  • i remember these commercials when i was little, i was like I FUCKING LOVE ROBOTS THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME

  • Oh dear god I remember these freakish people from my childhood

  • Herb, did you slip her one of those other batteries?

    Herb: Who me?

  • These commercials were so creepy in the 90's when I was a kid I didn't know wether to laugh or be frightened, the 90's was the shit tho

  • I remember that lol

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • that is so funny!

  • creepy

  • This would be less scary if they screamed constantly.

  • It's a Max Headroom family reunion!

  • somebody call the ghost busters.

  • DEATH TO OTHER BATTERIES! LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!

  • @dark7element

    Videodrome for the win.

    Your comment for the win.

  • Press 7 for death

  • YES! Assassination of a family member is always good-natured fun at a BBQ!

  • Wish I could slip a few people one of those other batteries

  • WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?!

  • @otaku9000

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FREAKIN' CAR?!

  • Anyone catch the subliminal frame?

  • @Swimmisan I didn't catch it, but I managed to look at it. It's just a flash of Herb with his back turned to the screen from the earlier frames. Creepy in context, though.

  • This shit scared me as a kid. Still is creepy even after all these years.

  • funny!!!!!!!!!

  • translation: "Herb, did you slip her one of those roofies?!?!"

  • I'd just like to throw out there this inspired the video for Wynona's Big Brown Beaver by Primus. Just sayin.

  • The aunt is the only one that scared me. ='(

  • Was the relative with the other battery played by Michele Mariana? It sounds like her.

  • HAHAHAHA!

    Grandmas Dead.

  • HA! My favorite Duracell commercial! I have not seen it in 15 years.

  • @kdc43 Has it been that long? Wow, I'm old.

  • GAAAAAAAAAAH THE FACES OF PLASTIC.

  • what. the fuck. was that?

  • No wonder this is on the uncanny valley page e.e euugh....

  • ugh, i hate these commercials! i remember being scared as hell when i first saw this as a kid!

  • Energizer mothafuka

  • best way to commit murder in their "happy" community.

  • WAIT did that guy give that woman a date rape battery?

  • @ernieball3645 hahahah wow

  • These people look like they would be right at home in Rapture, beating little glowing girls for gene drugs.

  • It's sad that this is a fond childhood memory.

  • I RUN OFF OF FOOD FROM MY SYSTEM OF MIGHTY ORGANS!

  • So, according to this commercial, you will die sooner unless you use Duracell.

    There goes my sleep.

Did they not notice the Nightmare Fuel that is this commercial?

  • Grandma's dead! Ahhhahahahahahahaha!!

  • The Putternan's what a name for those duracell creeps.

  • Why is everyone laughing?

THE OLD LADY IS FUCKING DEAD

  • @jagus12

  • jesus, i miss the 90s.

  • i dont think any kid who watches this realises that they are basically getting away with murder, that was horrifying.... the fact that they are actors with makeup is even more creepy

  • They are easily getting away with murder 0_0

    I knew they were evil

  • Geez these people used to scare me

  • 22 to 24 look closely...subliminal message

  • @Joshuawahl I didn't see it, where?

  • @Joshuawahl OMG I SAW IT!

  • @Joshuawahl I thought so too, but I downloaded this and played it frame by frame. It's an editing mistake that didn't get wiped. For a split second, it cuts to the camera view behind the guy's back, then right back to her face.

  • Even though they may look a bit creepy, I loved this commercial ever since I first saw it. And the perfect way to shut up your annoying relative... change her batteries. That is if she's a robot.

  • One of the better Duracell battery commercials. I liked the old lady taking a face dive into her plate at the end.

  • So fun that you posted this! I was the daughter in the family... after HOURS of makeup ;)

  • Really? That is awesome!

  • @KrysteeClark

I had a crush on your character back then

  • @KrysteeClark you look cute

  • @KrysteeClark haha whoa! well, thanks to you and your battery family, I've had a lifelong fear of robots. seriously.

  • Besides the freaky appearance, the real question is it murder, or 'just' been knocked unconscious?

    *shiver*

  • that was the scariest series of commercials in history.

  • Wow, now *my* brain wants to shutdown.

    Weird, just weird.

  • They killed her!

  • This reminds me of those horrible masks on "LazyTown". You know, that the Magnificent Bastard character wears?

