So I just tried this method on my bathroom door, and it just didn't work. Luckily I was so pissed off I just started bashing it with a hammer. I broke off the handle and manually turned the cylinder to unlock the door. For those who mess up during this method, get a hammer and go buy a new push button lock! No idea why a key would be needed for the bathroom....
