ive been following ur lessons.they r great.i did the pipe cleaners in my dreads they came out gorgeous,and on my daughters hea.they dnt have dreads their hair is natural and thick.i did an braid mo hwk on them,twist in the middle then i curled the twist with pipcleaners,i dnt know how to make my own channel,because i wish i cld show u!!it came out nice.i have 5 children so any way to save money is great.keep it up!!

@FabiFrankenstein you don't have to shave your head! you can actually comb out dreadlocks. it takes awhile, but can be done. check out shawnta715's channel, she has a great video about combing out her first set of 8 year old locs

@marque235 Thanks! Ha! No, I've gotten that question before. Um I have no idea! I guess I'm just lucky? I use generic razors from CVS, and shave with body wash instead of shaving cream. Nothing special.
@marque235 Oh no! That stinks! I've never been able to wax regularly (I did a brazillian once and wanted to die) but I hear it gets better over time. And it also thins your hair. I've considered laser since I hate shaving. But I've heard mixed things about the results

The same way you don't have to be a skin head to wear a shaved head, or long hair to be a metallica fan. It's a hairstyle that I love and choose to wear. When blacks want to wear locks all they have to do is wash and go and the hair will lock. Most others hair is tangled because it does not roll back into itself. You are awesomely creative! But I cringe a little at using rubber bands on my locks. Might I suggest Scunci "No-Damage" elastic ponytail holders, instead?
PS - an alternative to metal bobby pins might be Sta-Rite plastic hair pins. I haven't yet tried these, so I don't know if they are sturdy enough for locks. But they are similar to some plastic tortoise shell hairpins I used to have years ago...
i mostly focus on styles for my length of hair, since that's what i have to work with. but check out my happy birthday hair video. i have tons of photos of the beginning stages of my locs and how i would style them.
i had 103 about an hour ago, got in the shower, shampooed and squeezed the shit out of em and i saw one hanging on for its life when i got out, so i pulled out the scissors, something i havent done in 5 years.. the dreads by my temple are starting to get frail at the roots, i dont want to cut that area either.. i like the natural look : [

You missed the point of my comment. You didn't offend me! I know I'm not boring. What I'm saying is, I want people to be more aware of what they say to people in real life and on the Internet. You are awesomely creative! But I cringe a little at using rubber bands on my locks. Might I suggest Scunci "No-Damage" elastic ponytail holders, instead?

PS - an alternative to metal bobby pins might be Sta-Rite plastic hair pins. I haven't yet tried these, so I don't know if they are sturdy enough for locks. But they are similar to some plastic tortoise shell hairpins I used to have years ago...

i mostly focus on styles for my length of hair, since that's what i have to work with. but check out my happy birthday hair video. i have tons of photos of the beginning stages of my locs and how i would style them.

i had 103 about an hour ago, got in the shower, shampooed and squeezed the shit out of em and i saw one hanging on for its life when i got out, so i pulled out the scissors, something i havent done in 5 years.. the dreads by my temple are starting to get frail at the roots, i dont want to cut that area either.. i like the natural look : [

everyone is different, but it usually takes anywhere from 6 months to a year to be fully locked.
