Could not resist and Poles on the left flank - the royal banner fell to the ground. At this dangerous moment in the middle, where there were shelves of Smolensk, occurred a bloody battle. Smolyan stood the most powerful punch - the German wedge.

The 600th anniversary took place in 2010. This was an ad for the re-enactment of that great battle which was won by the joint forces of Poland-Lithuania against the German Teutonic Knights. The original and one and only movie that came out was back in the 1960's.

Great part of history of our both countries. We were almost like Romanian Imperium 600 years ago and we could grow and grow.
This battle was one of greatest european battles actually VS. western Europe. This shows that most countries in Europe had their "5 minutes".

@sanitaras almost all your trops in this battle was light armored, they didn't have any chance against teutonic heavy armored knights, on the other hand polish knights was trained and equiped as good as teutonic, this battle was won thanks to the good strategy of king of poland, and strong polish knights. Lithuanians was used to the thing the do the best to run away.

@grundulas Either way the Poles were fighting, and it was as much a Polish victory as a Lithuanian one, why are you trying to say only the Lithuanians can take credit for this battle?

@Malkor1 bah..Lithuanians were very skilled with javelins(throving spears)and good spear fighters,even wooden shields was very efective becouse of its shape,and teutonic knights without shields was much vulnerable,quik death,Lithuanians were good in battle tactics,and we had half of europe,i've seen many of your (Polish) people comments,and it looks like you are trying to be better than us,we are people like you and have rights.stop saying that Vilnius belongs to you.

@LTSamogitianLT Guys there was no Lithuania or Poland that time. That was the begining of bright future for generations to come for one great Republic of Both Nations. Polish might combined with Lithuanian soil and agility created a power that had it's place in europe for almost 400 years. We've been brothers for the time similar to existing of USA. In Europe filled with Inquizition, wars and brutal force. I have a dream that all Slavic and Baltic countries will unite as one Land.
