this was when pokemon was epically amazing. I dont mind the new generations of pokemon but i really think the designers need to look back and find that original inspirational feel.- the anime focuses too much on story to the point where it becomes beyond tolerable and fails -just make it an adventure like the originals and people will fall in love once again, i didnt watch this because it was the same as my gold version but rather the characters had adventures/experiances i couldnt do in my game

@khrysta22 He doesn't release Charizard, he leaves him at the 'Charzirific Valley' or something. Charizard was getting annoyed and upset that it was always confined, so Ash decided it'd be best for Charizard to stay in a big expanse like that.

He calls for him on various points to help him, like near the end of the Hoenn arc, when he fights Articuno.

I feel like crying! I havent watched good pokemon anime in a long while! Stupid pokemonUSA for ruining the voice actors, and stupid Pokemon Company for making such a terrible series out of diamond and pearl! Seriously it fucking sucks! They should be making an anime out of the game/manga using Red(ash is based of off red) for kanto, Gold for johto etc. yes I know they did a minor anime involving Gold/Jimmy/Ethan, thats why raikou isnt shown in this opening, did u noticed raikou wasnt there?

I like the part where they showed the gym leaders(clair, witney, bugsy, and morty). Johto had the best and coolest gym leaders IMO.
