I'm a rookie officer here in New York City..the day after this news broke when I was in the academy we had a minute of silence at roll call for these men. May we meet together on the otherside..RIP
May you RIP. Your dedication to your city will never be forgotten. A thug took your life, but in the end justice was upheld. God Bless you and families.
This man, Ed Tracy, is excellent. I love his speech best out of any of the other words spoken at this funeral. R.I.P. officers. We'll never forget your servicing and protecting of us.
It was an honor to be there to say goodbye to my fallen brothers. If I live my life and accomplish even a quarter of what these men did, it will have been a good life.
RIP Mark, John, Erv, and Dan. We'll take it from here.
A heartbreaking, senseless tragedy. Beautiful memorial. Ed Tracey's address was inspiring and uplifting during a time of deep sorrow and grief. May God bless the families and friends of these fallen officers, and may the entire community work together for greater harmony. Heaven has four new angels now, each robed in blue. God bless their souls forever.
I am a member of the LVMPD Honor Guard and I was truely honored to be there for this funeral. Capt Ed Tracy, in a time of pain, anger and saddness, stepped up and gave some amazing last words for his fallen officers. You can see the pain in his face. I have never met this man, but am cofident he is a good man and leader. His words put chills down my spine and tears down my cheek. I pray for him and his officers. These OPD 4 will live forever in the memory of us all. God Bless them and the OPD.
Thanks for posting this, from your brothers and sisters in blue in Hawaii we mourn with you. God bless them and their families and the Oakland Police Department. God bless you guys!
Thank you ziggy for that large dose of ignorance. Fortunately we live in a free country where you can voice your opinion without fear of retribution from those cops you hate. However... you may still want to watch what you write because there are a lot of people who would love to ship you off to one of those countries that celebrated 9/11 with a bible stapled to your forehead. I'm sure you will find a whole new appreciation for those sworn to serve and protect.
I was honored to attend and humbled by the outpouring of support for Sgts Dunakin, Romans, Sakai, and Off Hege. Oakland did a great job of personalizing the services. To the community; Thank you. Folks along the road with flags and signs, a wave or standing tall in a salute to the Officers. Gassing up on the way home, a truck driver came up and wished condolences for the loss of our Brothers...it is a moment like that, that makes you remember why we choose this profession!
I was there, to mourn the loss of my fallen OPD brother officers. This speech was truly touching seeing it in person, all of them were. Support OPD and thank you to all the officers, family, friends, and supporters from all around the world that came and joined us in Oakland.
This is an incredibly sad day for the city of Oakland were we stand so divided. These police officers were fine hard working citizens of this country and I should hope that this division in the bay area will end and we can again become united.
I don't think the bay area is divided at all when it comes to this major event. A lot of people in the news are implying that there is a war between the citizens of Oakland and the police who protect them. This is adamently denied by the OPD. OPD cannot ever be at war with the citizens simply because their only purpose is to serve them.
