My Dad, Alan David Dwyer, was the commanding fire officer in charge this night. He was awarded the Star of Courage for an "Act of conspicuous Courage during great peril", re-entering the plant insearch of a lost colleague, who was found, & left with only moments to spare b4 the explosions. Alan died on 26.10.09 due to suspected med neg. A tragic death for such a great man & war veteran, my hero. Love U dad, wish I'd had a chance to say goodbye. I'll fight for you! C U on the other side Love W xx
Well, it was a BORAL LPG storage facility near Kingsford Smith Airport Sydney, about 1989/1990. No one killed, but some very frightened residents. We lived up the road from the place and the Police were trying to evacuate everyone. We basically told them to bugger of so we could watch. Yes, stupid in hindsight. I also worked for the SpeedyGas company in Cairns Australia that had a BLEVE, 1 dead.
Fucking myself.

same thing happened in Mexico City in 1984. 500 dead. LPG is all bad when it blows up.

Yes i remember this, saw it with my own eyes. My house was with 1km of the explosions and we had to evacuate the area. Felt like a bomb had dropped.
