalism, maybe consider internships or informal ways to participate/volunteering. You don;t necessarily need a degree. Also, why don't you take some community college or technical college courses ?
Maybe you just need a fast AND cheap way to get practical training. Also, what about colleges in Japan? I'm sure it is high quality education too.
jaha111 10 months ago
Wow, I know the feeling Lucy.
I myself have a journalism degree but currently work in retail to pay the bills. While I'm good at my job I want to work on the field. I have covered events & I loved it, unfortunately the current job market is bleak for journalists.
Hope the best for you.
Rawkuz99 10 months ago

Your just in this big ass cornfield having trouble finding your bearings but from a lot of our vantage points you will find your way. You have the tools (including decent english) now go and use them and get what you want. Be that beautiful, vibrant woman I watched on some of your first vids.
bizelivin 10 months ago

D3mm0n 10 months ago
MandieLJ 10 months ago
I hope you will find your way. Good luck. ^^
modueca 10 months ago
I will be going into the Journalism field in college and have been looking at some colleges. There are some cheaper ones so don't think you need to get 100,000 dollars to get into a good US journalism college.
If you want me to recommend some colleges to you then just private message me.
Please keep your head up because life is not an easy thing but there are ways to get through it, you just have to find the right place that works for you.
Thanks for updating us and please be happy! ^_^

AonGuardian 10 months ago

Much love from the USA
