@Swimmisan I didn't catch it, but I managed to look at it. It's just a flash of Herb with his back turned to the screen from the earlier frames. Creepy in context, though.
i dont think any kid who watches this realises that they are basically getting away with murder, that was horrifying.... the fact that they are actors with makeup is even more creepy
@Joshuawahl I thought so too, but I downloaded this and played it frame by frame. It's an editing mistake that didn't get wiped. For a split second, it cuts to the camera view behind the guy's back, then right back to her face.
Even though they may look a bit creepy, I loved this commercial ever since I first saw it. And the perfect way to shut up your annoying relative... change her batteries. That is if she's a robot.
Aside from being horrifying, how fucking stupid does a company have to be to put a subliminal message for their own product in a COMMERCIAL for THEIR OWN PRODUCT? It's not like a one-frame picture of the battery is going to be more effective than seeing it for several frames sticking out of the backs of those demon spawns.
That Battery Was Meant to Look Like an Energizer. The 1990's Was the Decade of The Battery Wars. In This Ad, As Mentioned Before, The "Other" Battery Was Meant to Look Like an Energizer, and in Energizer's Ads, The Supervolt Batteries Were Black, Like a Duracell.
Actually, come to think of it, it's never really been disclosed in any of the Duracell (or Engergizer, for that matter) ads exactly what running out of battery power entails for these characters... Can they be brought back to life again with a fresh battery, or are they dead and gone?
Given how even if you got the old battery out before it died completely and replaced it, there'd still be a window during which the character would be getting no battery power...
...the former presumable, as otherwise the "species" (if you want to call them that) wouldn't be able to survive...
Indeed, even the same collection of ads aren't consistant on this issue... The "marathon run" Duracell ad has the Eveready Bunnies becoming stiff like statues when they run out of battery life, while in the "gym" ad they merely become exhaused in the human sense of the word...
They make it a little too obvious that it's a swipe at Energizer. Kind of like how Energizer has the "Supervolt" weasel and the crappy "Supervolt" batteries that looked like Duracell but with "Supervolt" instead.
I'm going to remake this clip and make it seem like a 1930s soap opera complete with bizarre murders and foes who come back from the grave! Think Phantom of the Opera but instead of ghastly brutal murders think of it as cheesy 50s horror flicks. Dr Cyclops! your supposed to be dead! Dr: I know... *BLAM*
