I do not want my children to think it's equally valid a way of life as a heterosexual way of life, but if I don't make a deal of it, the changes in attitudes will seep into the rest of society. Up until very recently they couldn't serve openly in the military or have hospital visitation rights that straight people do. I have several friends with gay parents and it hasn't effected them at all. Several of them made the honor roll in school and have good jobs now. It's ridiculous to judge someone's parenting skills on their sexual orientation. There are several heterosexual couples that adopt children and abuse them, but that doesn't mean ALL straight people are bad parents.
