  • see my tube.... i play the same song!!

  • U and Arron Spears are the best ive seen for this cover. He is just a different style of drummer than u a lot more hard heavy hitting drummer but u r f***ing awsome keep it going..... VERY IMPRESSIVE.....

  • perfect

  • you deserve a record deal my friend

  • Search for the user roamflood, and check it his version of caught up...blwos this out the water. for some reason its not letting me post the link.

  • @kpotis i agree with you 100 percent, jerome flood is the man. i just took a shot at this for funzors

  • This is nowhere near the best version of this. Why do i know that, because he is not a black guy.

Check this out, blows this guy out the water.

  • 3:05 you kicked some drumming ass. Great job buddy =D If you cover it again, perhaps stick to a single pedal? I dunno if the double worked. It's cool, just maybe not on this track? Not a criticism, just a tip! (=

    Well done again!

  • @owennufc its become such a habbit, and i know its really not called for, especially because alot of the playing i used it for could and usually is done with one foot in this style. I have to literally just take it off to stop myself from using it lol. but you are right on... i shouldnt even have the double set up for this track, if i were attempting to cover it with fidelity.

  • very good, man..

  • Your cover is good, you just need to attack those fills more, if you know what i mean, like really go for it on those fills, use everything, rudiments, paradidles but make sure to keep in time.

  • finally, someone who plays the beat right.... i thought i was the only one besides aaron that adds the offset open hat haha... good job dude

  • Still the best cover of this song on YouTube by far

  • @oneillddrummer wow, well thank you. i would have to strongly disagree though :P

  • Nice! Keep up the good work

  • WHere can i get I get a drumless track of this song??

  • @6CHRIS6ROWE6 that's a good question. i just used the track with my drums added, if you listen closely you can hear the original track drum track.

  • I'm in love with the sound of ur drums...really good drumming there as well..please check out my cover of this song as well..

  • Keep Rocking Dude!!!! Peace!!!!!!

  • Man you're really talented. It's for me The best cover of this song on the net. Except Aaron Spears.

  • @madininagasy COBUS POTGIETER ! check his cover out

  • Dude you are awesome, any tips you can give a new drummer like myself? Like how to get stick speed up? You are amazing, you keep it simple at important parts and then you have fun, really like you bro good job, i play with eyes closed too

  • watch videos on the moeller technique. and thank you very much

  • absolutly awesome, great fills ext

  • I like your drumming bro!

  • man...i'm so tired of douches trying to give pointers to guys who can play. to the last guy who posted, this dude here is keeping it real. It's great that he was inspired by aaron spears but even better that he DID HIS OWN THING with it. who cares if his kicks aren't the same as what spears did, the fact that he took the concept and morphed them with what's comfortable to him is what matters. to the dude he played here, ROCK ON!

  • I agree, everyone's got their on style. Keep it up man. And that type of drumming came from black gospel and blues mixed with alittle bit of funk. There's a lot of church drummers that do their own version of that style of playing Keep it up man.

  • it's obvious you can play & do some cool stuff so I won't really focus on that. :)

From my perspective there are a couple of things you could take from Aaron's performance. Part of why Aaron "kills it" on this song is not just because of his chops in between, but his ability to play the simplest beats & have them totally infected with groove. A big component of this is his kick drums (too many "in between" kick drums & you lose that solid "kick drum + bass guitar notes" thing going on).

    Matt

  • i know what you are saying, i was trying hard to keep that kick solid, but there are points where improv and habit take over beyond what i can thoughtlessly control. i got most of them though :P

  • Dude, why are you criticizing? He killed it... It's his OWN cover..

  • ever heard of constructive criticism? i'm sure hobocabbage can appreciate criticism as much as compliments. i myself love to hear from people, it means i have more things to work on and it keeps me grounded and not all full of myself like a lot of musos can be. he mentioned playing "in the pocket", a big component of that is keeping those kicks solid, so i thought i would point that out. not having a go at him, just giving him some ideas of what to work on next.

  • your a beast on the drms!

  • BESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • i found the fills better then spears in time wise it flowed arieas just was skill

  • Very nice man! Sounds great!

  • Very nice man! especially the kit! i love 2:54 its sick!! keep up to good work. And again: your kit owns all kits!

