  • THis was my favorite one of ALL. Ah, twisted youth in the 60's. THen I went on to major in philosophy of all things. What a VOICE!!! LOVE him.

  • Wow, I used to listen to him on my local NPR station in the 70s. IMMEDIATELY recognize that voice now...

  • I love the music from 1:30 to 1:42. I wish it had gone on longer.

  • i can't find the one about fireflys in the yard...can someone upload it? It's on the same album as the Vidiot.

  • this guy was going to be the voice of the devil in the Exorcist.

  • "Come on! Let's get out of my brain!"

  • This is the stuff that lives in my nightmares.

This is the world I need to live in.

Ken's voice is the one that speaks truths I dare not ignore, that I fear beyond mortal reason, that I would walk miles to embrace. Long live Word Jazz.

  • I'm trying to find "Smerd" but it isn't on youTube. ...You know what I stand off, I don't have to tell you. When you go to the polls to vote, I want you to remember one thing, MY NAME. SMERD!

Sure, there'll be lots of names.....

    Can anyone add it?

  • i agree

  • Somehow, I listened to a bunch of "Word Jazz" when I was like 12 years old... that probably explains a lot about my life. :-)

  • @11Jamie11 One of My older sister's boyfriends had several Nordine records, he played them for me,and I loved it all! I must have been 10 or so then, listening to this and reading National Lampoon and ZAP! comics on the living room couch at their place..Man,the smell of incense, photo developing chemicals, a little smell of pot in the air, such great memories!

I ran into him 10 years later,he made a tape of "how are things in Your town" for Me.

  • Ken Nordine (born April 13, 1920) is an American voiceover and recording artist best known for his series of Word Jazz albums. His deep, resonant voice has also been featured in many commercial advertisements and movie trailers. One critic wrote that "you may not know Ken Nordine by name or face, but you'll almost certainly recognize his voice

  • ha I found ken through diggin in the crates as well. word jazz 1 and 2 are amazing... love all his stuff.

  • I think this is my favorite Nordine piece. He inspired me to create my own audio works.

  • My shrink must hear this;)

  • brilliant... I feel dazed