  • That is fucking horrifying.

  • LOL For Real Yet I Cant Stop Watching It

  • wait what? i thought it was great!

  • Aside from being horrifying, how fucking stupid does a company have to be to put a subliminal message for their own product in a COMMERCIAL for THEIR OWN PRODUCT? It's not like a one-frame picture of the battery is going to be more effective than seeing it for several frames sticking out of the backs of those demon spawns.

  • Next time, that lady needs the Energizer battery for a change.

  • That Battery Was Meant to Look Like an Energizer. The 1990's Was the Decade of The Battery Wars. In This Ad, As Mentioned Before, The "Other" Battery Was Meant to Look Like an Energizer, and in Energizer's Ads, The Supervolt Batteries Were Black, Like a Duracell.

  • i am very disturbed.VERY very disturbed

  • the puttermans look like something that would be on liquid television

  • that daughter is hot!

  • ha! i thought so too!

  • LOL I remember this!

  • wasnt there a tv show with theses guys

  • it would have been cool if they did a tv show

  • So this would be the equivlant of sliping you sunt skittles instead of her heart medication. Of course its funny!

  • punkmonkoffunk:

Actually, come to think of it, it's never really been disclosed in any of the Duracell (or Engergizer, for that matter) ads exactly what running out of battery power entails for these characters... Can they be brought back to life again with a fresh battery, or are they dead and gone?

Given how even if you got the old battery out before it died completely and replaced it, there'd still be a window during which the character would be getting no battery power...

  • ...the former presumable, as otherwise the "species" (if you want to call them that) wouldn't be able to survive...

Indeed, even the same collection of ads aren't consistant on this issue... The "marathon run" Duracell ad has the Eveready Bunnies becoming stiff like statues when they run out of battery life, while in the "gym" ad they merely become exhaused in the human sense of the word...

    So yea, inconsistant...

  • HAHA! It's funny because he took away the only thing keeping her alive.

  • They make it a little too obvious that it's a swipe at Energizer. Kind of like how Energizer has the "Supervolt" weasel and the crappy "Supervolt" batteries that looked like Duracell but with "Supervolt" instead.

  • I'm going to remake this clip and make it seem like a 1930s soap opera complete with bizarre murders and foes who come back from the grave! Think Phantom of the Opera but instead of ghastly brutal murders think of it as cheesy 50s horror flicks. Dr Cyclops! your supposed to be dead! Dr: I know... *BLAM*

  • Wow. I actually remember this commercial. o.O

  • This feels like something out of an adult cartoon...

  • These ads always seemed like something you'd see in a dream, hangover daze or stoned-out fantasy, and what's with the subliminal messages?

  • I remember when this commercial first aired. My mom and I would crack up each time they showed it. This is one of the funniest commercials I've ever seen.

  • omg......

  • ...Scary! O.o

  • Things that make you go "Buh".

  • This is one of the funniest spots ever!!

  • M-m-m-m-m-max Headroom!

  • Looks like a Devo video.

  • horrifying.

  • Looks like the King from Burger King would fit right in here.

  • @stingstungme Nah, he's too animated.

  • ROFL what is so creepy about this?? ROFLMAO!! This is one of the funniest commercials I have ever seen~! LMFAO They owned that crazy old hag lmao!

  • leftover max headroom costumes

  • LOL

  • Were they on drugs?

  • creepy as shit!

  • wtf was wrong w/ the 90's?

  • PRIMUS SUCKS!!!!

  • These were directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, who was the Coen Brothers cinematographer and directed Men in Black etc.

  • "Herb! Did you just murder her? "

    "me?"

    "ahahahaha!"

  • check it out! theres a subliminal Duracell advertisement close to 00:21. But wait? isnt this a duracell commercial to begin with lol

  • Ugh ugly, creepy things thank goodness someone came to their senses and ended them.

  • PRIMUS - Wynona's Big Brown Beaver

  • still fucking bizarre after all these years

  • I can't help but wonder WHY THE HELL DOES A FAIMILY WITH EXPOSED ELECTRICAL CONTACTS AND A GIANT BATTERY IN THEIR BACK HAVE A SWIMMING POOL! :P

  • that's a very good point!

  • I know me too! God brings back bad memories. Make them go away!

  • omg those commercials used to creep me out!!!
