just curious....most killer whales in captivity have their dorsal fins flop over and nobody knows why....these whales seem to have vertical dorsal fins...I wonder what the Japanese are doing right on comparison to other aquariums?
Ku was a female (she died yesterday!) orca, and typically females' dorsal fins are only 1-3 feet tall. Males, on the other hand, have 4-7 foot tall dorsal fins.. huge, right?! In captivity, most male orcas dorsal fins flop when they are between the ages of 7-13, probably from spending so much time at the water's surface, when in the wild, they'd be underwater more. Or just from being in a tank - and swimming back/forth or in circles many, many times. It causes the cartilage in the dorsal to bend
i hope ur are all learning the lesson ... circus or wildparks must die! for ever ... let these guys bleeding for to many generations they bits animals to show and train them under pain FUCK OF CIRCUS !!! FUCK OF WILDPARKS !!! FUCK OF APENATION !!! its ur choise !!! boycott these and u will help
She had been sick for about three or four months and wasn't performing. She was kept in the medical pool, probably so she wouldn't get the dolphins sick. Anyway, Ku died on September 19, 2008 in the morning, according to Nagoya Aquarium's website. She was about 16-18 years old and was the last surviving of the "Taiji Five" capture in 1997.
They are not scary they are loving mammals, there is no known records of whales or dolphins killing anyone, maybe attacked but I havent heard anything of killed so!
