on the Lethal Lava land, the 8 coin challenge is very very easy. The coins are all on the puzzle. In fact, it is the most simplest 8 red coin challenge ever. When I was young and I still have the original game, I timed myself to beat that challenge to have 10 seconds and I passed it.

@Dragonicafan you might already know by now, i'm not sure about on the DS but in the original go into first person and looked up. you'll go into one of the castle's secret star missions and be able to unlock the flying mario cap. i think its the same in the DS if thats what your playing.

SS, you don't have to climb back up the fortress to get that star because you can use the canon to get it.

i did beat it later on, though i use a little short cut. i sort of forgotten where is was but i do remember it being dropping from some place high to the bottom.

i'm guessing ir's around 6:09 and 6:10, you jump off the slide on the right i believe if not left and you should end up somewhere closer to the finishing line. if i got that wrong then it should be a jump from somewhere high and is a turn i think. hope that helps.