  • Wow! you are a great drummer. The kit also sounds amazing, great work! How do you tune your toms so perfectly?

  • How do you hold onto those things? I think I've picked food out of my teeth with bigger sticks then that. Kidding aside, nice work. A few rough parts but very nicely done overall man.

  • i actually use even lighter sticks than that. much easier to control in my opinion

  • Hi where you down the music?

I'm crazy behind this song and I do not

    Falow

  • Nice!!!!! you the truth

  • i no what would get u a lot of view do a go go beat

  • ow great

  • any tipn tuning toms? cause mine sound like crap

  • nice drumming. what is the name of this hi hat ?

  • everything is listed on my main channel. but that is a sabian 14" set of stage hats with a normal finish.

  • You've got a great meter. One thing though. It's not always about speed. You could of halved a lot of those fills and they would have sounded a lot better.

  • Different angle. I miss the pink drapes.

  • lol i completely remodeled the room since this video, no more pink drapes :P

  • omg 2:53

  • holy shit nice fills, especially @ 2:54, damn... plz keep makin em they're too good

  • really loved the cover love all the sounds speeding up a couple times is nothing when ya play like that cause you get right back in keep it up :)

  • Also, listen to some Yellowcard for your next cover, they have a greatr drummer in Longineu Parsons and I'd love to see what you could do to best his beats.

  • Dude, you are insane...Why the hell would you want to put this out and expect me to leave a comment on your next video claiming that the next one is better than this. This was amazing.

  • Nailed it brotha..keep rocking!

  • That sounds simply AMAZING! Goes right with the flow of the song! Great Drumming Bro! 5/5

  • i hate usher....

    i love this video

    5 stars

  • amazing!

  • That was frickin amazing...

Can you please define "power pocket" for me?

  • I changed my description to explain it

  • Ah, that was my guess i just wanted to make sure. Great drumming though :D

  • legend

  • you should do one for ac dc black in black

  • gj Hobo meng! keep it up!

  • you put "user" in the description instead of usher

    but this is win.

what do you mean by 'power pocket' ? the way you barely move your hand for the snare and still nail it?

  • Awesome playing man! I like that style of playing. Yea that fill at 2:54 was insane and you came back on point, tough to do! RESPECT! How many mics do you use? Whats the least you can get away with? I want to go acoustic, i just bought a 8 track multi-channel board, need 2 for ipod, that leaves 6 open.

  • If you have a nice sounding room and set, you can get away with just 1 mic, but you are going to pick up a lot of room characteristics. you could go with 1 room, 2 overheads. or add close mics for each drum. but at least try to mic the top of the kick, and the inside of the bass drum. you can aim me at hobocabbage if you wanna talk more about it

  • nice

  • I just noticed something...why can't we hear anything at the beginning, like when you put on your headphones and stuff?

  • i cut out the noise, but i didn't at the end where i drop my sticks.

  • i think 2:54 might be my favorite fill that ive ever done lol.

  • the Buddy Rich of the 21st century. Redefining drumming. 1 song at a time.

  • Nice!!!

  • What happend to your monster kit?>!? :O

Still loved this nice work as always!

  • its not called for, for this piece, besides its only missing the roto toms.

  • Dude love your vids and drumming ! If you want a challenge you could try remixing 'winks' 'higher states of contiousness' acid funk mix, may be to much going on in the tune but I'd like to see you give it ago!

Keep it up and good luck!

  • Very good job i enjoyed it very much!

  • dam, that should be part of the song it was so epic

  • sooooooo sweet

  • wow, man, you amaze me. i thought i was good, i am so wrong compared to you. anyway, do you have a band? if not, you should get one, they would own with you on drums.

  • u rock dude

  • simply amazing

  • Comment removed

  • how long have you been drumming? Your a huge insperation. :D

  • im so used to setting the panning up to drummers perspective, but this angle clearly calls for audience point of view, so youll notice the crash on your right is coming mostly out of the left speaker.. oh well, next time

  • Awesome!

  • good stuff mate

  • 3:05-3:09 was fucking amazing. cant wait for the next vid

  • awesome job...just amazing

  • deng ur good how long have u been doing this?
