I loved my 3 years in the Merchant Navy in 1970 when I was 17, it was blast watching the huge waves cover the ship in a big Atlantic storm ,it used to amaze me how a ship would recover a roll sideways, sometimes you think its not going to roll back, I was never scared because Id just at the Able Seamen and if they were cool about it then I figured I would only worry if they did, happy days and respect indeed to Sea Men.
most cargoes in e world r still shipped through seas n that will nvr change. countries r building mega port juz to handle these enourmous vessels.there's not a plane so huge, nt even antonov225 cld transport these cargoes. its juz nt practical. to all e sea men out there, respect.
@matamatamata I was making refrence to the transportation of myself from A to B without spewing my guts up for a week or so. but indeed you make a fair point
lordvan 16 , if you think this pictures are fake y am sorry for you stupid neuron , hit google ... and at 1.52 its your worst nightmare ... fuck me . y catch some bad shit on the sea but nothing like that .... sea 7 on 8000 grt chemical tanker on the fucking english chanell ... but that ... shit .... hell no
as a master mariner for thirty years i consider these videos very realistic and useful to be shown on relevant courses / seminars especially for new seamen
i was on a coaster passing through the bay of biscay when we ran head on into a force 10. the swell was wide and had a wave crash OVER the bridge smashing two windows. we had to limp to spain as it stressed the keel.
Tough impressive and powerful, i doubt theese waves are really freak waves. Freak waves are a fairly rare and looks different then normal waves. They are slim and high - twice as high as the highest "normal" waves. The 100 feet highs is measured from sealevel, and usualy creates a gab in front of them- making the wave relatively even higher. Ships tends to dive, nose down, into theese waves. I really hope a freakwave is captured on film one day - and that the crew survives ofcourse:)
some of these waves are called freak waves some have been recorded at over 30 meters or 100 feet. they are so big that they cap. they take from the waves around them and get bigger. good documentary BBC on freak waves
the front of a ship cannot be fixed to the hoof it has that to be comonum train that has a clean track, but in the truth in the ship would be a plate that absorbs the impacts of the waves and linked it ties the behind part transforams this energy in I row atraz comoprotege the hoof, as well as the laterals could construct something that would navagaria more in the same tranquilidade in storms.
At 1.46 im pretty sure that was the cargo ship called pasha bulka that was near Newcastle in Australia. there was a gash in the hull of the ship 30 foot long and nearly 3 foot wide. it ended up beached and took 2 months to repair and tow back to the ocean.
